"Me... I'm here for relaxing. Taking a break from those women in town... I came to relax and I was bothered by an annoying little wolf."
"Relaxing..." She let the word roll over her tongue then snorted. It seemed like such a useless word to her. And taking a break from women? Geez, this guy was soo full of himself. She has to admit it though, he was one of the most handsome guys she'd ever seen. She had seen plenty of plain ordinary guys going up and down the Kabrin road and throughout Syirlas too, but Kise had taken the prize for best good looking. problem was, he seemed to think so too which discinergrated the thought of flattery. But oddly enough, she found his arrogance a cute. For as the saying went: a man who thinks himself to be important ends up being such. Maybe the same was for Kise, however difficult it was to hold conversation with him.
Looking on the bright side, at least the Kelvic hadn't bonded to some worthless depressed wimp. She wouldn't ever have to worry about playing nursemaid to Kise. But something still nagged at her, did taking a break from the people in the city mean he had enemies? She scanned to area around them, half expecting someone to jump on them out of the blue... There! That bush! A bird flew out from it and Akilia quickly looked away a blush coloring the girl's checks. She felt like such like an idiot. She felt even more so when she realized Kise was still talking. She barely caught the ends of one of his sentences...
"...I am Kisetukai. You may call me Kise..."
She nodded, at least she knew what to call him. Ever since he introduced himself with his mouthful of a first name, she tried practicing it butchering it so badly in her mind that she just thought to simply refer to him as Squire. Hearing his nickname was a welcome change, there was a smaller chance of her messing it up. "Kise..." She said repeating his name getting a feel for it. The name was easy enough, "Kise, Kise, Kise!" She said in a singsong tone, her voice turning shrill on the last word. She realized he wasn't ordering her to 'get lost' nor punching her in the gut. That too was a welcome change so far. She wondered how many other things she could push into her favor. A chill took her, spiking through her body swiftly leaving her teeth chattering. She hugged her naked self closer. She had noticed he probably saw her crouching there rolled up in a ball, too late. White fabric was the only thing in her line of sight for a second as the shirt Kise tossed to her, nailed her in the face. It didn't hurt of course, it was just clothing but it caught her off guard. She didn't have time to snatch it out of the air because of her arms wrapped about her. His chivalry impressed her, she had thought he was the heartless, arrogant type. Turned out she had judged too soon, she had a bad habit of that.
She removed the shirt from her face and looked at it. It was much too big for her small self but...she was cold. So she put it on without another thought. After shrugging it on, she looked around eyes narrowing when Kise was no where in sight. Then the tell tale sounds of zippers zipped, told her he was still around. Boxer shorts where the second item of clothing was tossed her way, and she grabbed it and put em on. They were surprisingly warm...and she avoided stopping to think why.
"Ok get suited up soldier... If your gonna follow me around you better not slow me down." He said jumping into a walk. She noticed his scythe strapped to his back and sighed with some relief. At least she didn't have to worry about that.
She snorted, "Don't worry about me, it'll be you trying to keep up." She walked after him at a brisk walk, closing his slight head start and walking two strides for his one.
"Akilia!"
"What?" She asked sourly. "No need to shout, I'm right here you dimwit."
"So... You gonna show me where you live so I can finally relax like I came to do?"
"And here I thought you already had...humpf, fine... I'll take you to my place. It's not far."
"Also Akilia... Tell me about yourself. Where are you relatives, why are you here alone. Tell me this as we walk and don't dawdle. Time is of the essence my dear."
"About me." She repeated, should she tell? Did she have to? Then again she didn't care much so she did. "I'm...what? Eight months old now? Probably. As for relatives, I don't have any. Its a touchy subject... Long story short, my mom's...gone. And I don't know who my dad is, I probably don't have any siblings. So I look after myself, working in the fields sometimes for cash and having the company of my companions." Spewing out that info had actually been easier than she thought. She gave him a sideways glance, "so what about you?"
She turned off the path they were taking and into the direction of a hidden path, the one she'd taken before when she winded up here. It wasn't a path really, low thick branches swung from above at times not a bother for her but mostly the path was clear, keeping an eye out for traps set by hunters wasn't much of a challenge. "This way's fastest" She said absently motioning Kise over with her hand. "Oh...and watch your head...and your step. Don't want to fall into any traps." |
