90th, Spring 513AV
Having gained entrance to the market Kitchi wondered around, scanning the rows of stalls. In the corner of her eye she could see the brightly colored fabric stall but she knew to keep away from it. She had no use for fabrics at the moment and attending the store would only lure her into buying. Many people were crowded into the market, the busy of life filling every crevice and nook. What was she buying? She had no idea, the lure of the market seemed to overwhelm her senses and she soon found herself in the crowd. She felt naked without her bow and quiver, having decided to leave them at home for ease of movement, the bulky bows tended to simply get in the way in the busy crowds and pushing. Blue eyes continued to scan the stalls, soaking in the colors and items. Finally her eyes fell on the stall of papers and books. A faint smile starting to work its way over her lips as an idea formed. She crept towards it, moving swiftly through the crowds. She knew what she wanted to buy. The kindly old man spotted her heading towards him and turned a smile towards her. He knew she could not resist the lure of books and a sale was almost certain. The Written Word was by far her favourite stall.
“How can I help you today?” He smiled as she drew up to the pile of books. Her blue orbs flickered only momentarily towards the piles of books before drawing back to the old man.
“I would like a blank book please. Do you by any chance sell quills and vials of ink as well?” She watched his ink stained fingers reach towards one of the blank books, before passing it over for her to inspect. She ran her fingers over it, checking the pages were clean as the old man rustled something before the desk.
“How many would you like?” Kitchi barely heard the words, focused on her inspection.
“Erm... two ink vials and one quill, please” She finally looked up, a warm smile as the old man nodded and produced the required items. Two ink vials and one feathered quills were passed towards her and she lifted them up with a smile. Perfect. “How much?” She placed the items carefully on the stall before starting to fumble with her money.
“For you, my dear, 9 pinions will do” He reached his hand out towards her slowly. Kitchi nodded, counting out the glass coins quickly and transferring the money into his fingers. “Enjoy” He called after her as she gathered up the items and disappeared back into the crowd. She clutched the book careful, placing the smaller items safety away. Immediately she started to push her way back towards the entrance, not wanting to be seen with her new possessions. Her mind flickered through her house, was they somewhere she could hide it? Did she even have to hide it? She shrugged, she would work it out when she got there.
