Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

Felavik followed the woman outside. He did not rush as she did but his long powerful stride did not keep him much further behind. When he stepped outside into the sun he was immediately aware of the large Strider. How had he not noticed the creature upon his entrance? He had been deep in thought but this deep?

The beast stomped it's legs and gave him a deep, threatening glare. Felavik had to fight his instincts not to glare back. Every inch of his body told him to show dominance. He was King of the Food Chain. All except Vikor who, ironically, was telling him to get the hell out of there lest the Strider charge him.

Felavik did however take a couple of steps away in the opposite direction as the woman asked. He was more than mere beast. That was the mark of a Cerulean. His face bore no such mark and his honour no such disgrace.

It was remarkable to watch her calm the beast. He was not often with those who kept animals but he could tell this was a deeper bond than master and pet. This was a merging of two souls. An Akalak in woman and horse. It was strange what could be found in this world. Strange indeed.

“May I approach now?” Felavik asked. The beast seemed calm but he did not wish to frighten it by approaching too soon.

Ryzan shifted his attention away from the Akalak to focus solely on his Rider. He whined happily, then nuzzled against her side, lipping at her hand. Zyah'suyakal sighed. "Yes, you may, yet walk with care, he is very protective, I don't need him attacking you for fear of my safety."

She then shifted her weight, shouldering Ryzan out of the way only to lean against his large warm body. She laid her head on his back, listening the steady rhythm of his heart and the deepness of his breath. She then matched her breath to his, calming herself as well as Ryzan. Even though the Strider appeared to be calm he was trembling, she could feel it being so close to him, she had felt this in him before.

He didn't like the fact that a man was around his beautiful Rider, he was jealous some would say, but Zyah'suyakal knew better, he was simply cautious and ready to fight if need be.

Felavik nodded noting with interest the affection she showed this creature. Like a mother and child, Felavik decided, so I wasn't far wrong after all. A strong child who would defend his mother most likely to the death at that, Vikor added.

Felavik approached slowly not wishing to spook the animal. He feared for both their safeties if the creature attacked. Simply put a fight with a horse would benefit no-one.

Zyah'suyakal sighed, then stepped away from Ryzan's side. The large Strider then moved forward, his head up, and large chocolate brown eyes watching the Akalak. Once Ryzan was standing right in front of the warrior, no more then a foot away he lowered his head, pressing it against the AKalak's shoulder, it was almost as if he was nuzzling the warrior.

But that was before he attempted to sink his teeth into the shoulder of the man, yet Ztah'suyakal was there at that moment, her hand pressed right underneath Ryzan's head, against the soft flesh of his throat. She pushed her finger's into the flesh, causing Ryzan to step back. She then rubbed his neck, soothing him.

"You need to be careful, he could have torn your shoulder to shreds, that is if you didn't loose too much blood...." Her voice was stern, as if scolding a child who should have known better.

Felavik smiled as the horse approached him. It would seem the horse wasn't as bad as he'd first thought. It even started to nuzzle him. Then suddenly he felt maybe teeth and the woman was leading her horse away from him. Felavik blinked. The whole situation had been over all too quickly. When she snapped he couldn't help but feel a little ashamed. He wouldn't have been able to do anything until the Strider had already mauled his shoulder. It was a crafty beast and he wouldn't underestimate it again.

“I hope he doesn't make a habit of that. There are some who would not take so kindly to almost being mauled.” Felavik warned fearing for the horse's safety if it tried that on a less stable Akalak. Felavik wasn't even sure if someone would be punished for killing a horse that had tried to attack him. “Not that I have any designs on him, milady. It is merely a friendly warning. This is no pavilion, milady, and many do not hold Striders in as high regard as you may be used to.”

"Aye, I know that, he has been very stubborn as of late, must be all the sea air going to his head....." She allowed a chuckle to fall past her lips, as she continued to stroke at his neck, Ryzan, as if hearing her comment, flicked his tail in irritation.

"As well, I am very well this is not the Grasslands, it is far safer, and as for they way people tend to treat horses, I can say in the very least, from what I have heard, and seen as a child, it very much disturbed me. Horses are just as intelligent as us, they fell, the love, and they mourn, sometimes they will understand you better then you understand yourself. That is a fact, and if anyone dared touch Ryzan, they would be in a world of hurt, it may seem naive, but Ryzan is a part of me, he is my eyes, my companion, and then only one to have the entirety of my heart....."

The Drykas' face lit up into a soft and serene smile, her voice carried a loving notion in it, one of admiration and indulgence for the beast that was her Strider.

Felavik chuckled too. Vikor didn't. He was still reeling from the recent attack. He was asking for retribution or, better yet, fleeing. Oh how he loved to flee. Fleeing was Vikors one true passion. A passion that was rarely indulged at that.

“I know, milady. It was just a few words of warning. Many people in this land have grown twisted; separated from the earth and her creatures. They have come to believe themselves above it all simply because they seem to be the greatest creature around. There is nothing wore than a sentient creature who believes himself master of all creatures. Oft-times these exact people are smote by those they believe to be superior to.” Felavik replied thoughtfully though he felt like he should say the horse was in the wrong too. Sentient or no if her horse had attacked a larger predator in any ther situation it would not have come out so well. “But you ought to impress upon your horse the value of restraint. Had it attacked a larger animal it might have been severely injured and I cannot say I believe you would have made any difference in such a fight.”

"I understand your words, and I will take them into consideration yet, Ryzan has none to do with the fact that many don't understand the bond that we Riders have with our Striders, it is not a mere bond of Master and Pet, it is a merging of souls, he is like my brother, or in some cases a jealous lover, although he denies it all the time...." Zyah'suyakal sighed, then stepped away from Ryzan and approached the Akalak, once she was a mere few inches from him.

She reached out with slightly trembling hands to touch callused yet delicate fingers to his cheek. She was seeing him in her own way, seeing him through touch. "Don't mind me....Please, just a few moments so I can see you, warrior."
