"Aaaaaaaaaaahahahahaha~!! The seaaaaaaaaaaaaaa~!!!" A haunting high-pitched childish scream can be heard across somewhere at the docks that night, courtesy of Kouri, the ghost girl. If one looked close at one of the piers, one can see an flickering ethereal figure of a little girl wearing a gothic lolita dress running, or rather, floating towards the sea.
A Svefra in the vicinity was jolted by the shrill scream and immediately looked to the direction of the voice. What the petch?! Is that girl going to commit suicide?!! was his thought upon seeing the scene, the girl's blood-splotched white dress and her manner of running suggested that she was a sexual assault victim and tried to commit suicide, at least that's what the Svefra man thought. "W-wait! Don't do it!" He reached out his hand towards her.
"Huh?" Kouri turned around and beamed the man with a smile, while still floating towards the sea "Ehehe~ It's okay, uncle~ I'll be j-u-s-t fi-ne~♥" Kouri put her right index finger to her lips as she... drop down to the ocean. The Svefra just stood there in awe, mouth agape, arms at his side.
Kouri dove to the ocean without any sound whatsoever, smiling all the way. She kept going down and down, admiring the beautiful ocean scenery around her. Woah.... so beautiful... ehehe... Ahahahaha~! Few beings ever got the chance to dive so deep into the ocean, being a ghost has its benefits. After a few moments, she elegantly landed on the ocean floor, and slowly floated forward, exploring the ocean.
As she floated, she started to hum her mother's favorite song, her hauntingly beautiful voice echoed through the sea. |

It was getting late, and the oceans beauty is somewhat dampened by the loss of light. Not that Uleru sees it that way, mind, for there is something to be said of the creatures the thrive in the dark. Millions species with bioluminescence flicker through the water like the golden glow of Syna has fragmented and floated to the ocean floor. A few sea anemones wave garishly coloured tentacles invitingly to lure shiny little fish. And the water itself becomes a beautiful velvety blue much more lovely than the allusive night sky.
Uleru is not to be discounted from the beauty herself, for she throws a phosphorescence to shame the tiny lights that float around her. This night she glows in a particularly vibrant shade of white; all the better to scavenge for crabs with. Since crabs will always, always be in the shadowiest corner.
And having swam around for a few chimes holding her glowing palms in front of her like a blind man she has located the darkest and most remote little hole of them all. So, naturally, it will be loaded with the crawly little buggers. Without hesitation she shoves both hands inside and discovers two things simultaneously: first that it is not, as previously thought, full of crabs; and second that eel pits do not appreciate being disturbed.
A handful of the small, sharped toothed predators latch onto her unprotected fingers while the rest stream out of the hole like an open faucet. Cursing disjointedly in Char the Otani snatches back her fingers and claps her hands together to trap the last few strugglers who were most determined to chew off her appendages. The things are silver-grey, bug eyed, ugly, and make for a tasteless meal in her opinion. But alas here she stands with a fistful of eels and she is not about to waste it.
So still grumbling about the lack of succulent crabs she takes her catch and makes for the shelf of coral off the coast that serves as her bed. And as she swims a catch of song can be heard thrumming through the water, and recognizing the tune, she unconsciously hums along. And this goes on for a chime before she stops herself with a jerk and a simple realization: thats not a waterborne voice. The Charoda have a hauntingly lingering way of speaking below the waves, and even the Otani forgo human vocals when underwater. What in gods names is making that sound.
Her bed forgotten she propels herself towards the voice, following the vibrations of it instead of the sound, for the water has a strange way of disjointing a voice. She searches by her own narrow cast of light and by the small spots of glowing creatures further ahead, but sees nothing. Yet the sound is growing stronger and stronger and... A pair of red shoes are followed by a wide, flouncy dress as a little girl drops from the shelf above her.
The girls presence is unannounced, unexpected and impossible. Extremely long white hair drifts in the shallow current and the dark stains of her dress look harsh against her paleness, she cant be more than a twelve years old. Uleru's mouth drops into an astonished 'o' and splotches of her body suddenly bloom into a shocking yellow. Her eels take the opportunity to wiggle out of her hands in a slippery bid for freedom as she drops a curse in Char that would make a hardened sailor spit his whisky. |

"Oh wow.... It's so beautiful~" Kouri finished her song and looked all around her, before her lies the world hidden from most of the land-dwellers, the floor of the ocean. It was filled with many strange lights and... stuffs, Kouri didn't really know the name of the various sea creatures, but even she could see that this world's beauty rivals, or even beat, the world above.
As she 'swam' through the ocean, she saw a particular fish that catches her eye, it was blue with glowing yellow stripes on its body Ehehe~ So cute~ Kouri then extended her Soulmist tendrils from the back and grabbed the fish with it and pulled it closer to her face. The poor thing panicked at the unnatural touch it felt and tried to escape, but alas, the ghost child was still curious as she examined the fish every detail, turning it from side to side, after a few moments of probing, she let the fish go, its small body immediately scrammed from the location.
Her ethereal eyes noticed a small swarm of... snake-like sea creatures swimming near her and she immediately grabbed one with her tendrils, the animal tried to wriggle its way out, but the ghost's tendrils were too tight for it. "What is this? It looks like a... snake? Ahah! A sea snake perhaps?" Kouri thought out loud. "Aaah oh well, it's ugly anyway..." she let go of the eel and spotted something at the corner of her ethereal eyes, something... bright yellow, taken over by curiosity, Kouri immediately look to her right and spotted bright yellow spots at the area in front of her.
"W-wow! What's that?!" Kouri excitedly shouted and she burst-blinked to the location as to arrive faster, her ethereal body vanishing and appearing each time in a different location nearer to the 'spots'. Finally, Kouri arrived at the spot, her undead eyes heavily focused on it, not noticing the somewhat visible female-shaped 'water' directly in front of her. "Hmmm?" Kouri then materialized herself and attempted to touch the yellow spots. |

Typically, Uleru would save a drowning child. There is nothing anyone so innocent could do to offend Laviku, and she sees no point in offering them to her father. So for every blasphemous sailor she has drowned, just as many children and innocents have been pushed safely back onto docks and ships. And although this child in front of her is out of her element, she looks perfectly fine, is moving unnaturally, and grinning in a decidedly creepy way. Uleru decides right then that she will not save this one.
No. No. That's it. I draw the line. This shyke is bananas and I will have no part in it, the moulding internally berates. No. Just no. Let the fishes have her.
But the little girl is moving closer at a disquieting pace. She appears, disappears, and comes back in a way that pulls at Uleru's consciousness. The moulding decides that this creature is either a hallucination, or she has seen it before.
And just as she decides its not real, its suddenly right in front of her, holding out its hand as if to touch her. The water immediately drops in temperature, and the hand, she notices, looks faded and substantially less than it should be. It takes her a precious moment to put two-and-two together to form one all encompassing word.
"Ghost!" she spits in Char. For although she feels better knowing that the girl is, indeed, real and she is not going mad, this is dampened by the fact that she is a ghost. And though she can count all the ghosts she has met on one hand, and has not met another ghost in a few decades, that doesn't pale her opinion of them. For every ghost she has met was either angry, insane, or a volatile mixture of both.
And with that thought she turns on her heel and swims away. She curses the fact that she glows as she makes for the coast, not even bothering to see if the ghost is following. She hits the surface with a spray of froth and hides under the overhanging dock, her body shimmering from a surprised yellow to the darkest black she can manage. Though her body still glows through the water like a beacon.

OOCHahaha! No problem, Uleru. We're here to have fun, not work
As she was about the touch the bright spots in front of her, suddenly the 'spot' spoke something in another language that Kouri didn't recognize. !? U-u-uhm?! Kouri quickly retracted her hand in instinct, then the speaking 'spot' swam away, it was at this moment Kouri spotted the vaguely female-shaped water that was the 'spot' itself. Huh?! S-so... it's one of those uhm... water people? Kouri thought for a brief moment before realizing that if she let this one go, she would never get the chance satiate her curiosity about the bright yellow 'spot'.
"W-waaaaaaaaaaaaaaiiiiitttt!!!" Kouri shouted after the 'spot' as she quickly did blinking-bursts, following it, "H-hey! Wait wait! I just wanna talk!" Kouri shouted, hoping it would listen and stop, she didn't mean any harm. Using the spot's bright glow as guidance, Kouri exerted herself and kept blinking. Haaa... huff... this is tiring... She couldn't keep doing this, less she would return to Soulmist form out of exhaustion and must rest for hours.
Then she noticed she was heading to the coast, the bright yellow spot making for the surface. "Oh hey.... haff... hey... w-wait!" Kouri managed to voice a few shouts between her gasp. She kept following the spot as it broke the surface, Kouri blinked to above the surface herself and found herself beneath the dock. "W-where? Huff... where are you?... I just... want to talk... haaa... Kouri sat herself in the middle of the water below the dock, near a curious black-colored water spot, but she didn't realize it. Hau... I found something...someone interesting but where is... she? it's a she right? Kouri made a disappointed expression as she hugged her knees. |

Uleru holds absolutly still, folding her body as much as this rather leggy human form with allow as she bobs just under the water. The ghost is staring at her. Or rather staring through her. She is so close that Uleru could stick out a hand and have it midway through her torso.
And from up this close, holding relatively still, the Otani cant help but look her over from ethereal long hair to little high-heel shoes. She'd have been such a small child when she died, or why would she look like this now? She would have been a cute child. A cute human child, she would guess. How did she die? Judging by the stains on her dress it wouldn't have been a very easy death.
Uleru bubbles silently under the waves, battling with her inherent hatred of ghosts and a burning curiosity about this tortured little girl in the red dress. She could pull herself into a little drop of water and probably get away un-harassed, and avoid the disturbing possibility of being possessed. But really, what could they do to each other? They are both varying degrees of insubstantial. Sure, she could possess her, make her crawl to the land and suffocate, but she's just a little girl! Little girls don't do that sort of thing... right?
Making a snap decision, the Otani pokes her head out of the water only as far as her eyes.
"Can I help you, sweetheart?" she inquires in common, grinning nervously. |

"Haaah..." Kouri exhaled an unneeded breath. What or who was that? It was some kind of... water, but it could talk... She crossed her right arm to her chest and put her left hand to her chin in a thinking position.
As she contemplated in silence suddenly "AAAAH?!" A sudden female voice spooked the ghost, kinda ironic, and her Soulmist tendrils swayed wildly in panic. "W-w-w-who who's there?!" Kouri looked all around her as she quickly turned herself upside down and 'stood' on the pier's under-ceiling, now her position was like a typical sleeping bat.
Scanning the area around her, she finally spotted a familiar glowing spot on the water below her. "Huh? A-are you..." Kouri slowly realized that the voice was most likely belonging to the 'spot', the same 'spot' she had been chasing. "O-oh..." Kouri's expression and Soulmist relaxed. "U-uhm... H-hi~" She sheepishly smiled and let out an awkward greeting. Both the ghost and the Otani's position was inverted with each other. The Otani facing upwards while the ghost was upside down facing downwards.
"W-well... u-uuuh... I was just wondering... water can talk? O-or... uuh... I... I have no idea what you are... are you a Charoda? But... you don't look like a Charoda..." Kouri had never seen an Otani before, she had only met Charodas in her travel with her family. |

"AAAAH?!"
The Otani's simple question is met with a scream and wildly swinging soulmist. Which startles the moulding so much that she ducks back into the water with a stream of soundless bubbles. But it is rather mildly encouraging that the ghost is just as scared of her and she is of the ghost.
She pulls herself above water when she is sure a ghostly temper tantrum isn't on the menu, and is given a strange sense of vertigo when she is met with the tiny girl is standing on the ceiling like a horrible, cute, and bloodstained bat. She stammers out a greeting, which Uleru doesn't reciprocate, and rambles disjointedly about Charodas.
"Ah, what?" the Otani says in a perfection of eloquence. But then the ghosts words permeate her head and she understands that she has just been (unintentionally) insulted.
"What?! I'm not a Charoda! I'm an Otani. A daughter of Laviku. A moulding of the highest order and not Charoda." she hrumphs, arms crossed over her chest.
Not that she doesn't like Charoda. They are good people, and she even knows some of the basics to their language since she was is Charbosi. But to be mistaken as anything but Laviku's most trusted servant is eye-twitchingly annoying. But it would only be if the ghost girl compared her to a monster on the same level as a Yukman or a Wailer that she would be truly offended.
"And you are a ghost", she continues helpfully. "Are you insane? You wont try to kill me, will you? Because if you do I will kick you're ethereal ass."
No, she won't. Or, more pointedly, she can't. But it seems necessary to say. |

OOCActually, Uleru could kick Kouri's ethereal butt with her water reimancy. Only conjured magical water could affect her though, manipulating natural water would just phase through Kouri like she phased physical objects.
"Un..." Kouri fidgeted with her hair ribbons, nervous. This is her first experience conversing with a being like... her. "Uhm..." Kouri pulled one of her hair ribbons and played with it. Actually, it's her own Soulmist, Kouri just shaped that particular part as the ribbons she used to wear when she was alive.
Then the woman looked annoyed when Kouri mentioned that she was a Charoda. Oh! You're not? I see... The liquid woman then explained that she's an Otani. Daughter of the god Laviku. "Oh! Ehehe~ You're a daughter of a god? C-can I uhm... meet your Papa?" Kouri was of course excited at the prospect of meeting a god. If it was really possible, she would have to be at a good relationship with the Otani and by the looks of it, she was not making good progress.
Even though she was inverted, Kouri's very long hair defied gravity and kept flowing down her back much like a person standing upright; it slowly swayed as if it was blown by a non-existent breeze. Kouri then flinched when the Otani mentioned about her race. "Well... uuh... I don't like to be reminded of that..." She whispered, her voice low in a dilemma whether she should voice her opinion or not.
I'm not insane... Kouri looked disapprovingly. Unknowingly to her, Kouri was indeed in the early stages of insanity. "....." She just stared at the watery woman when she asked her if she would want to kill her. "That's...." She stopped when the Otani threatened her. "No, I don't want to kill you... don't give me a reason to..." With all her threats, the thought that this Otani wanted to be her enemy visited her mind. |

"You're a daughter of a god? C-can I uhm... meet your Papa?"
The question is so confounding, and so strangely adorable, that the mouldings lips thin out in an attempt to hold back the torrent of insane giggling pushing at her chest.
"Ah, Laviku? I havent seen him in a very, very long time darling. But he knows you, because I know you. He sees what I see and hears what I hear", she explains in her rather roundabout way. "You'll have to impress him to meet him."
And when the ghost explains that she, indeed, doesn't want to pull her ashore and suffocate her, Uleru feels an intense rush of relief. Not that she is completely taking the creatures word for it, but there is a sincerity in her confusion that would be hard to duplicate.
"Good, good. But why were you chasing m-" she stops in her accusation and thinks it over for a second. There are very few humanoids in the world that can survive underwater like she can. And there are certainly few -if any- in Syliras. Here she has an opportunity for play she rarely has. Whats more, the human who can is a child.
"Chase me", she goads with a rather shocking change of tone, from demanding to playful in the course of a second. She takes a few backstrokes under the hanging girl, smiling like a shark and eyes jewel bright. "Chase me! There is a prize for you if you catch me", she teases, her legs melding together to form a strong tail, which she waves impishly. Then with a high laugh and a flash of her glistening back she disappears under the waves. |
