Appearance
Race: Kelvic Gender: Male Age: 9 Birthday: 12, Fall, 503AV Birthplace: The Wildlands
Appearance:
-As a man, Cian is large. Covered in thick muscle, he cuts an imposing figure no matter the crowd. His hair is brown and long, thick and rarely combed. His beard reaches down to the top of his ribs, running wild across his face. If he's trying to impress, he'll tie it in a braid. Most times though, it remains free and unfettered.
His eyes are dark brown, and what little face can be seen through the hair is rugged and handsome. The canines on the right side of his mouth are silver, specially engineered by his former bondmate and her father to fit into both his human skull and his animal skull without appearing odd.
-As a bear, large is an understatement. When he stands, he stands at a towering seven and a half feet. He weighs in at somewhere around 900 pounds of muscle, teeth, and fur. When on all fours, he stretches to almost five feet. His fur is a dark brown, as are his eyes.
His teeth are around two inches in length, and his claws stretch to around four.
Character History
"I was born in the Fall, somewhere in the Wildlands. My father was a traveling blacksmith and my mother was his jewel. Their caravan was a few days out of Zeltiva. My father wanted to sell his wares to some ship captain or another. My mother shouldn't have come on the trip, but the two were inseparable. It was a pure love if it was anything, and as soon as I was born I felt it.
My parents were never ashamed of me being what I was. Maybe they were unnerved by the quick development, the aging, but if they were they never let on. Must've been hard on them though, having a son like me. Gods, but I can only imagine how much I cost them in food.
At five years old, I looked like a teenager when I was a human. I wonder what the people we traveled with said around the campfire when we'd gone to sleep. Nothing good I imagine. I walked with my parents as a bear when we traveled. I could keep up with them, scare off would be bandits, find them food. I'd started to feel the urge to bond, to find someone to dedicate my life to, but I fought it. I was an independent boy.
My mother taught me to read and write, the basics of math, important things. I hated every second of it, but I learned to make her happy. My father had started to teach me to smith. I liked that more than book work. It didn't last though.
By the time I was seven years old, I couldn't fight the urge to bond any longer. I bid my parents farewell and went off on my own, heading nowhere in particular. I just knew I needed something.
That's when I met Kera and her father Orin. She was a blacksmith, a woman blacksmith, and he was an...inventor. He had learned dentistry in his youth to pay the bills, but his true passion was tinkering. I met them in Sunberth first, and took them to Syliras. Kera was on her way to work metal for the Knights. Her father saw Syliras as an opportunity to sell his inventions. They hired me because...I turn into a grizzly bear. No one gives a grizzly bear shyke, unless they want to end up in bloody chunks.
Kera and I bonded on the trip, while discussing metalworking techniques. Her father approved of the relationship, and for a long while we were happy. They made me my teeth after I took a club to the face getting them out of a tavern brawl. I don't know how they work, only that they're designed to move up and down in my jaws when I change forms. When I'm human, they look like human teeth, only a tad sharper. When I change though, they fall down my extended root and look like bear teeth. Amazing innit?
Something happened though. It was my fault. I'd gotten too complacent in my days of traveling, having never been attacked. One night, on a trip out of Syliras to Zeltiva we were attacked; ambushed by bandits under the cover of darkness. I managed to fight them off, ignorant of my own wounds. I felt Kera die. I felt the arrow that pierced her heart. I felt her lifeblood leak out as I tried to drive our attackers away. Neither of them survived. I was the only one.
I went into seclusion for a long time, staying in my bear form and living in the Wildlands. I thought of taking my own life over and over again, but I never did. I feel like Kera would have been disappointed in me.
I came out of it after a long time, a few years, something along those lines. I don't really remember. I kept traveling, taking people across the Wildlands, doing it because I felt guilty for failing the people who had taken me in, who had loved me like my own family. It doesn't help. It doesn't bring them back, but it's what I do, because without something to focus on, I'd die.
Plain and simple. I'd die."
