How unusual... [Fabuki Kouri]

The ghost's reaction had not been what Cyrus had expected, the loud shriek had drawn some eyes but for the most part the people went about their business. The warrior felt his skin crawl in revulsion as Kouri clung tighter to his arm, her presence was very uncomfortable but bearable. Cyrus had gained from the outburst that whatever happened with her parents was very unpleasant, most likely it had to due with her current state, however that was speculation on his part.

The warrior placed his hand on her head again, trying to give the child what little comfort he could give. His goals were certainly not pure but even he had a heart, somewhere. The sight of crying children, dead or otherwise, was one of the few things capable of tugging his black heart strings. He made a low hushing sound that his mother had often used with him when he had been a young child.

"I'm sorry I brought up an unpleasant memory, Miss Kouri." Cyrus said, genuinely feeling a degree of remorse for causing the spirit some form of pain.

A future brutal dictator he might be but even a villain had a heart, her situation was truly pitiable. A young girl doomed to walk the world until she found closure, such a crime.

Slowly, but surely, Cyrus' attempt of calming her down was working and Kouri started to relax, oh how she wanted to just slumber on his arm right now just like she used to do after her mother calmed her down when she threw tantrums, but her now undead state prevented her from doing so as she can feel no drowsiness coming to her.

"I'm sorry I brought up an unpleasant memory, Miss Kouri."

"....u-uhm..." Calming herself some more, Kouri started to explain her history, specifically the part where her family was journeying in the Falyndar Jungle, the tiger's attack, and her current mission of searching for her parents. "I-I'm sure t-they're still out there, somewhere, also searching for me, s-so, c-can you help me, Sir Cyrus?" Kouri said that as she gazed into Cyrus' dark eyes, her expression is that of a girl facing her would-be saviour.

How unusual... [Fabuki Kouri]

Postby Cyrus Blackfire on April 3rd, 2013, 3:34 pm

As Cyrus listened to the ghost's story he felt another twang of pity bite at his heart. The poor girl probably didn't want to realize that her parents were dead, it was likely due to this denial that she was now cursed with unlife. He doubted that telling her the truth would help much, no doubt others had listened to her story and had told her the truth, which she likely denied. It was highly unfortunate but there was little that Cyrus could do, now anyway. He was but a warrior with dreams of conquest, he couldn't give the girl much in the way of help.

"I, unfortunately, have ties binding me here at the moment, Kouri." Cyrus said, sighing slightly.

"While I may not be able to be of much help, let me give you a small piece of advice. When you want something enough never let anything stand in your way, you know what you want and that should be enough." The warrior said at length.

They were words Cyrus certainly believed in, words he lived by everyday. If Kouri applied herself with the same drive he had no doubt she would find the answers she sought. As much as he was loathe to cast aside a potential resource he would not come between this spirit and her search for the truth, he could relate in some way considering his quest was one many considered mad.

"I, unfortunately, have ties binding me here at the moment, Kouri."

It's always like that, it's always the same, every person every being that she ever told them her story always answered in a similar way, 'I can't help you...', 'I'm sorry, but your parents are dead.', '...May the gods grant you peace...', and the usual 'Go away, ghost!'.

"Uhuk..." Kouri started to sob and cried on Cyrus' arm, trying to assure herself that her parents are indeed still alive and those people are liars or simply didn't know what they are saying. This time however, her resolve started to weaken.

"Ahaha... Sir Cyrus, that's right... that's right, i-i-i-if... perhaps... my parents are dead... perhaps... I've been searching in futility up until now..." Kouri closed her eyes and continued her sobbing.

"While I may not be able to be of much help, let me give you a small piece of advice. When you want something enough never let anything stand in your way, you know what you want and that should be enough."

Those words struck her hard, real HARD, and Kouri felt something snapped inside herself.

"HOWEVER!" Suddenly her eyes snapped open, her hair started to float upwards as if being blown by an ethereal breeze, and her soulmist swirling rapidly around her."I've had... ENOUGH!! ENOUGH! ENOUGH ENOUGH!! That beast is still alive, yes! I know it is! And I want to kill it! Rip out its throat with my own hands!!! Hahahahah!! HAHAHAHA!" Kouri released Cyrus' arm, jumped to the table in front of her and faced Cyrus. "And to do that... I want to be stronger... I want to be the strongest person in the WORLD!!! So... Sir Cyrus" Kouri politely bowed to him, then lifted her head as she said this "Can you help me? To be stronger? And I will do everything in my power to help you back..."

How unusual... [Fabuki Kouri]

Postby Cyrus Blackfire on April 3rd, 2013, 5:07 pm

Cyrus was very certain that the ghost had just given him a slight heart attack with her sudden out burst, he was also certain that the eyes of those sitting nearby were upon him. He had not expected his words to have that kind of impact upon the spirit, nor did he expect her to ask for his assistance in gaining power. Her promise to assist him in return certainly did not escape his notice, which left him pondering for a moment. He had been ready to cast aside the notion of using this girl, but the sudden drive within her was strong, very strong. He could see the resolve in her eyes, it was rather intriguing.

The gears were already turning in his mind, having a ghost in his debt would be a very powerful asset, especially if he gave her a little assistance. The warrior had never actually trained someone before, however there was a first time for everything. As he looked at her he knew that swordplay would likely be out of the question, at least until he assessed the power of the mist that surrounded her. Magic, however, that was another possibility all together. Could ghosts even learn magic?

He leaned in closer to the table, looking around at the patrons around him, who had returned to their business. Satisfied he kept his voice low.

"I may be able to help you, Kouri. I know little about the nature of ghosts but I would be willing to learn. First, you must tell me, what do you know of magic?" His said, carefully looking about to ensure that no one had heard.

Cyrus was always very careful in speaking about magic, many people were very suspicious of its practice and it always helped to have a weapon no one expected in reserve. If Kouri couldn't learn magic he would find some other way to help foster her talents, having a ghost as a potential asset was a very potent thing. She could be very, very useful in his rise to power.

!!! What did I just do? U-u-uhmm... h-he might find me to be impoli-. Kouri was beginning to falter in her determination when she thought she didn't live up to her mother's expectations of being the 'perfect' lady, this time however, she shook her head and grunts.

CURSE THAT!! I've had enough of that!! I'm sorry, mother... it's time I forge a path of my own. I do not care whether it will break the morals you have taught me, I'll be the strongest person in the world and NOTHING can stop me... her lips curled up into a sinister grin as she finally broke from her past memories, these things were hindering her and she realized that now, if she were to avenge her parents, she would have to become strong, cold, and uninhibited.

This man in front of her, Sir Cyrus Blackfire, can help her achieve her goals, she was sure of it, and perhaps after her vengeance is complete, it would not be a wrong decision to place her full loyalty towards this man. She had nothing left to lose anyway and if eternal loyalty is the price for vengeance then so be it.

"I may be able to help you, Kouri. I know little about the nature of ghosts but I would be willing to learn. First, you must tell me, what do you know of magic?"

Magic? Aaah... I know, Sir Cyrus is one of those people called... "mages", yes, wizards and the like... Kouri was not very familiar with the topic, but she was not blind either, in her journeys with her family, she met all sorts of people, including mages.

"Hmmm... magic, Sir Cyrus?" Kouri put her right hand to her chin as she float down and sit on the chair across from Cyrus.

"Well... from what I know, to use magic, you must be able to channel... hmm what's that thing called? Dey.. dje... aaah! Djed! Yes, Djed, and then wizards casted some incantations or something and.. BOOM!" Kouri waved her hands in the air as she said the onomatopoeia for explosion.

"Am I correct? Hehehe~ Though, I'm not sure I can use Djed, but would you like to see my powers, Sir? Ehehe~" Kouri then proceeded to shape her Soulmist into her familiar tendrils and used the tendrils to pickup the eating knife on Cyrus' table, the knife now floating in the air, its handle wrapped in her tendrils. "Hehehe... I can even... throw it.." to prove her point, Kouri hurled the knife to the table, its bladed end piercing the wooden surface and was now standing straight up.

"I still can't pick up heavy things yet though... but I'm sure when I get stronger, I can even pick up..." Kouri eyed the huge blade resting on the wall behind Cyrus, his greatsword, and pointed her left index finger to the sword "that... overgrown sword".

"I can also... hmm, how do you say it? Aaah... go 'inside' someone and take control of their body, ehehehe~" Kouri giggled as she said so "But uhm... I'm not good at that yet, it still felt strange... being inside someone else's body and... I only had done that to sleeping children, when I tried it to a merchant, he just pushed me out and ran away terrified.. awww..."

How unusual... [Fabuki Kouri]

Cyrus was rather disappointed that she lacked the ability to use magic, a ghost reimancer would be a fearsome thing to behold in his opinion. Still as she displayed her other abilities his disappointment died away, her powers certainly made up for the lack of magical potential. The fact that she was completely ethereal and untouchable by most creatures was valuable enough, he could only imagine how potent her abilities would be when brought to their full potential. The warrior very intrigued when he heard about her possession ability, he'd heard the rumors of course but had never imagined they would be true.

There was much promise for a very beneficial relationship with Kouri, with enough training and focus there was no limits to what uses she could have. Infiltrator, perhaps even an assassin, though that was getting ahead of the current situation. Still Cyrus was always one for looking ahead to the future, and he could easily see this ghost standing at his side as a lieutenant when he brought about his vision.

Cyrus was not yet sure he would share his vision with her however, he would need to be sure that she would be loyal enough to him. After all it was not every day that a person told you they intended to create an empire that would last for a thousand years. Still he would need to share some information with the ghost, otherwise the relationship would be difficult to maintain.

A slow smile spread across his face as he regarded the ghost, his dark eyes calculating.

"I am most impressed with your powers, dear girl, in awe even. With enough training and practice there is no end to what you can accomplish, and I am willing to help you along on that path." Cyrus said, his tone friendly and companionable.

"I intend to join the Syliran Knights, but you could say my plans span far beyond them. Plans that might have a place for someone like yourself, Kouri, should you wish it." He said, deciding not to give too much away at one time.

He would take the girl under his wing and help her however he could, foster her abilities to unimaginable heights that she may achieve her vengeance. In return she would serve Cyrus in the capacities he needed for her, he would see to it that she would strike fear into the hearts of his enemies.

"I am most impressed with your powers, dear girl, in awe even. With enough training and practice there is no end to what you can accomplish, and I am willing to help you along on that path."

Kouri's growing self-confidence was further reinforced by Cyrus' statement, in the past her parents always said she will be a great singer just like her mother. Well mama, papa... you're half-right, I'm going to be someone great, just not a singer... I'm going to be something... else, I don't care if I'm to maim, kill, or burn, as long as Sir Cyrus is satisfied, that's enough for me...

"I intend to join the Syliran Knights, but you could say my plans span far beyond them. Plans that might have a place for someone like yourself, Kouri, should you wish it."

After hearing that the offer, Kouri immediately came to a decision, she closed her eyes and nodded "Of course, Sir... after my vengeance is complete, I will follow you even to the gates of oblivion." Yes, she was sure, once her revenge is complete, this man, Cyrus Blackfire, can give her unlife a whole new goal.

Cyrus' smile only widened at the ghost's words, he had her now, the first soldier in his army. She would be a high piece indeed when all was said and done, a nearly indispensable asset to his cause. Kouri's new drive seemed to be vengeance, a goal that was easily manipulated to what he needed and he would help her achieve it. Though she was young the warrior did not doubt the sincerity of her words, she would be loyal.

He leaned back in his chair, grabbing the cup of water he had left unattended for the whole night and raised it before him.

"A toast then, my ethereal friend, to a hopefully long and prosperous relationship." He said, before downing the small cup in one draught.

Cyrus was rather pleased by tonight's events, what had started as merely an observation sit in had turned into an asset acquisition. An asset he had no doubt would prove valuable indeed. Oh, yes tonight was quite a good night.

OOCHmmm, seems like the thread is heading to an end, since you're the OP, I think you should end the thread when you feel that it's time and I will post it to the Storyteller office to be graded.

I do wish for Kouri and Cyrus to continue their adventures, it would be very interesting. I shall PM you once this thread ends for new thread ideas and of course, you can share me your threading ideas as well.

"A toast then, my ethereal friend, to a hopefully long and prosperous relationship."

Kouri giggled and smiled like a little girl that had just received her birthday present "And to you as well, Sir Cyru- no... Master" Kouri felt that this man, the man who's willing to help her in her quest for vengeance and give her a new goal in her unlife, deserved to be called as her 'Master'.

"May I call you 'Master', Master?" Kouri fidgeted with her fingers and touched her cheeks "It's just... I want to call you that, ehehe~" Kouri strode over to Cyrus' side, materialized herself, and hugged his right arm "So... I will be following you from now on, okay, Master? I still want to take a look around this city, but I promise I won't stray anywhere too far"

At last, the lost ghost girl was lost no more for she has found a person in her unlife to look up to.
