Akilia raised a eyebrow at ghost friend. Kouri seemed to get more psychotic and crazy with every passing hour. She recalled that Kouri was sane or a least more so when Akilia met her than the ghost was now. Was this the one drawback of being a ghost? To balance out they're cool perks? She wondered. They turn into nut jobs? Maybe turning dead-ish meant you lost a conscious? Maybe not? Eh whatever... As long as her moods aren't aimed at me, I don't really care...for the most part. Then there was the matter of killing the merchant, which got Akilia thinking on whether or not to tell Kouri that most wolves didn't find a fat dead merchant very appetizing. Jerked out of her thoughts after Kouri went after the rabbit. Akilia watched her friend both amazed and jealous at the ghost's flawless hunting technique.
With Kouri chasing the rabbit, Akilia focused on the vegetation around her not totally convinced that she was the only one here. She listened intently catching the sound of someone breathing almost immediately, the sound was followed by a soft rustle, probably made by something brushing a bush. Both sounds where faint but determined she breathed in then out catching that unmistakable stench of a human, the smell was odd though, it was mixed in with the forest and...bird? Akilia blinked in confusion tilting her head to one side, she was almost certain it was...
"I got it, Akilia..."
"Wha?" Akilia jumped at Kouri's voice. It was like the ghost had come out of nowhere and brought the little chill and smell of blood with her. The blood overwhelmed both the faint smell of bird that mixed with the fresh human scent in the area. Noticing the struggling rabbit in Kouri's hand Akilia laughed forgetting about what she had smelled a few moments before. She reached out a nervous hand to pet the rabbit, she was a predator yes, so she never really had the chance to actually touch the prey she saw unless she was killing it. The reaction the rabbit to Akilia's attempt was obvious, it opened it mouth, readied it's sharp incisors and chowed down...on her finger.
"Ahhh!" Akilia screamed, itmediatley thrusting her poor bleeding finger into her mouth and sucking on it. Pulling her finger out after a moment, she growled glaring at the rabbit, "treacherous thing. I'll kill you and eat you fur and all if you so much as squirm the wrong way." And on that note, the rabbit's eyes rolled back in its head and it passed out...or died. Akilia poked its soft white belly and smiled, well at least she got to touch it with a good chance it was still alive.
"Hmmm? A human snooping around? Is it Sir Xiulachu? Heh... hehehehe... tell him to come out... I won't do anything~"
"Oh the human?" Akilia replied, taking a whif of the air before saying, "Yep he's still here, hiding over there I'm guessing." She pointed in the general direction behind them where Xiulachu was hiding. "I think he's been hiding in there for a while." Akilia shrugged in sort of an apology to Kouri for not narrowing down Xiulachu's location earlier. "But its not like he could of heard anything we were saying after all, human ears-"
The soft rustling that Akilia had heard from Xiulachu shifting around in there, turned into loud, very obvious racket so much so that Akilia began to doubt that Kouri wouldn't be able to hear it. "Maybe Xiulachu has very good ears..." She commented, noticing that the man began to move around once she pointed out his location. She turned her head her body following the direction that it turned as Xiulachu continued to move about.
Then Xiulachu stepped out quickly, and Akilia smirked and said in a smug voice, "I told you he was here." To Kouri who was on Akilia's right.
"Just so you know, I am no knight and I care not for any merchant too rich to understand the basics survival. Xiulachu announced to the two who were less than twenty meters from where he stood. And Akilia, I know very well how to track people who need to be found."
"Just so I know," The girl snorted, "You smell too much of the forest to be a knight, not to mention you don't talk very much." Once again Akilia shifted into a guarded but lazy fighting stance, though this time she made it pretty obvious. She didn't exactly trust Xiulachu, he seemed too shady which gave off the impression of being unpredictable. "Tracking people who need to be found you say? Why indeed do I happen to be in need of being found? My trail was so sloppy even a child could follow it..." She furrowed her brow in thought, "...maybe...but that's besides the point. The real question is what are you doing here?" The scent of bird and human radiated off of him to the point where she just had to ask, "Why do you smell like a bird? Do you have a chick in you pocket or something?" |
