"It's a shame, but I can manage."

Syl says while then listening to the Kelvic pronounce her name.

"Sha-dd-oos Rr-iiv-sir" Syl replied slowly as a way to make the name stick in her mind. "Well Shadow, a fitting name, I tend to go by the name Syl Serin, though you can call me Syl. Would you mind helping me tie this buck to that tree over there with the large branch. This guy seems quite heavy."

Syl takes off the belt pouch, detaches the pouch from the belt, and then slaps it together to test its strength. "I think it will hold him. All we have to do is figure out how to get his hind legs to hang up there. Hmm...Hey, think you can turn back to your leopard form and drag his legs up there while I tie him with this belt? I doubt it'd work the other way around."

Shadow gives Syl a bow of her head, "Of course. I would love to help a fellow hunter." The young kelvic transform back into a black leopard. Using her strong jaws and body she drags the heavy buck to the tree with the low and thick branch. It was difficult carrying the prey up in the tree. So she had to grip down on the bark harder than she usual does. Never the worry because Shadow River usually eats her meals in trees anyway. It feels wrong otherwise.

Shadow tried her best to put the buck in the perfect position for Syl to tie him.

Syl worked her way up the tree behind Shadow to the branch that looked like it'd be the best to hang the buck from. It was somewhat low lying yet sturdy enough to hold the buck and the two of them. She quickly fastened the belt around the hind legs tightly then looping it over the limb before pulling the belt through to finish the knot around the tree. Syl nodded at Shadow after finishing the knot. Syl's nose began to rile up. Her head leant backwards with a breath inward.

"Achoo!"

Syl fell off the branch now weighed down by the weight of the three of them that was about eight feet off the ground. She caught herself with her feet just barely sticking to the under branch. Her body slammed against the buck. This gave her knot a test of its strength proving its firmness. It held but, so did Syl's sneezing fit.

"Oh, dear, I nearly forgot...I am allergic to cats. Achoo! Achoo!" A collection of snot began to hang from her nose while hanging upside down making it to where Syl had to close her left eye. "Umm, Shadow...can you help me back up onto the branch and change back to your other form. I am starting to look unsightly with this allergy wrenching my face."

When Shadow wasn't all that surprise when Syl fall. The back was very thick but, wasn't really wide for her, Shadow, and the buck. Luckily it didn't break. That would be awful. The young Kelvic changed back into a human girl. Lowering herself a bit, Shadow grabbed Syl hand. "Here we go," Shadow grunt pulling the hunter. "Hold tight, my muscles are pretty sore." Actually it was the big bruise on her stomach.

"Thanks. That would have hurt quite a bit. The ground has a way of hitting back." Syl dusted herself off by patting her front down with her hands, even though she wasn't dirty. The patting made her become more cool and collected. Noticing Shadow's bruises against her much darker skin in the moonlight she could tell that they might be more severe than she let on, but who was she to try and heal the Kelvic? As far as she knew was that if she kept a nice smile that that would be the place to bite the leopard if she began to get hungry and the Kelvic fainted from the injury.

Though for now this leopard Kelvic with the name shadow felt like more beneficial as an acquaintance than an enemy so Syl kept up her act of being a fellow hunter, for now.

"I think it's time we began to dish out the spoils. You said you wanted enough to serve as your next couple of meals? How about I just throw these guts into this little bag here and give you the rest of the meat? I think that seems fair. As for the rest of the creature...a fine bounty indeed."

Syl climbed her way back down the tree to the forest floor and grabbed the skinning knives from the hunting kit.

Then knealing down on one knee Syl began to honor the buck for lending itself to the pair as sustenance in the world.

"Thank, you, creature of the woods for providing us with this humble blessing that you can only give once. May Dira guide your soul into the afterlife to a place of greater joy. Thank you."

Syl then stood up after ending the prayer with a motion across her forehead and landing on top of her heart to begin making the first cut from the butt to the neck of the buck and on the top and bottom between each pair of legs she made intersecting lines. This way it would be easier to pull out the contents without ripping the fur.

The stench of a fresh kill filled the air. "Ahh, such a sweet smell this one."

Shadow River

Shadow jumps onto a different branch and transform back into a cat. It's here where she closely watches the hunter do her work. Taking mental notes, Shadow ignored her hunger. Will I have to say the prayer? The feline grunted, I have no interest in any gods or prayers.

Shadow never had any interests in gods. She barely believes in them in the first place. To her, most of the stuff is just are stories to remind her to be a good person. The young Kelvic tried her best to be respectful every time someone made a prayer.

Syl turns her head to watch Shadow behind her taking note of her inquisitive nature. "Ah, yes I imagine that you must usually have just used an animal for a meal. It is much different when you intend to share. The first thing you must do is remove the guts. This is the messy part." Syl walks over to a small collection of rocks picks one up and rubs it against her clothing to wipe the dirt off of it. Then takes it back over to where the buck hung and placed it on

the ground. She continues this while conversing with Shadow explaining that she is going to be making a sort of a bowl platform to gather the guts in a sack. She then opens another one of her extra rucksacks and lays it over the rock bowl formation inside out. Then with her gloved hands and even her sharp fingers, Syl reaches in to feel for the end of the intestines. Her hand is surrounded by a warmth of the living, one that will soon be extinguished since, the whole reason to dress an animal is to remove the heat from the body for longer preservation.

She soon finds the end of the intestine and clamps down on it with her thumb and index fingers of her left hand. Then she takes her right hand with one of the skinning knives meant for cutting soft gut tissues to sever the bond it has with the buck. The intestine weighs down on her left arm due to gravity sliding itself out of the buck's body slightly. Then she uses her right hand to find the other end of the intestines by sliding her hand downward inside the buck.

"There we are."

Syl says as she severs the last bond of the intestines, pulling them out with her left hand holding the top and her right hand balancing the weight of it all before tossing it into the rucksack in the bowl rock formation. Syl continues this method for each of the remaining organs. The stomach will make a very nice waterskin to use in the future, and the other organs will each have a new purpose. Though Syl will have to find a reliable water source to clean the organs out sometime later to create these items. So, since there is not a water source within walking distance she throws a bit of the preservation salts onto the organs in the rucksack. Then she takes the edges of the rucksack and ties it with a string. The weight of all the organs signifies that this was indeed a healthy buck.

"I don't think our friend here skipped many meals."

The next step was to remove the fatty tissue. This tissue could be used to make soaps, oils for cooking, and many other uses. Though there wasn't that much in this creature to even really mess with Syl would throw that in with the meat portion for Shadow because it would add a bit of flavor.

Syl turned to Shadow with her arms fully covered in the buck's internal juices and asked her, "Are you ready to get in on this? Tell me which parts of meat you'd prefer to keep and which ones you don't want. You'll need to wear a glove and use the third knife there in the roll to cut the meat from the bone.

Shadow River

Shadow jumped in her human form, squealing like a piglet while waving her hands all about."I get to help, yah! Thank the gods!" Then she hugged Syl with all her might. Well, the feline did that in her mind. In reality she stood up in her cat form and meowed. She was thankful Syl is showing interest in teaching her a few things. Hmm, maybe we can partners. That may be a great possibility but, Shadow doesn't like looking completely callow. So the chances are, Shadow will take whatever she learns here and perfect it before meeting up with Syl to do a job.

Jumping and morphing into a human midair, Shadow River lands in a crouch poise. Standing up the young Kelvic looks down and realizes that's she naked. She has been naked every time, it is only now the youngster notices that she's not even being tiniest bit of modest. The she-cat thinks back at the times her family tried to 'train' her. She inadvertently rubs her bottom thinking about her many beatings for running around naked. [i] Mother would kill me right now.[i] The dark figure raises one figure. "Wait a chime or two. I'm going to change into my undergarments."

Shadow runs into the darkness where she has hidden her clothes. She pulls out undergarments which are a simple breast ban and short underpants that hold tight to her shape. She check her dress and other possessions making sure everything is there and no thieves has been praying on her items. When she was confident everything is safe and sound. Shadow returns to her temporary teacher. Borrowing a knife and glove. She takes a look at her meal.

"I'll have the whole back strip," she says pointing to the top of the buck's back. "Oh obviously his neck and chuck will not be any use of you," Shadow this points to the neck and chest area. "Then if you allow me. I'll take his top round and bottom round," she says referring to the buck's bottom. " You can keep his hind shanks, plate and ribs, arms and front shanks. Those should go for a good price. Now can you show me the most proper way to cut the meat without ruining the skin?"

"Ahh, yes. To do that we must remove the skin from the body to really get in at the meat. You make a cut here."

Syl said while moving Shadow's hand around the deers neck slowly to make a circle all the way around to start rolling the skin upwards and out of the way.

"...and here. Next we start to peel the skin away from the body slowly. Slowly because you risk ripping the skin. Just take a light grip, place the knife in between the skin and the muscles and cut the tendons loose going in a circular pattern while keeping it even all the way around."

Syl then gets in close to make a few rounds of the buck's neck and begins to slowly roll up the skin to separate the fine coat. After making it up to about the chest area she offers to take Shadow's hand and guide her once more to show her how the process feels before seeing if she can do it without being guided.

Shadow River

Shadow was a little tense when Syl touched her but, she let the hunter guide her. The she-cat trained her eyes on the meat at all moments. After a few helps from Syl, she shrugged away from the other hunter and muttered, "Thank you miss." Shadow gently grabbed the skin on the healthy buck. Going for the back strip, going in a circluar motion with the knife, she started removing the skin.

Shadow had hold her breath a few times, because every time she would breath in the fresh kill, her stomach would growl. Just reminding her to eat and soon. Shadow hated being hungry but,not for the same reason most do. When Shadow is hungry, she knows she is weaker than usual. Which translate that she is more vulnerable to potential threats. Which also translates into injury or worse.

Shadow knows about Syl kind. The she-cat isn't racist though, she would be acting the same way around a human. But humans don't have venom. Syl could take out Shadow right now, if she choose to. It only takes one bite. Right now her stomach is doing back flips. "Calm down you, don't let you paranoia/instincts get the better of you. Stay and learn." She whispers to herself taking in a deep breath. Her nerves stop jumping at once.
