Gender: Male
Age: 23
Birthday: 12, Winter, 489 AV.
Birthplace: Ravok
Appearance: Sarith is average in terms of height and weight, at about 5'9" and weighing about 135 lbs. His body looks completely unsuited for the demands of physical strain, indeed everything about him screams academic. His short hair is a dusky brown color and his are a rich hazel color, wide and always ready to accept more knowledge. His face possesses a soft and natural kindness about it that makes him seem approachable to others, even when nose deep in a book. He will shave quite often as he dislikes the hassle of facial hair, however when engaged in long study sessions it is not unheard of to see a stubble darken his chin. His left eye is naturally weaker than his right so he wears a monocle to help his eyesight.
Character ConceptThe quest for knowledge is often cited by Sarith as the reason for his travels, the pursuit of learning all that he can. The drive can make him seem very passionate and it is quite common to see him discussing various subjects with fellow academics in an animated fashion. Reading and writing are his bread and butter, and when he meets someone who lacks the ability to do either something inside of him dies a little. He values intelligence, kindness, and education above all things.
Sarith is also on this quest for another reason, to further hone his knowledge in regards to magic, specifically Voiding. It is also the subject that he and his father disagree on a great deal, the former regarding it as an interesting field of study and the latter believing it to be the most powerful force in existence. The meetings he has with his father usually break down into arguments regarding the proper applications of magic, or his choice of wife.
The scholar is indeed married, to a reimancer instructor at the Zeltivan University known as Helena. Sarith is very loyal to his wife and wouldn't dream of betraying her trust, both out of conscious loyalty and a desire to keep his manhood attached to his body. She gave him her blessings to go on his quest, continuing her duties as an instructor and taking up the care of their young daughter.
It should be noted that it is rather difficult to anger Sarith over anything. Anger and hatred are foreign to him, however if someone did managed to anger him they would, in all likelihood, be making a very swift journey to the Void as it would take something particularly heinous to draw his rage.
Character HistoryPre-CreationSarith was born into magic, that is probably the simplest way to put it. He was the youngest of three siblings, possessing an older brother and an older sister. His upbringing was anything but normal and it is something he will rarely speak of to anyone, due to the nature of the abnormality. Both of his parents were accomplished wizards and both possessed the same draw to power that they tried to instill in their children. It was a lesson that Sarith often failed to learn, unlike his older siblings.
His father instructed him first on the basic concepts of projection, when he found that to be extremely difficult he handed Sarith over to his wife for training regarding the Void. This was something he proved extremely adept at, calling forth his first tiny portal by age twelve. When he came of age he followed in his brother and sister's wake and set about traveling, though for different reasons than they most likely.
Sarith had grown up with a thirst for knowledge that seemed unquenchable, reading through the notes of both of his parents and drinking in words from their various tomes. He was a much happier child with a book on his lap. The main purpose for his journey was to see new cultures and study them, as well as partake in any books he found along the way.
His journeys led him south through both Nyka and Syliras, eventually landing him near Zeltiva. During his travels he had met many individuals, however none were so important to him as Helena, a fellow wizard and a talented reimancer. He met her outside of Zeltiva when he saw her practicing her reimancy outside of the city. He was rather intrigued by her strength of will as well as her knowledge and as the months went by he eventually proposed to her. His father, who actively despised reimancers, was vehemently against the coupling but was forced to comply with his son's decision.
He spent three years at his wife's side, studying at the university for sometime as well to further sharpen his knowledge. These were happy years, during which he witnessed the birth of his daughter Mila. However his hunger for knowledge bade him to continue his journeys, so he left Zeltiva after receiving his wife's blessings and headed south west. He eventually ended up in Riverfall, where he hopes to further his knowledge on both the Akalak and his own magic.
