[Plaza of the Crimson Arm] Trazen! (Kaili)

Postby Smithis on April 20th, 2013, 8:18 pm

„She seems like a nice girl. For a Terras“ mother's words were clear cut, and audible to none other than her younger son.
„Don't start...“
„I didn't mean anything by it – I'm merely saying that she's pleasing, even if her arm color is a little offputting“ the mother seemed rather expecting while observing Kaili and Valon's moment, but unlike her Smithis wasn't entertained enough to completely resolve his own uneasiness towards the situation. It all somehow felt like she came to find him only because he'd asked her if she was going... which might've meant an indirect way of asking her to go... It was too much for him to process so he'd just turn to mother „Are we really going to have the clan talk again, mother? You of all people should know how little color means in face of... other things. Not that I like her or anything“ he'd add just to set the tone proper.
„I did know once. Funny how things get stirred with time.“ She'd slouch a bit over the last part. Was she sad? Smithis couldn't tell, sad and his mother didn't really go together in a sentence.
„You don't regret your choices, at least not anymore“ he'd state what was a fact to him
„Indeed“ she'd hug her son which made the child slightly uncomfortable, but if it was for her, he'd deal with it for the moment.

Valon wasn't easily disheartened. When Kaili, as he now knew the girl, refused to give him her hand it only made him invest more. After all if she had been so over the moon by meeting him she'd never be seen with his little brother. „I don't know what Smithy here said about me, but I can assure you I'm a gentleman proper“ as he talked he'd first look over his shoulder and then he'd move a bit to the side. Just to be sure she saw him with his mommy, such a child. If that didn't put her away from him, then maybe they were better left alone. She had no time for such nonsense. „What do you say we go for a walk – I'm sure my brother wouldn't mind parting with a sweet thing like you if it was only for a few chimes?“ he wasn't even looking at this family, because if he was, he'd have noticed the small laughs both of them let out as he... well whatever it was he was doing.

Kaili frowned as Valon continued to talk, even as she'd tried her hardest to make him go away. He was so annoying...

"No." She stated simply, moving her glare to him. She was certainly using the expression quite a lot this evening. "And what do you mean 'sweet'? And 'gentleman'?" She continued, still glaring at Valon. His entire statement had shown how stupid he was. And worst of all... Smithy?! She was quite sure her student would never allow his brother to call him that! And he asked her to go on a walk with him... he really was dull.

Deciding that the best plan would be to ignore him, and move her attention to the two more sensible people, she did so. "So... it's nice to meet you...?" She left the last hanging, not quite sure what the woman's name was. Kaili knew that she probably should have known the answer, but it had escaped her mind, and she didn't really know how to start a conversation well. Maybe they would ask questions, or better: she could go home. Parties annoyed her so much...

She smiled slightly after she heard the mother and son laugh at Valon, understanding that this was a common occurence. How could anyone stand the boy? Where did he get this sort of idea... flirting with every girl he met. She was probably twice his age or something. He looked like, what, 45?

Valon didn't seem offended even when Kaili started to ignore him, or at least he didn't appear such. Instead he'd turn towards two of his family and have his mother pull him to the other side of her.
In reply to Kaili's question, if that's what it was, the parent would speak „It was. Valon and I'll be leaving now too, try to have some fun children.“ She'd nod once to each of them and tugg her elder offspring along through the crowd. For a moment Smithis could swear he'd seen his elder brother giving him a strange look, but the moment was gone and it was all but forgotten.

„I apologize for my family. They are a colorful bunch“ then he'd smile at just how literal those words had been „But they really mean well for most part. Even my brother.“ Even though he didn't like conflict, Smithis rather liked how Kaili stood his brother up – especially after hearing that 'Smithy' bit.
„What of your family?“ he'd add of course „Where do they usually spend these things?“ he'd still try to figure out if he was really in the position to make decisions for the both of them, but he did really want to go have a drink or two with Devir. Besides, what harm could come from it? On the other hand, he didn't really want the smith to follow him around if she wasn't feeling up to it – but how to tell her that without having her take it like an insult? He'd wait to see in what spirits Kaili was before doing anything more.

Kaili felt very relieved as the two left, more comfortable with someone she actually knew. Smithis' mother was nice, but seemed... strange, to say the least, and Valon was just plain annoying. Her shoulders relaxed visibly, and only then did she realize how stiff she had been in their company.

"My parents coming for the business side, talking with rich customers, making 'friends' and such... though they do talk to real friends of theirs. They don't mind social gatherings that much, and my sister quite likes them." She smiled slightly, comparing her family relationship with Smithis'. In truth, he had the hard side of the bargain... he must be really skilled in social situations having to put up with that group... Kaili's parent's were understanding and kind, and as different as her sister was, the two still got along quite well.

"So... what were you planning on doing the rest of today?" She asked politely, then yawned widely. Just then she realized also how tired she was... she'd been working all day, and now staying up late. The Isur also welcomed the feeling, finding it possibly a good excuse to get home. Her parents wouldn't mind if she left early, as long as she tried to socialize... The smith yawned again, and gave her student an apologetic look. "I'm so sorry..."Another yawn."I don't know why I'm so tired..." She stretched her arms back, working out a few kinks in her arms, and yawning yet again. She was really so tired... and had never yawned this much before! Another one came but she stifled it, slightly annoyed with the repetition. They were like hiccups... Kaili mentally glared at this, having a personal dislike of hiccups. They were so irritating! She frowned slightly, not understanding the continued repetition.

Smithis would nod at Kaili's words. He wasn't aware the siblings could be so different when it came to social activities, but then again no one would assume him and Valon to ever be related. Her words caused him to look at her funny. „I belive it's already been said. I'm going to drink a bit with Devir – don't get too many opportunities to be as irresponsible as I'd like“ then he'd nod toward her „How about you? You did explain what the rest of your family was doing here, but I'd give this arm“ and he'd raise his left „to the conviction that you rather dislike most people“ he'd wave his hand as if giving up the thought „Nevermind, I won't pry“ then he'd gesture to the side „Would you like to join us?“ it was only curteous to extend invitation, just lik it was perfectly acceptable for her to refuse. All in good spirit of course.

He'd wait for her to decide, but truthfully, Smithis wasn't too thorn about her thoughts on the matter. She was awkward, and bringing her along would probably make the rest of his night awkward. It was easy to deal with this though, especially if you needed to put up with Valon every day. This was Kaili, so it was quite likely she'd choose to stay where she was until she was bored enough to leave for the warmth of her forge. Whatever made her parents happy, right? Somehow that sounded strangely familiar.

Kaili thought on this for a moment, considering the options. She could stay with Smithis... be irritated all night, and probably make his day worse in the process... or, she could go home, with both of them happy, though her parents might disaprove. Though... she'd talked to her student and his family, right? That was all they wanted... So, the choice of leaving seemed the best option, and was the most attractive.

"So... I think the best thing for me would be to head home. I hope you don't mind" she said apologetically, rolling her shoulders. Not like she was sorry for the decision though... It wasn't like the younger Isur would care that much, since her presence would probably not be so appreciated either. "Goodbye" She finished, raising her hand in farewell.

The smith turned around and left, shoving through the crowds in the direction of home. It seemed to take a shorter time on the way back, though she barely avoided several collisions, but she finally reached emptier space. Once there, she quickened her pace back home to her peace and quiet. Finally... the horror of the mass Isur party was over. Kaili relaxed visibly, much calmer now out of the throng.
