"WAAAAH?!" Kouri jumped back in surprise after a mysterious fire suddenly ignited on the man's hand. "Y-y-y-you... y-you... are a mage?!" Kouri asked even though it was obvious, she couldn't believe it. If she had fought this man without bringing any of her daggers with her, she could possibly be exterminated. phew... hafuh.... An extremely relieved sigh occurred in her mind, she did the right thing of not getting on this explorer's hostile end.

"uh...uhm... ah... uuuh..." She was afraid now, really afraid. Being on a Reimancer's hostile end without any weapons was like heading to a tiger's den while wearing a 'Eat Me!' sign. Then the man smiled at her, but it was a rather awkward smile and told her that if she wanted fun, she should just ask. "Y-yes, sir..." Kouri looked down to the ground and played with one of her hair ribbons.

Kouri's offer to help him was answered with a cautions questions. Kouri couldn't blame him, she tried to scare the shykes of him after all, it was natural that he became cautious. "W-well uuh... I don't know much about this caves either... I only visited here for a few times... and that was at the entrance. I'm not lying, honest. S-so... do you want to explore together?" She gave him the 'puppy-dog' eyes, hoping for the man to believe her. "Oh yeah.. my name is Fubuki Kouri, Sir. I'm sorry if I offended you before..." She lifted the hem of her dress and bowed slightly as she said her introduction.

[The Aylasa Cave] Haunted Caverns (Aoren)

Aoren watched her carefully for a few more seconds. She seemed genuinely remorseful but he couldn't be entirely sure. He knew next to nothing about the minds of spirits. That she wanted to frighten him for her amusement told him she was mischievous. After those few moments he sighed and shook his head.

"I must be crazy to trust a ghost." The words of a past acquaintance came to mind but he batted away the negative thoughts with a shrug of his shoulders. Running a hand through his hair he looked around the cave then spotted what he was looking for. Wordlessly he walked forward then picked up the discarded book from where it had fallen. He knelt down and undid the straps of his pack setting it on the cave floor. Opening the top flap he deposited the book inside so that he could come back to it later.

"So then it will be a bit of an adventure for the both of us. Discovering the secrets of a new, dark and mysterious place." He cast a glance over his shoulder at the hovering ghost. "You may call me Aoren, by the way." He shouldered his pack once more then rose to his feet adjusting the straps once he straightened. Turning back to face the ghost girl he walked over to the cave wall where he'd left his staff and grasped it.

"Shall we go figure out what is in some of the deeper parts of this place?" He nodded his head in the direction leading deeper into the cave.

"Aside from trying to scare the jeepers out of me, what are you doing in the Bronze Wood? Forgive my curiosity but I've never actually met a..." He glanced at her. She still put him a little uneasy. Aoren guessed that was the nature of spirits. To always keep you on the edge. He supposed that way a good thing. He kept his guard up as to not be caught unawares of any tricks she might try and pull.

OOCI think the thread is almost at his end. :D I was thinking of leaving the endings open-ended with Kouri and Aoren exploring the caves together. How about it? :) PM me if you want me to post it for grading.

But of course! If you have more to add, we can continue the thread. :D

Kouri lifted her head after her introduction and played with her hair ribbons. I hope I did good... She really wished the man would accept her apology. He shook his head and seemed to be deep in thought, then he began searching for something and seemed to have found it when he picked up a book and put the book inside his backpack. Kouri eyed him all the while. Do I need a backpack? To carry my stuffs? Naah... I have my daggers and uuh... I think I only need my daggers...

The man's next words filled her with excitement and relief. She accepted her apology and offer! "Yaaaaay! Yes yes! We will we will!" She literally jumped up and down in excitement. "Eheheh~ Nice to meet you too, Sir Aoren~" Aoren, what an elegant sounding name. It reminded Kouri of the word 'Aurora', being a Vantha in her life.

Kouri blinked to Aoren, materialized herself, and held his left hand with her right hand. "Ehehe~ Yes, let's go!" Then the odd couple began walking, heading deeper to the caves. "Hmm? Ahaha~ I live in the Bronze Woods now, I have lots of friends! both in the city and in the woods. There's Akilia, Sir Kise, Madame Vaspira, and others!" Kouri explained to Aoren. "Ghost?.... uh hun... I... yeah... I know I'm a ghost, b-b-but it's okay... I'm still a human inside..." She looked down on the ground while still walking and holding Aoren's left hand. Her haunting voice echoing in the cave.

The topic of her ghostly state was rather sensitive to her, she didn't became a ghost on her own free will. Her life was brutally wrenched from her by a tiger's jaw. "Anyway... please don't get lost, Sir Aoren. I can just go through the walls to exit, but I think you can't... ehehe~" She tried to change the topic.

And that day, The Aylasa cave had rather intriguing guests, an explorer and a ghost.

[The Aylasa Cave] Haunted Caverns (Aoren)

Postby Aoren on May 9th, 2013, 3:44 pm

Aoren conjured a bit of Res and willed the outer layers of it to swirl into a wind strong enough to levitate the torch. He devoted a portion of his thoughts to maintaining the steady stream of Djed needed to sustain the magic. With all of the meditation he'd been doing lately and the practice he'd been doing with his reimancy there wasn't much effort needed to conjure up a bit of wind to follow him around. He deposited the torch in the center of the cyclone. The flames flickered wildly and Aoren frowned. He willed the winds to lower just a bit. That caused the torch to drop in elevation but it was enough to keep the flames from whipping about mindlessly.

Aoren had spent a great deal of time perfecting this technique. The days he would spend in the woods practicing his magical arts he would study the effects that the wind had on the environment. He had found that at the center of a cyclone, be it wild or magical there existed a weightless space that could be used to carry objects and if large enough even people for a period of time. Of course the effect in the wild wasn't indefinite but once he'd gotten the hang of it he could make the perpetual vacuum of centrifugal force maintain the elevation of the object placed within the center of the air pocket.

He was surprised when Fubuki grabbed his hand but he smiled nonetheless.

"Alright, Ms. Fubuki, lets go on an adventure and I promise not to get lost if you don't." He tilted his head and winked at her. Aoren adjusted his grip on his staff and as they set out down into the cave he thought quietly to himself.

"I wonder what it will be like...befriending a ghost?" He glanced at Fubuki as she spoke about the people she knew and the life she had lead in the Bronze Wood. It seemed she did have a genuinely good spark. There would only be one way to answer that silent question.

"If you ever find yourself in Syliras you should come visit me." With that, the two of them set out on their little endeavor.

The odd pair. The Ghost and the Explorer.
