An inland sea created by Ivak's cataclismic fury during the Valterrian, the Suvan Sea is a major trade route and the foremost hub for piracy in Mizahar. [lore]

Where Weapons are Water

By now, the war party gathering at the edge of the Flotilla had become a simple fact of life, as sure and common as the trading that happened everywhere else. They had been gathering since the Ansayia, preparing for the time they could hunt down the blasphemer Braten, but that time was not now as they were still waiting for word on his location. The time was being put to use in training and sparring, and now the the sounds of steel on steel were a persistent part of life on the Flotilla. Blows were traded as much as currency and trinkets now, though a visitors still preferred the many boat vendors to the training decks of the war party.

Which was good, for the Svefra at the gathering weren’t accepting outsiders in their midst. To those that came looking to train, they made it very clear that this was a war party for killing Braten, not a training center or facility for general use. Only Svefra were permitted to come and go as they pleased, though they were encouraged to stay and join the fight against what they saw as the greatest villain in the North Suvan. The insistency and denial of land-dwellers didn’t cause as much friction as might have been assumed however, probably in large part to the sheer diversity of what was offered at the Flotilla. Still, the presence of the war party could hardly go unnoticed when their shouts and cries were heard for a good distance, carried by the water itself.

All sorts of skills were being honed, combat of all styles and weapons. Palivar decks had been assigned for sparring and training, and in some places two adjacent ships would serve as a makeshift firing range. Most ships that were reserved for resting from the exertion were casinors, which was the logical choice as their decks weren’t large enough to host great numbers of people. However, far more fascinating was what was being practised at the exterior of the war party, the edge of the edge. While the weapons of most were made of steel and wood, the weapons practiced here were the sea and wind itself.

It was little more than a handful of casinors arranged along the edge of the gathering, but that made their training no less important. In fact, it was easier to see the effects they were having with the open ocean, which provided a great source of water. Everything from slithers of water to great liquid orbs were being called forth from the sea, sent flying out into space where they wouldn’t risk getting in the way of the more conventional training. Gusts of wind were also forced out, rippling the surface of the water and creating a miniature wave of their own. The use of magic among such superstitious people was surprisingly common, but even so it would be best to practice such uncommon practices away from unfamiliar eyes.
Will be gone for a couple days, grades need lifting
