Xylona Redwater Appearance Race: Human, Mixed Gender: Female Age: 25 Birthday: 72nd of Winter, 489 AV in Lhavit Appearance: Xylona, at 5 foot 3 and 100 pounds is an average sized girl. Although a great fighter, she isn't someone usually labeled as tough. Her body shape is more nimble and agile than strong. Because of this, she is often underestimated. However, those who do underestimate her are easily proved wrong. She has long brown hair and light green eyes. While Xylona does have fair skin, freckles spatter her cheeks, causing her skin color to appear lighter than she really is. Her thin face rarely holds a smile, but those whom she trusts enough may get lucky and hear a brief laugh or see a fleeting smile. Character Concept Xylona has had many names in the past, which she changes as she pleases. If asked, she refuses to speak of these past identities. Her current name was chosen just after her parents were killed. Xylona like to have significant meanings behind her names. After much studying, she was able to pick a name for herself and her dog based on the ancient tongue. The name Sacha, for her dog, means "defender of man" while Xylona means "wood-dweller". She picked this because she was in the woods at the time of the murder and stayed there for days after, praying and wandering the woods. She chose Redwater as her last name for the color the river turned when her parent's blood stained it. Xylona isn't a very cheerful girl. She is never willing to trust, always expecting the worst from everyone. She is quick to use her fists, and even quicker with her tongue. She can be quite stubborn at times, even when she knows she is wrong. Xylona prefers to stay away from people whenever possible but forces herself to be hospitable if anyone should need her (although she doesn't have to be happy about it). She continues residing in Lhavit, as this is where she was born and raised and knows no other home. One of the few places she will allow herself to go in public is the local taverns. The girl relies heavily on ale during her most melancholy days. Otherwise, Xylona tries to deal with the pain by writing in her journal, but this doesn't always work. Character History Growing up in a small apartment in Lhavit, Xylona was a fairly standard girl. Her mother, Kalila, was a kind-hearted aurist, teaching others her skill whenever she could. Her mother was born into the Benshira way of life, but upon meeting her father, came back to Lhavit with him. Xylona's father, Mojag, was also a wizard who excelled in spiritism. He too, had a soft heart and a friendly smile for whoever came to their door. Xylona can remember either of her parents dragging home strays daily- animal or human. The only animal she kept was her ever faithful hunting dog and companion, Sacha. Xylona doesn't remember much of her family life before her parent's passing as it wasn't too eventful. She had a few friends, good parents and a place to call home. But that all changed in a heartbeat. One day, when Xylona was about 12, she was out learning a bit of auristics from her mother. The two usually enjoyed the bonding time alone, but brought Xylona's father along this time because he had the day off work. All three were making a huge racket; they were laughing, singing, and just generally goofing off when, out of nowhere, there were bandits. Xylona was frightened horribly, but her mother and father protected her the best they could. The three had wasted most of their existing djed on the practice and so had no way to defend themselves. Mojag had just enough energy to fend off the bandits until Xylona escaped. The horrified girl watched from across the field as first her mother, then her father, fell into the river, their bodies beaten and bloodied. The water ran red, and Xylona changed her name to honor her parent's memory, but was never able to smile the same way again. Xylona stayed in that same apartment, refusing to leave. She still lives there with Sacha, continuing to study auristics and following Leth's spiritual guidance. Religion Religion is a huge part of Xylona's life. She is a strict believer in the Gods, and frequently prays to Leth, God of the moon, change, reflection, and thoughts. She believes that Leth must have a large influence on everyone's life, regardless of whether they believe or not. She also feels that he will guide her in reflection on her rough past, and so help her better herself in the future. Xylona thinks that when the time is right, he will tell her when to change her name again, and so unlock a new chapter in her life, perhaps a happier one. She prays almost solely to Leth, although she does acknowledge Syna and Zintila at times. She often has wondered if the dog might have some wolf in him, because of his long black snout and yellow-tinted eyes. He was brought home by Mojag as a stray and has stayed in the family ever since. Housing Location: Lhavit, in Solar Wind Apartments House: Xylona lives in a simple apartment at Solar Wind Apartments. The room isn't very personalized. She took out most of her parent's things after their death. The room includes the standard, low-elevated Lhavitian-style bed, a wooden desk, a soft, rounded chair, a hearth, armoire and couch. There are a few plants here and there but nearly no artwork. There is also a food and water dish for Sacha by her bed. Relations Name: Kalila Dawnshadow Relation: Mother Location: N/A Description: Kalila was a lively woman. Her dark brown hair and vibrant green eyes show in Xylona's own features, but her skin was much darker, closer to brown. Kalila grew up with a Benshira lifestyle, but abandoned her old ways as soon as she met Xylona's father. The two moved to Lhavit and stayed there together ever since. Until, of course, Kalila was killed in a robbery by a pack of bandits. Xylona has fond memories of her mother, and still admires her caring ways. Xylona's interest in auristics is a result of their close relationship. Name: Mojag Dawnshadow Relation: Father Location: N/A Description: Mojag was an honest and caring man, having lived his whole life in Lhavit. He was great in spiritism, and often would see clients to help them be rid of hauntings. This was how he earned a living for his family. Right up until the day he was murdered, he had never thrown a punch first. He believed in self-defense and violence only as a last resort. Mojag encouraged intelligence and good behavior, stressing this when he taught Xylona the ways of the world. His greatest love was for animals, and he passed on this love to Xylona. He also left her the family pet and hunting dog, Sacha. Name: Sacha Relation: Pet, Hunting dog Location: Lhavit, most commonly Xylona's apartment Description: Sacha has a personality all his own. At 3 years old, he isn't the most mature, but has the build of a full-grown dog. Xylona has often wondered if he has some wolf in him, but never bothered to find out. He has black fur with a few tiny white patches and dark golden eyes, making him perfect for blending in during Lhavit's night hours. Sacha can be hyper and bothersome at times, but is usually described as energetic, happy, and faithful. He is one of Xylona's few close comforts, but usually stays in the apartment rather than accompany Xylona. She is afraid he will get lost and cannot bear the thought of losing the only remaining link to her father.
