==================================================== "Kouri, honey" A Vantha woman with very long flowing black hair, reaching to her knees, and sapphire blue eyes was gently carrying a little Vantha girl. The woman's features suggested she was aged at her late twenties.
"Yes, Mama~?" answered the girl, the girl being carried was very similar to the woman carrying her, it looked like she was the child version of the older woman. She looked like she was aged about five years old. The child's blue eyes shifted to a yellow color, indicating she was excited.
"Do you know what's the most important principle in life?" The woman inquired to her daughter.
"Uhm...... uhm.... worshipping Queen Morwen?" The girl sheepishly smiled as she was unsure of her answer.
"Hmmm, almost, but not quite, honey. The most important principle in life is to be a good person, honey. That means doing what's right, no matter how dire the situation may seemed or how enticing the reward for taking the wrong choice is... you must never waver from your beliefs. Know that evil always loses in the end." The woman said, giving a lengthy explanation that was seemingly too much for the little girl's young mind.
"H-huh? I... don't really understand..." The little girl looked at her mother in confusion.
"It's okay if you don't understand yet, honey... when you grow up, you soon will" The mother smiled warmly at her beloved only daughter.
"U-uhm... okay~! When I grow up! You will ask me again, right? And I will give you the correct answer! Ehehehe~" The girl grinned at her mother, yellow eyes gazing in excitement.
"Of course, Dear~ I and your father will always be with you..."
"always be with you..."
"be with you..."
After saying that, the woman's body slowly started to fade away it's if she was an illusion. The little girl quickly panicked at this bizarre phenomenon.
"M-mama! W-where are you going?! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-" The little girl's scream was cut short as....
====================================================
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! YOU LIED!!! YOU LIED TO ME!! YOU LIE LIE LIE LIE LIEEEEEEE- HA?!!!" Kouri's ethereal crimson eyes shot up and she quickly sat up. Huh? W-what happened? A... a dream? She looked around in utter confusion. W-where... am I? Ah... this is the Bronze Woods... Kouri found herself sitting in a shelter of some sort.
Uuuuh... Kouri grabbed her head, she felt dizzy and disoriented. W-what happened? She tried to recall the events that has transpired just now. I... I... I ran away from that scary hooded man... t-then, he followed me to my tree... and then... I threatened him to leave... and then... then... She grasped her head with both of her hands as waves of headache assaulted her I... I can't remember what's next! What happened to me?!
I have to return to my tree... Deciding to ponder about her short-term memory loss later, Kouri slowly stood up and floated out of the rock-shelter. "Ugh..." She groaned in pain and looked at her own body. This feeling, it's if I was in a fight or something... Even with Castor's soulmist, Kouri was not fully recovered yet and she felt a tinge of pain occasionally coursing through her. I better rest.. Kouri decided that her top priority right now was getting home, she would figure all of these out later. She looked around and recognizing the direction to her favorite tree, Kouri started floating to it. It was easy to find her way in the woods as a ghost as she could just phase through every tree and vegetation.
"H-hey... that looks like...?" Kouri spotted a familiar metallic glint at her left and she quickly floated to it, blinking twice to arrive faster. At the glint's location, Kouri found a steel dagger, she picked it up with her tendrils and examined it. "H-hey... this looked like my dagger or... is it mine?" She looked around and spotted more glints near her. All in all, she could spot three more glints. When she examined them all, she found out that they were all daggers, three daggers looked identical while one was different.
"W-what? What is this? T-they are all..." Kouri stuttered in confusion as she examined what looked like three steel daggers and one cold iron dagger as far as she could identify. "...they're all my daggers... w-why are my daggers here??? ...............I... I better get home..." Kouri picked up her daggers in one tendril grab and started to float away.
After five chimes of floating, Kouri stopped as she heard a... "Howling? Snarls? Wolves..." She concluded but... "Shykes!" She heard a curse, obviously not coming from a wolf as well. H-ha?! S-someone is being hunted?! The memories of Kise's fight against the wolves resurfaced in her mind. I-I have to help!! Kouri quickly darted to the direction of the howls, snarls, and curses.
"........Oh no..." Once there, she saw a man was being held down by a large wolf, with four more wolves behind it. The large one was most likely the alpha. "G-GET AWAY FROM HIM!!!" Kouri screamed at the beasts. The alpha was startled at the sound and quickly shot a look at Kouri, he snarled dangerously at the intruder. It didn't last long though as *STAB*! the gory sound of cold iron piercing through tissue can be heard. The alpha wolf dropped dead, a cold iron dagger in place of where its right eye should have been. With their leader dead, the rest of the wolves scrambled away in fear.
"Huff... huff..." Kouri sighed in relief, had she not been there; the person would most likely be devoured. "A-are you alright?" Kouri said as she floated closer to check up on him as... "A-AH?!!!" Kouri landed on her butt as she fell down backwards. That hood... that silver hair, that... chain! It was the hooded man! "I... I..." Kouri was at a loss for words. She had just saved the man who, in her mind, tried to catch her. |
