Flashback Unarmed Combat -Part I -

Spring 25th, 509 AV

Aleksi groaned as a warm, human hand touched her shoulder. Turning to the side, she attempted to sleep again before feeling a blunt, rather hard hit on the back of her thigh. Growling louder this time, she peeked over her shoulder. It was Davon, like every other time. She never really understood why she didn't get up before getting hit when she knew it was him and that he wouldn't give up. Pushing herself into a sitting position, she looked at the tall, older looking man before her. He wasn't that old, but life in constant battle has worn him out. At just 26, he looked at least 10 years older, with wrinkles, some grey hair and scars covering most of his body, combined with his windmarks. With all that said, he was still quite a good looking man. A cheeky smile, light eyes and beard that covered his chin made most Drykas women of the Diamond clan whimper when he passed by. He smiled at the young Drykas and added Morning my little fierce angel, making her growl before she chuckled. Unlike most men, he had the right to call her that because... well, because he had all the respect one could have from Aleksi. She didn't even bother to hide it. They were very close, quite often together and mutually fond of each other. That morning was no different, with a soft smile, she stood up, with barely anything on. Lurking around the tent, she found her clothing and put it on, making sure everything is perfectly tight and easy to move in. Eyes met Davon's every now and then just to make him smile and then went away. His arms were crossed and his clothing was similar to hers. A bit more covering with a few metal bracelets and a belt-type x across his chest. I'm ready, she added and walked passed him, out of the tent. Taking a deep breath to wake herself up, she felt his hands move over her hair, tying it in a braid that looked more complicated than it actually was. Grinning, she walked over to Luc, brushed along his fur, making the cat wake up as his usual grumpy self. Heading over to Night, she looked back, making sure Davon was following her on Vayna. Her arms pushed her up onto the Strider's back, adjusting herself, she tapped the animal's neck to which, he, without a single sound went towards the city edges. Just outside, they both stopped. Their eyes met, yet again, at which he shouted Catch! While tossing an apple Aleksi's way. She was getting faster. She actually managed to catch the apple without dropping it or even really breaking a sweat. It wasn't time for food though and she knew it, so she left the apple in her bag and with a smiled approached the large male. His body stretched before her, rolling his shoulders back, making the bones in his neck crack. All she could do was watch in amazement, hoping that one day, she'd be as strong, fast and skilled as he was. She did her own part of stretching though, while thinking of that, making sure that all of her muscles were warmed up before they began. His moves, at first, were quite slow, because he didn't want to hurt her. Blowing punches and kicks her way, seeing how she dodges from side to side, up and down, skipping over the low ones and crunching to avoid the high ones. Her petite body didn't wait for long though, so she headed his way and with one large slam into his chest with her shoulder she managed to knock him down onto the ground. Smiling, he moved back up on his feet Not bad angel, not bad adding under his breath before just letting his foot trip her over. HEY! I wasn't ready! She screamed out, looking at him with anger in her eyes, to which he just laughed, shaking his head. Do you really think they will be waiting for you to be ready babygirl? Up and focus! Or I will have to hunt the boy who got your attention occupied down! Making her growl with his last sentence, she literally slid between his legs and kicked herself off the ground. As soon as she got close to him, her arm ended up around his neck, pulling him down and placing her knee underneath his spine but not letting him fall on it. That would kill a person Aleksi... he mumbled, somewhat disappointed in what she has done Beautifully done, but that would kill a person... you need to learn how to control your anger... it might be the one point between life and death Aleksi frowned, letting him go and turning around, rolling her shoulders back and then dodging to one side, before dropping down flat and pushing herself backwards. She heard him strike, she heard his footsteps and reacted the way he's been teaching her the past few months. It seemed as if the disappointment from his face had disappeared, since now, somehow he found himself on the floor, laughing as she had her one knee on his throat. Oh my... kicking me off my feet was nice.. I must admit I did not expect you to be that good, just yet, said the man before she moved her knee and watched him stand up. The girl didn't say much for the next couple of hours, but just trained, practicing dodging in the similar ways, then striking, then back to dodging until she could say that she was capable of placing at least three proper strikes on Davon in their sparring. He seemed more than pleased with the resault for that day, so it was time to head back home... this time though, not on the Striders.. no.. They stretched and started running, making their way to the tent where he picked her up in about twenty minutes of solid running... It was exhausting, but she loved it... she loved every bit of it more than anything out there.

Notes :

I was a bit disconcerted by the unusual indication of spoken words, namely italicization and underlining rather than quotation marks. I’d strongly suggest at least adding quotation marks, to avoid confusion. You’ll also want to make sure you stay in the same tense throughout – a couple times you slipped into the present. You also overplayed your skill level a bit, as you have no points in Unarmed Combat, and Novice level Wrestling, yet there was very little difficulty in taking down your mentor.

On the plus side, it was an exciting and energetic read, and I certainly look forward to seeing more.
