Stretching northward along the coastline of the Suvan Sea, the Cobalt Mountains are the home of the Bronze Wood, numerous ruins, and creatures both strange and fantastical.

“She was a ghost, Physical objects won’t harm her” Ignatius thought aloud. When the dust lifted, Ignatius saw the once playful Kouri turned in to a livid soul. Her pupils became thin and her hair danced without any wind. She spoke to Ignatius with her haunting voice, but it was different from last time. Her voice echoes throughout the forest, causing birds to flee from the resting place. Ignatius could now see the shroud that made up Kouri, it swirled ominously around her as she spoke these words “What… did… I… ever… do… to…. you….?” She suddenly sank into the ground and her dagger tilted towards Ignatius and lunched itself. “Iggi!” Laeva screamed.
Ignatius knew that there were still some gas Res in the air, but it wasn’t enough to create a wall to stop the weapon. However, he raised his hands to cross over each other and transmuted the remaining Res in the air to form a cloud of stone and pebbles. Through Ignatius’s basic understanding of earth reimancy, he knew that the cloud of earth would not stop the moving weapon, but instead it would slow it down allowing himself enough time to move away. The dagger passed through the cloud and Ignatius reacted by moving himself diagonally backward. He generated a hand fully of Res and moved his earthly cloud near himself. He raised one hand towards the cloud and caused it to revolve around itself, preparing it to slow or deflect another attack.
“Iggi!” Laeva called again. “Hide, Laeva!” Ignatius commanded, keeping an eye out for Kouri. Laeva retreated behind a tree, pulling her hat over her eyes as he sat down. She would still hear the haunting voice of Kouri in the woods as she battled against her big brother. However, something was odd. In the air she could smell something. The smell was terrible and one could only describe it as “dogs’ breath”.
“Come out, Kouri” Ignatius said in a stern voice, waiting for her to show up. “You don’t have to hide” he added. As Ignatius waited for Kouri’s next move, he decided to weave a shield around his body. However, it takes time to do so with his experience. He tries to weave the Djed into a fabic around himself, so that he could protect himself from any surprises. The shield Ignatius will make won’t be a very strong, but it’s better than no protection at all. He hoped that he had enough time for the shield to be completely woven. In the meantime, he needed to by some time and try to persuade the ghost to stop.
“We don’t need to do this!” Ignaiuts called out. Needless to say, Ignatius has no proper plan. This was the first time he confronted a paranormal being, and with so little information about her he wasn’t able to find anything that he could relate with her – so he could settle her down. |

"Ehehehe...." The giggling voice, thick with malice and insanity, still echoing in the woods that night. Kouri's roaring rampage was fueled by her fear and rage combined. In her mind, Ignatius was an evil person, just like the tiger who killed her family. "I wonder... big brother..." Her voice echoing through the trees "I thought you were a good person... I was wrong..." The dagger launched itself for another strike, but it missed as Kouri was underground and could not use her sight, she could only estimate Ignatius' location based on his footsteps and voice.
Then he spoke, he told her to come out, How dare you command me after you tried to kill me? Hahahaha... so funny! Kouri flashed a malicious grin "Aha.. AHAHAHAHAHA!!! Well then..." As she said her final words, her voice was noticeably lower in pitch, similar to a growl. The dagger was ready for another strike when...
"I'll come out"
Kouri suddenly rose up from the ground directly in front of Iggi, materialized herself, and hugged him tight. She was playing with Iggi's mind, determining to make him go shocked at her sudden revelation and chilling ghostly touch, this give her the time to... "Big bro..." Kouri slowly put her right hand to his left cheek, a light smile on her face though her eyes were the shape of a serpent.
"Bleed..."
The steel dagger, located to the left of Ignatius' side, suddenly launched itself to his left shin bone. |

Ignatius listened to the girl’s haunting giggles, as he wove his Djed around himself forming a very thin shield. However, the shield was incomplete and needed more time is it was going to be of any practical use, he needed more time. Ignatius scanned the area, looking for something out of place. That’s when he saw the dagger lifting itself off the ground and tilted towards him. Ignatius reacted by moving his cloud of earth in front of the dagger to slow it down once again. However, a surprise was waiting for Ignatius…
“I’ll come out!” bellowed from below Ignatius. Kouri rose up, grappling onto Ignatius. “Wha-?” Ignatius gasped. Although Kouri was a ghost, she was able to physically interact with the physical world. This took Ignatius by surprise, but soon after he was met with another. Kouri looked into Ignatius eyes, she smile was sweet but her eyes were fierce. She raised her arm and gentle caressed his face. As her hand stroked his cheek, a numbing and uncomfortable feeling was felt. The feeling quickly changed from numb to piercing, as she held her hand on his cheek. His breath became ragged. He needed to get out. Kouri pulled her head towards his right ear. Her breath was as cold as her touch. With a smile on her face, Kouri whispered close to his ear “… bleed…” Suddenly, the dagger shot and passed through his cloud which caused it to slow down slightly. Ignatius’s eyes moved to see the dagger, but it was too late. The dagger slashed his leg, if it wasn’t for the revolving cloud of earth knocking the dagger slightly off course, the dagger would have hit his leg dead centre. Ignatius let out a groan of pain.
Laeva had her eyes closed. She could hear the battle. She could hear the pain her brother just suffered. She was scared. She felt useless… She wanted to help, but she didn’t know how fight or use magic. She clenched her hands and teeth as she hears her brother in pain. Tears slowly pooled in her eyes. “I don’t want to be alone…” she whimpers in sadness and fear. The odd odour draws grows stronger and stronger, and slight growling could be heard.
“Argh!” Ignatius grunted in pain as Kouri held his cheek. Ignatius needed to break free. He didn’t want to harm Kouri, but he didn’t want to leave Laeva alone either. With that in mind, he began to think. He stared it to Kouri’s eyes, matching her fierce gaze with his determination. He focused, trying to resist the numbing paining. He focuses a small point on his belly to generate a pool of Res. He planned to manipulate the Res to shoot out from his body in a thin stream, transmuting it into water as it left his body. This should create a high pressure stream that will either push Kouri away, or pierce her body. “Please forgive me!” he said, gritting his teeth. He began to fire a stream of water from his body. Since the water was transmuted from Res, it was able to interact with Kouri’s ghostly body, pushing her way.
Ignatius broke free from her grasp, and he quickly touched his face. “No visible damage?” he thought aloud. He quick quickly shifted his stance to be more defensive. He scanned around for the dagger to make sure she wouldn’t attack him with it. After spotting it, he moves his gaze onto Kouri. Once again as he generated a small about of Res in his hands. “Surprised? I can control water as well as earth.” He said in an upbeat tone. After he spoke his tone quickly dropped and he once again looked Kouri dead in the eyes. “Listen to me. I don’t want to fight you.” He stated with the look of determination in his eyes. |

*Slash*! The gory sound of cold hard metal scraping against flesh can be heard as Ignatius grunted in pain, his left leg narrowly slashed by Kouri's dagger; its intended purpose of stabbing it failed as the dagger's path was diverted by Ignatius' earth magic.
"Ehehehe..." Kouri continued her chilly whisper to Ignatius' right ear "Don't worry... it will be over soo- GAH!" She was abruptly cut short as the pain of being punched in the gut washed over her, Kouri then was thrown away from Iggi's body by a magical stream of water; she lost her grip on her dagger and it dropped to the ground . Kuh... Kouri quickly blinked away, reforming herself at a few feet from Ignatius and near her dagger.
Ignatius then explained that he has mastery over water as well, Kouri just scoffed and said in a mocking tone "Ahahaha~ Not surprising, I know a powerful mage who can control fire and wind, ehehe..." She was talking about Cyrus Blackfire, her master. Under normal circumstances, Kouri would be awed and fascinated by Iggi's ability to control two elements, but currently she viewed Ignatius as an enemy.
Ignatius then told her that he didn't want to fight her. Kouri tilted her head as she stared viciously into his eyes, crimson red facing off with dark blue. "Then why did you try to kill me? I already died once... isn't that enough... big bro?" Kouri said, her tone half-amused half-angry. But then, a wicked expression appeared on her face.
"Fine then... we'll stop... BUT!.. ehehe..." Kouri quickly shot a glance at the tree Laeva was hiding before turning her gaze back at Iggi. "I want a proof... proof that you really mean it..." Kouri offered as she dropped her dagger to the ground next to her floating feet. "Since you looked like you tried to kill me, I want to do that as well... hehe..." Kouri turned her body 90 degrees clockwise, her side facing Iggi while her head still fixed on him. "Tell your sister to come to me... and then I'll just put my dagger to her neck.. and that's it, I won't do anything... you let me do that... then I'll stop, I promise..." |

“Your sister or your own life? Two choices with the same outcome, one sibling will be left alone.” A voice whispered in Ignatius head.
Ignatius shook his head as his he removed something that was latched onto his head. Ignatius looked into Kouri’s eyes. He and one of two choices, Live life without his sister, or die trying to keep her alive. He bit his lip and lowered his guard. As he stared into the eyes of Kouri, he remembers a promise he made long ago, a promise to his sister. He told her that he’d always protect her and would never leave her side. However, it could be possible that today, this promise will be broken.
Laeva wasn’t able to hear Kouri’s voice, because he covered her ears to prevent herself from hearing her brother’s pain. However, she soon removed them when the smell of “dog’s breath” became unbearable, and when the growling got louder. Laeva looked in front of herself in the distant bushes. The sound of growling grew and the bush began to rustle. Suddenly something jumped out.
“Kouri… Can I ask you this? Do you know what it feels like to be alone, and rejected by your parents? Do you know what it feels like to lose the only person who cared for you? Well… She’ll lose the one person who cared for her, because I’m not letting you kill her!” Ignatius raised his arms and began to transmute small bullets of water and earth and was about to fire them at Kouri, until… “ARRRHHH!” Laeva screamed. Ignatius turned his head to look at was happening. He saw Laeva running, and soon after saw a wolf chasing her. The wolf was brown with blood trickling down his head. Laeva had thrown a rock to deter as she made her escape.
Ignatius panicked at the situation Laeva was in. He wanted to save her, but he was too far from the wolf to get an accurate shot. However, it was his only option. Ignatius shifting his attack to the wolf, and swept his arm through the air, launching a barrage of earth and water bullets. However, like he feared, the shots were too inaccurate and missed the wolf entirely. He was now desperate. He looked all over the area for an answer, and there his eyes fell upon Kouri.
“I don’t normally trust anyone to my sister, but please… Save her.” he pleaded. Ignatius knew that Kouri could teleport. If she teleported to the wolf, she could either kill it or deter it. However, he was placing trust on a person who wants her dead. All he can do is hope. “I’d trade my life for hers…” he added. |

Kouri's ethereal white hair swayed as if it was blown by an ethereal breeze as she waited for Ignatius' answer. "Don't you trust me? Ehehe~ I promise I won't do anything, I just want to touch her neck with my knife, I won't kill her... consider that I'm generous since you tried to kill me..." She provoked him, if he wouldn't comply; she would just have to kill him, his injured leg will make him an easy prey for her flying weapon.
Then Ignatius spoke “Kouri… Can I ask you this? Do you know what it feels like to be alone, and rejected by your parents? Do you know what it feels like to lose the only person who cared for you? Well… She’ll lose the one person who cared for her, because I’m not letting you kill her!”
Huh?! Kouri's hair swayed up as her eyes flashed in extreme anger, it's clear that Ignatius misunderstood her words. "WHAT?!!! HOW DARE YOU ASK ME SUCH QUESTIONS WHEN YOU YOURSELF TRIED TO KILL ME?!!" Her dagger flew all around Ignatius like a wolf stalking its prey.
"You petching bastard... I began to think that your sister doesn't deserve a brother like you... you talk like as if I'm going to actually kill her! No... NO I DON'T! Don't you petching get it?! I just want proof... proof that I can trust you! I just want your sister to come here... and I will brush her neck with my dagger... I WON'T ACTUALLY KILL HER!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!" The misunderstanding brought the situation from bad to worse as Kouri grinned maniacally, now her fear had all been replaced by anger.
"Fine then! Come, 'big bro', I'll teach you the pain of dying!! I'll let your sister suffer more just like I do... with mama... and papa... hahahaha... hahaHAHAHA!!" Kouri was prepared to deliver a fatal blow with her dagger when she suddenly heard a high-pitched scream, obviously from a female. !? Kouri's angered face turned to the scream's direction, that's when she saw Laeva being chased by a wolf. "..............." Kouri turned back to Iggi, the annoying girl's life was low on her priority list.
Heh... haha! Die! Kouri grinned as Ignatius was obviously busy trying to save his sister. Her dagger launched itself and about to stab his neck when...
“I don’t normally trust anyone to my sister, but please… Save her.”
"What....?" Kouri made a 'are you petching kidding me?' expression at that statement. Did this bastard who tried to kill her just asked her to save his sister? But Ignatius' next statement made her consider her options.
“I’d trade my life for hers…”
Oh... so he does really love his sister after all... hmph... Very well, I will ask him more... perhaps he really didn't mean me any harm... so that's why his magic didn't affect me... Kouri turned to Ignatius, she didn't give him any confirmation, she just stared deeply into his dark blue eyes with her own crimson red.
Then suddenly she threw her dagger in the direction of the wolf, as the dagger flew, she blinked to between Laeva and the wolf. "Hello, dog..." Kouri grinned viciously at the wolf, the wolf was visibly shocked at the apparition before it but it reacted wildly, growled at Kouri and launched itself at her. Kouri's dagger landed at a few feet near their location.
"Foolish..." Kouri mocked the wolf as she unmaterialized and the wolf just phased through her as if she was air, it landed roughly on the ground soon after. "GRRR- ACK!" The wolf's growl was abruptly cut short as a piece of cold hard steel pierced its rear end. One can see a steel dagger grabbed by tendril-shaped black mist was the one responsible.
"Hahaha... HAHAHA!! CRY MORE!!" Kouri giggled as she drove the dagger more and more to the wolf, its cry of anguish became louder as the dagger ravaged its stomach, heart, lungs, and *GASH!* the dagger came out from the wolf's mouth, covered in thick fresh blood.
"...." Kouri slowly floated to Laeva, bringing the dagger close to her face "I just saved your life, girl..." then she tilted her head back to Ignatius. "Your brother said he'll trade his life for yours.... now then, a promise is a promise right?" |

OOCresponse needed before i can continue my part of the story, sorry if it's short or incomplete.
Laeva ran as fast as she could, but she could out run the wolf for very much longer. If it wasn’t for the rock she threw, she’d be done for. Her breath became rapid and shallow. Her lungs began to cramp. As the wolf chased her, her legs slowly gave out. “Brother… Save me…” she thought to herself, closing her eyes before giving exerting all of her energy. She fell to the ground and her eye patch came undone as she tried to move. She turned to face her demise. Suddenly, Kouri flashing in, and her dagger landed nearby. She grinned at the wolf that abruptly stopped before her. “hello Dog…”
Laeva watched as Kouri fought the wolf. However, she wasn’t watching the battle, she was focused on Kouri. She soulmist was made an aura that surrounded her body, like faint smoke surrounding a fog. With her two eyes she could see something, something that had no form, an emotion buried deep within Kouri… “Loneliness…” was the word that escaped Laeva’s lips. After Kouri had brutally butchered the wolf, she loomed towards her, holding the knife in her hands. Laeva couldn’t stop looking at Kouri’s faint aura, she couldn’t break her sight. Kouri soon place the blood soaked knife along Laeva’s face. That’s when she spoke these words “your brother said he’d trade his life for yours… a promise is a promise, Right?”
“Loneliness… you’re lonely, aren’t you…? That that why you chased after my brother…?” Laeva said, ignoring Kouri’s question. Kouri’s word didn’t reach Laeva due to her absent mind. Ever since she was rejected by her parents she too has felt lonely, the loneliness cause Laeva to be this way. However, Ignatius was the only person who’d show care for her, and would help her to strive through world. “You miss your family, Kouri…? I heard my brother say that you were a ghost…” Laeva said looking vaguely into Kouri’s eyes. Laeva was about to speak again, but when limp. She had exerted all of her strength and has fainted from using her talent.
Ignatius rushed over to see what had happen. At first, he saw Laeva looking lifeless and Kouri holding a blood soaked knife to her face. Angry boiled within him, “I was wrong to trust anyone with her…” he screamed in his head. “What did you do!?” he yelled at Kouri. The anger built inside of him, it was almost unbearable. However, when Ignatius’s eyes fell upon Laeva’s face, he knew what had happened. He closed his eyes and huffed out a sigh. He walked around the two and found an eye patch, it belonged to Laeva. Ignatius gestured to Kouri he was peaceful and kneeled down to Laeva, tied the eye patch on. |

OOCOh, it's no problem, Iggi! Long or short, as long as it holds meaning and weight, it's good.
Kouri kept staring into Laeva's eyes, waiting for her answer; but the words Laeva spoke was completely unexpected to Kouri. She told Kouri that she sought out Ignatius because she was lonely. ".............." Kouri frowned, her grin disappeared from her face. Then Laeva asked her if she missed her family, "......." Kouri just kept silent as Laeva went limp. Fainted because of fear? Kouri thought as she stood up and turned around, her back facing Laeva. Kouri's eyes slowly relaxed itself, turning into round-shaped pupils much like a normal human.
Kouri stabbed her dagger to a tree to store it when she heard Ignatius screaming, asking her what she was doing. Kouri's eyes immediately slit up again in anger as she pulled out her dagger and faced Ignatius "WHAT DID I DO?!! I SAVED YOUR SISTER'S LIFE, PETCHING SHYKE!" Kouri didn't believe it, this ungrateful bastard first tried to kill her then asked her to save his annoying sister, then when she had done so, he didn't even say thank you and instead yelled at her.
Kouri ignored Ignatius' gesture and as Ignatius were kneeling down to place Laeva's eye patch, Kouri immediately blinked to his back, materialized herself, and hugged him from behind. "Not... even a thank you?... I was thinking of breaking the deal and spare you both... but you..." The dagger slowly loomed over Ignatius' front neck, ready to tear his jugular apart should he make even a single threatening move. "you just have to do it, don't you, big bro?... now then, give me good reasons why I shouldn't just kill you, right here... right now..."
There were so many misunderstanding at the Bronze Woods that night, one couldn't help but wonder, if Ignatius just explained to Kouri beforehand before testing his spell on her or Kouri noticing that the spell didn't hurt her, all this mess wouldn't have happened. |
