A smile went across Syl's face as she felt a slight shrug from Shadow as a sign to let go and watch the impromptu student of the day. For a moment it saddened her because it sort of felt like the daughter she would never get to raise even if...if...a tear began to form in her eyes.

"You're doing good Shadow. Keep going. I...I...need to go sit down."

Syl went over to the nearest tree bent down to the ground turned and faced Shadow that was very enthusiastically engaged in toying with the buck. The smile on her face increased in size as her head felt heavy. Her neck became weak as her hands caught her forehead. And then it happened, Syl could not hold back her emotions of joy and sadness any longer. She was happy with a smile that she had the capability to show someone how to skin a buck, but so very sad reaching to the deepest pitted well of sorrow, the fact that she could have no children in her life to impart her knowledge.

She moans hushedly trying to keep the sound from reaching the shadow and laughing in between cries. Her nose warmed along with the tear ducts in her eyes that let a slow flood of happy sorrow flow.

Shadow River

Shadow is almost done skinning when her stomach again rumbles furiously. The young Kelvic licks her lips, goes for a bite. A little one... surely Syl wouldn't mind Shadow getting one bite. Syl? Shadow has been so indulge in getting the meat away from skin, which takes bells to do, she hasn't noticed the hunter moving away from her side. Shadow sensitive ears hear Syl laughs and moans. The she-cat doesn't dare look over at the woman. I should be polite and pretend I don't notice. She probably wants to be alone. Yet the she-cat can feel her friend's sadness pull at her own heart.

Shadow goes on her knees, then starts crawling toward Syl. Her grey cat pupils wide in curiosity and sympathy. When the two are only a few spaces a part, Shadow purrs with a small smile. Knowing she must look adorable. My beauty is the best cure in the world.

Then she reaches behind hunter's left ear and gives it a little scratch. "You know, when I feel sad. I get someone to scratch behind my ears. It feels soooo good," Shadow purrs. "I can never reach behind there. Plus it feels amazing for it to be coming from someone."

We all want to be different. I guess that makes us all the same. No?
