Hello Spirians!
I've been asked several times about the topic of housing. It is true that on the Petal of the Timid Cougar you can have a house for free. However, you must complete three threads for the house to be free. Otherwise you pay a fee. The question has been raised can new players cash in their housing and state they are living on the petal with the promise of completing the three required threads?
The answer is no. Think of the housing as a loan system for a new player. If you don't complete all three housing threads, you still have to pay on the house the basic fee of five hundred gm. However, if you complete all three threads and turn them in for your housing, you can earn the money back. If you only complete, say, 2/3 threads you will only earn a partial amount of the 500 gm back.
We request that you do not add 500 gm to your ledger and claim you have the housing because of the chance that the threads may not be completed and all the extra cash may have been spent. In which case, the PC will be placed into debt. If you choose not to complete threads, you will still be required to pay the 500 gm for a housing. The only difference is that with each thread completed you have the chance to earn some money back.
If you wish to cash in your housing and stay at a temporary facility (such as Grath's Rest), you may do so. However, you must stay in the city at least a season before having your house built.
I hope this clears some confusion up on the housing for new players.
