PHYSICAL

Image
An average man of Lhavit. There is little that makes him distinctive from the rest of the crowd. Short dark brown hair with the occasional tuft sticking out at an angle. For the most part though, he keeps it well groomed. His jaw is square, dark stubble across his chin and jaw line, once again well groomed and looked after. He is far from prideful or vain in his appearance, but he does hold a sense of self respect. His skin is lightly tanned and has been weathered by the wind and elements with a pair of dull misty blue eyes that stare out from beneath his thick brow. They have a tendency to grow sharper when he is listening to someone or something.

He is not overly tall, nor intimidating. Lean would be the best way to describe him. There is not anywhere that is too fat or over developed. There is the odd scar here and there, all of various ages and sizes. The most noticeable ones are the two faded ones that are on the left side of his face. Although they are far from horrific looking, they still cause people to give a double take when looking at him for the first time.

His clothing tastes are simplistic. For the most part he wears loose fitting clothing, ones that are unrestricting to his form and allow free movement. Plain shirt, breeches, a large leather coat over the top. All in all it covers his frame and his stature with ease.Around his neck he has a long silver chain in which he hangs a multitude of trinkets. All in all, he looks like a general nice guy that is easy to approach.

PERSONALITY

Just a normal man. Well, he is. Most of the time at least. Akhtar is a man who on the outside seems just like anyone else. A survivor- to those who know his history-, a man simply scraping by and making a living. If there was anything that was definite about him though, it would be the fact he was brought up to at least be a gentlemen. Maybe not perfect, for there is more often than not times where he is crude, but at least he has manners- most of the time- and treats those he serves with respect. It would be wrong to say he is silver tongued in nature, but he is capable of conversation with people and drawing out the odd rumour here and there. Nothing special, but enough to amuse himself with gossip.

ImageWhen out on the street he is the sort who is ready to fight – not that he goes looking for trouble -, from a quick brawl to a pulling out of blades. Get him inside his work though; he becomes a much more forceful player. If you fight in his bar, then be prepared to get thrown out onto the street no matter where you stand in society.

In honesty though, like most people of Lhavit, he has grown accustomed to the more relaxed and meditative lifestyle. Over the years he allowed himself to be one with their society and when outside of working is more often than not found around the Plaza. Of course, there is always times where he needs his own company, to which then people can seek him out in his apartment - if they know where it is.

There is however, his own set of rumours, most of which are false or so elaborate that they would appear as little more than lies. Still, there is always that one true rumour – if you believe that sort of thing. Of course, if you approach him bluntly about it, he will just simply laugh and shake his head.

“He’s just a barman right? Nothing special, talks to people, hears their problems, that’s about it. I mean, he just pours drinks, he doesn’t know anything, just listens to their worries… yeah?”

Akhtar

HISTORY

There was always one problem about Akhtar, he never truly managed to achieve the work his family did. Sure, he had honour, he had drive, but he could never quiet grasp things at the same level as everyone else. When he was a child, they just thought he was a slow learner that struggled with his studies. Then they tried to help him with the sword. Sure, that worked to a degree, but something was never quiet right. According to his teachers at least.

They tried him elsewhere, still nothing. It continued for a while, the eyes looking down upon him, silently judging and waiting until he stumbled into his own little niche. Time went on, and the sting of his parent's disappointment hit him hard. By the time he reached adulthood most of the family chose to ignore him, even when he managed to find something that did interest him. He had supposedly spent too long finding his place in Lhavit. At the moment however, he seems to be fitting in where he is and enjoying his work. He scrapes up the pieces and marches himself on, surviving, living, and working. Time however will tell if he is best suited for such a profession.

Or at least, that's the story he tells everyone.

Thus far
In Spring 513 Akhtar begun work once more in the Scholar's Demise as a bartender. Outside of that not a lot happened. Short of the place getting attacked by Zith and having to fight his way to safety. What a season.

The Real History
Akhtar is far from a native of Lhavit, let alone the Kalea Region. Those who know him and manage to get the truth out of him will one day find this out. Akhtar first arrived in the city of Lhavit coming up for nine years ago, exhausted, beaten and most importantly defeated. The group he was travelling with had been wiped out by the unforgiving, and in turn it forced Akhtar to put aside his life living by the blade.

But what of his life before then? Akhtar was a child of Syliras, raised with its sense of honour and keeping of peace. For years he lived within the walls of the city, working, learning, understanding the way the city worked. It was in a sense both a simple and hard working life. And one that he would never trade. In Akhtar's childhood years, he was drilled early on how to lead and the ideals of honour. Rigorous training and days filled with learning. He was destined to be a knight from the moment he was born, and it was a destiny he could not escape. So he had little choice other than to embrace it. Like many of the children of the knights, Akhtar was sent off to become a page at the age of ten, and by the age of thirteen became a squire. By the time he had turned eighteen Akhtar received his knighting quest before finally becoming a knight. Not that his training stopped there. For the next two years the young man honed in on his skills where he could.

That was, however, until he was called upon a quest. Or more correctly to assist on one. His group was sent across the Suvan and to Kalea. At first, despite the dangers that were about the group managed to take it's way from Kalea, following the one who was given the quest with very little information to go on. As the group neared Lhavit though, events turned to the worse, and young Akhtar was left beaten and torn by the ordeal. With the rest of his group dead, or soon to be, the quest was little more than abandoned.

After arriving in Lhavit, Akhtar put aside the life of the blade. He had no way to return to Syliras, and by the time he had recovered properly two years had past. Even if he wanted to, he could not. It was without a doubt that he was thought dead, and without any immediate or fast means in getting in touch with his people it was safe to say he was stranded. He dared not to leave the city, alone or in a group as the traumatic experiences in the unforgiving had mostly frightened him. And most importantly with the dawning failure of the quest lying before him, he felt he had dishonoured his ways and become unworthy to return. He became little more than a fallen knight.

Yet just as it appeared that he had failed, he was also released to choose his own path and destiny. And so he started a new life from the beginning once more and never turned back.

Lhavit
The first two years: 56th of Autumn 504 AV to 18th of Winter 506 AV

Akhtar arrives in Lhavit, broken, beaten and torn. He spends the next two years recovering not only physically, but mentally from the events in the Unforgiving. It is also around this time that his spoken history begins to emerge - an attempt to cut himself off from the past.

Gaining a foot hold: 19th of Winter 506 AV to 54th of Summer 507 AV

After finally recovering and being classed as able to look after himself, Akhtar begins to try and find himself a place in Lhavit, in an attempt to stabilise himself.

Washing away the past: 55th of Summer 507 AV to 92nd of Winter 511 AV

Akhtar finally allows himself to take up the blade once more when need be. Which, thankfully, is very rarely.

Time as a Squire: 20th of Summer 498 AV to 21st of Autumn 502 AV

Value: 25gm
History: A gift from his father.
Description: This sword has a consists of a long handle topped on one end by a curved blade the size of a short sword with a single edge and by a sharp spear point on the other.
Specific details: The length of the blade itself is 25 inches in length, a shallow, single edged curve leading to it's tip. The handle however is long for the blade and has a length of 15 inches. And then there is the spear point mounted on the tip of the hilt to contend with, and although it is only another 5 inches, it could no doubt cause serious damage if need be. The total length of this weapon therefore is 45 inches. For the most part though, he keeps the weapon within his apartment for presentation, but on the occasions it does come out into public eye he keeps it within its scabbard and attached to his back harness.

Housing
Location: The one at the end of the hall on the 4th floor, Solar Winds Apartments, Zintia Peak, Lhavit
Basic: 20x20 single room apartment (400 sq feet) that overlooks the Surya Plaza with: a low-elevated Lhavitian-style bed; a wooden desk; an average chair; a soft, rounded chair; a hearth; chest; shelf and couch.
Description: The front door of this apartment would have been plain if it was not for the small bronze shield that was painted in the centre of the door. When one enters the apartment, they pass its small stone guardian- a lion of a sort-, one would first presume it is simple decoration, but the locals would recognise it as an object of Lhavitian superstition.

Through the door the first thing one would notice is the large glass window that curves around the far left wall upon entry, and that lights the room during the daylight hours. Before the window is a rounded hearth with a chimney located above it- allowing a place for the smoke to escape. Around the hearth there is a couch and a rounded chair, which thus turns the upper corner into a more social space. In the far right corner is where the bed with a chest at the foot of it, with two large, plain Canvas screen separating it off from the rest of the apartment and giving it a sense of privacy. On the outer side of the canvas is a desk, which despite the odd sheet here and there, is empty, and to its right a shelf in which a steel skirmishing sword rests upon.

The colours in the room itself are plain and neutral in colour, with the majority of the furniture being made of wood. A lot of the time it is neat, almost to the point of seeming almost regimented. The bed is always made, the floor always clean, along with any of the other surfaces. If there is any mess made, there is a good chance it will not stay that way for long.
