Spring 43, 513 AV You know what they say, power is power. Even in it's rawest, uncontrollable form if powerful enough was sought after even with the risks involved. That's why Bolivar opted to learn reinmancy even being part of the Coglias clan. It was not because he felt he was not able enough amongst his brothers but rather he delved into the field seeing it's potential. Though many imagine a burning inferno through their own machination Bolivar saw the chance of ingenuity if applied correctly. The notion being reassured seeing the power of even minor glyphs reinforced Bolivar's thoughts on the matter. Power was power after all. Whether it was controllable or not was purely up to the wielder. If your way does not work find another way. This not only strengthened my mastery of the wind elements but I've discovered more ways how not to manipulate my djed then I care to tell. Among those discoveries was the chance to notice something new to build on an aspect of wind reinmancy. Though dead ends certainly littered the path this trial and error method was good experience for Bolivar. The straight path to the answer was certainly the most sought after path but almost always did life get in the way during our journey. We may take a few steps in the wrong direction, perhaps backtrack and try another way, sometimes we may even have wanted to wander and stall out in our traveling. Who is to say that way was without merit? The most basic aspiration for those studying wind reinmancy was how to make their manipulations stronger, the wind heavier and the overall effect more destructive. For Bolivar life knocked him off the path again and again until he did not recognize which way was forward anymore. In this time he learned how to be more subtle with his reinmancy. How applying pressure in different places made for a grander effect. Even how to condense the wind to make a cutting gale was not out of the question. Finally he made it to the first checkmark of the long winding road all a magister of reinmancy took. Looking back Bolivar did not see a straight path that from where he started but a well traveled and wide avenue of possibilities that touched on the many aspects of the wind manipulation. “Section ten. Glyphing to complement reinmancy.” This was once again one of those options that Bolivar was testing. The underlying goal was to store powerful wind magics in the scrolls but he kept his mind open for other possible uses. Right as usual it went over the book went over the basics of glyphing as it always did. The circle of power the trigger the barrier all somehow mish mashed together to make what others felt was an convoluted and picky scroll. “I hesitate every time someone would attribute something to be simple. Much more can be expanded on and experienced if given a chance.” His self musing was slightly getting louder noticing the odd look from a passerby. Nodding quietly passing off the notion as a one time thing Bolivar went back to work on his supportive world magic. Alright let's start with something simple. Unconsciously rubbing his thumb against his index finger Bolivar breathed in quietly as he culminated in the djed from his body. There was no need to rush this gathering of his powers. As the day would wane on Bolivar knew he would appreciate his meticulous method feeling djed from all over his body gather in near his hand. Stop. Exhaling slowly Bolivar coughed feeling parched as he meditated on what he should instill into the scroll. Still rubbing his thumb on his index finger Bolivar rubbed his chin in thought wondering which form of wind manipulation would be most helpful in a field situation. Finally his thumb stopped moving as he pointed out with both his middle and index finger in front of him. Envisioning that mass of djed stored up in his arm Bolivar slowly pressed the mass together putting up an opening on the tips of his fingers. Pressure from a large force and being crammed into a tight area which has yet to open. More and more and more of the djed getting pressured until finally he released. Quickly exiting his body Bolivar attracted as much air as possible into the small mass of djed to give it some mass and weight... The imprint on the grass the wind djed made looked as if someone threw a decently sized stone straight down with all their might. Bolivar gave a deadpan stare at the demonstration as he rolled his sleeves up ready to do more. Right something like that would not be needed in a scroll of mine. Thrumming his hand on the ground Bolivar continued making the motion in the air as he once more gathered the djed together. “What's wrong with just putting a simple, strong air blast in for now?” Once more Bolivar mimicked his earlier actions with forming his djed compressing, pushing and pushing it through his scars in his hand. Exhaling loudly Bolivar let out a muted voice in pain. It burned sometimes when he pictured the clump of djed exiting out of his hand. Not always did he feel this pain but when he did the discomfort he felt was like having a needle stuck deep into his hand. Having the pressurized ball of djed formed Bolivar added more and more to the mass until it was about the size of his fist before making his way to his feet. Applying an attraction of nearby winds on the outer shell Bolivar aimed up high for with his ball of djed before throwing it with all his might. Ball was nearing the outsides of his range Bolivar incited the pressurized clump within the sphere. The resulting attraction created a dense ball of compressed air to shoot out faster then he had thrown, an accompanying whoosh and strong wind as Bolivar himself felt the pull pushing of the winds behind him. “That seems much too conspicuous to be walking around with. But I suppose it will have to do.” Collapsing into back to the ground Bolivar could still feel the remnants of djed outside of his system. Too late to be of use bin my body. Not too late for some mild entertainment. Slowly pointing at the flickers of djed outside of him Bolivar went back to work on his glyphing. “The trigger will have just be me saying some sort of incantation. Even a mere catchphrase would do.” With his right hand he wrote down the keyword to activate his glyph. It shall be triggered when I say something simply like Zephyrdere in my home tongue. With his left hand he directed a small drop of djed quickly side to side with his finger before finally applying a pull. The first part of word meaning word and sometime attached to it so that it would not go off if some stray isurian was making a comment on the wind. Repeating the motion with his left hand this time Bolivar flicked the stray piece of djed out to holding until the last moment to have it attract a slight breeze. Would be much more entertaining if there I had more. “...Right. Quiet you.” Writing down the inscription for the barrier Bolivar made a point to apply make sure the barrier he described was strong and robust enough for the amount of djed being put in it. Feeling for the remains of the leftovers Bolivar described a small two lined spiral in his palm as he worked. Though perhaps he wrote down a barrier that exaggerated his current strength. Now all that was left was to put in the circle of power. “How are you doing that?" Looking up Bolivar found a pair of curious eyes suddenly upon him. Do what? Following the little girl's gaze Bolivar's eyes went to his left hand taking in the slight gale that seemed to emanate from his hand. “I do not mean to do that.” Without realizing it the squire was putting out more and more 'leftover djed' during his writings. Oddly enough Bolivar still had the discipline to gather djed from the entirety of his body rather then just his arm. That in itself also presented a problem the squire realized as he could have well done this for probably ten more chimes before realizing it. Coughing slightly Bolivar hemmed all of the light traces of djed left and gathered it in his left hand. Inhaling deep Bolivar heaved forward giving a muted blow as he pushed the remaining djed he had towards the little girl. Applying the slightest of attractions for the wind Bolivar exhaled after seeing the amused child cry out in astonishment. “Wow! You didn't even blow but I felt it.” Giving a slightly amused look and then a curious glance at the girl Bolivar motioned the young child away. “That slight of movement attracted your attention? Curious. And that makes me even more curiouser. Go on then. Should not be bothering strangers.” Watching the youngster go off Bolivar mused quietly at the small encounter. What have we learned? “Small subtle little phenomena attracts attention.” How can we use that to our advantage. “Diversion. Also possible to attract unwitting foes into a trap or clump. Easy to know what happens after that.” So you've found a possible spell to consider for glyphing after all.”Indeed I have.” Getting to work Bolivar went on glyphing two minor scrolls. The triggered word for this shall be Gale Aren. Then the two other scrolls to accompany it shall be called Polarity the trigger word being the name of the scroll followed by the word push and reverse polarity followed by the word pull. Getting to work the first two glyphs were a minor affair for Bolivar barely putting any conscious effort into his strokes though appraising the final pieces. Summoning forth his djed Bolivar placed both hands above each scroll as he imagined the two line spirals from each hand going into the scroll. Though a light effect the paper reacted with the djed properly as Bolivar continuously applied the streaming amount of djed well past a chime or two. Breathing hard Bolivar tried to catch his breathe trying to keep his body in equilibrium. Sometimes the subtle reinmancies were the most taxing. Impossible. I simply can't fill in the holes in my body since I don't have anything to left to put in. Going to his backpack Bolivar went for his water skin as he drank in the entirety of the container. The taste of leathery water was in no way satisfying but it help some to alleviate the feelings of loss within him. Shall we continue? We are nearly done and over with this session. “Quiet you. We'll go when I'm good and ready.” Breathing heavily Bolivar simply sat in silence. Patiently waiting for his breathing to slow and his searing pain to recede. “Alright ready.” Once again the process of the condensed ball of res formed this time over his right hand. Forming simple limbs on the ball of res Bolivar concentrated on taking that ball of res and forming a shape with the now shrinking ball. The small disappearing into a multitude of legs that encircled in his hand like a disheveled disk Bolivar started the elemental manipulation of the wind once more. To be specific the repulsion of the element. As the outer shell of the djed started to carry out it's task Bolivar's hands started to quake with the strong air pushing against him. Positioning himself above the glyph Bolivar eased himself into position before fully enveloping his djed to push the wind away. Shoving the unstable djed into the glyph quickly Bolivar panted in anticipation as he looked at the disheveled paper. “Patience my prize.” Flattening down the paper Bolivar prepared the final glyph of the day. Similar to the process before Bolivar simply made the djed to form a shape closer to his hand. This time causing a strong attraction to the winds Bolivar readjusted his footing after being pulled forward slightly from the force before easing the spell down on the glyph. The pull from the spell almost seemed to threaten to pull Bolivar into the glyph as he nearly crumpled the paper in his haste. Beads of sweat were already forming on the squire as he wiped his brow. Flattening the paper down Bolivar eased himself up from his spot in the park. A productive day for the squire for sure. Though it might take a day or two to feel at my best. Rubbing his annoyance in mild annoyance Bolivar's tongue went to the roof of his mouth trying to somehow scratch an itch in his dry mouth. A condition of overgiving for sure. Looking himself over Bolivar checked to make sure he wasn't actually leaking djed like before. They have told stories of reinmancers that could not turn off their djed manipulations and realized too late of their condition. Swallowing air Bolivar's mind was on finding a cool refreshing drink. Then perhaps a walk after. Anything to keep his mind off reinmancy for awhile. You'll think about it sooner or later. “Quite right.” |
