I'll just be warming myself by the fire while I wait." "A fine choice. Hmm. Well I suppose in some parts the yarn I shall spin is similar to this book you've brought me. There is enchantment, beauty, joy, and all the wonderful things that give men and women alike hope that in the end, perfect love conquers all. But, I think to set the theme for this story, we'll need to get a bit more realistic." With that said, the Narrator tossed the book into the flames of the fireplace. "There. That should do it. Now I shall recount to you the history of true love, surrounded on all sides by flames wanting nothing more than to see it turned to ash. Careful, less my words burn your ears."

Once upon a time... there was a child born of Vantha blood who, for unknown reasons, was abandoned on The White Isle. Some say the parents never meant to have the babe, and chose to leave it with the Konti so that he may have a family that would care for him. Others argue that the lovers were afraid for the infant's safety should he stay in Avanthal, no doubt some dark and mysterious force at work which he needed to be hidden from. And still others would have you believe it as simple a tragedy as a mother dying during childbirth. Whoever knows the truth of the matter has yet to see fit and share. What is known is that the Konti took the boy in as one of their own, showered him with more love and affection than any newborn could ever hope for, and taught him their ways. Sadly, all the love and affection of the world could not prepare the youth for what was to come. For you see, the Konti have the gift of sight, and whenever the chavi of Jabari was looked upon, death and chaos found him on his sixteenth birthday and followed until the end. Avalis herself would tell you that visions are just that, potential outcomes for what might transpire should all variables remain unchanged. At least, that is what she might normally say. But sadly, no matter which paths would present themselves to the young Chaser of Dreams, which roads less traveled he may take, the destination remained unchanged... death, chaos, heartbreak. And so, on his 16th birthday, Jabari sailed away from the only place he had ever called home towards the unknown lands of Mizahar, hoping to draw the attention of his fate away from those he loved.

The Surface While no ballads are sung of his beauty, Jabari is handsome enough. And although there exist no poetry of his grace, the Chaser of Dreams has a certain finesse of his own. Still though, he is young and has some growing up to do. Perhaps in time the bards and poets of the world might take notice, but for now, another face among the crowd strikes out in search of his destiny. At five feet and six inches, the majority of the teenager's sleek frame is made up of lean muscle yet to fully mature. Years spent working and playing among the Konti encouraged a certain amount of athleticism, albeit still in it's awkward stages. Black hair is fashionably unkempt. Caught in the right light, numerous strands acknowledge his Vantha heritage, as glowing shades of purple sing of the Aurora. Jabari traditionally wears his hair no longer than chin length, seeking trained hands to trim the ends as need and opportunity arise. And then of course, there are the eyes. A single conversation with the youth would be more than enough for the defining Vantha trait to reveal itself. Few outside Mura know what each color represents, the shades often blending together and dancing off one another hinting at the depths of Jabari's thoughts. Consistently though, a darker background is present suggesting a stoic nature. Only in times of high emotion do the more vibrant hues make themselves known. Jabari rarely pays attention to what is considered in style or out, choosing instead to wear what he feels the most comfortable in. He favors loose fitting clothing that allows for ease of movement. Earth colored tones are preferred, though clean garments usually win out over personal inclinations.

What lay Beneath Though the Konti are an all-female race, Jabari represents what one might expect from a son of The White Isle. He is soft spoken, slow to anger, and has little interest in violence. One would be more likely to find the teenager attempting to break up a fight rather than encourage it's commencement. However, a peaceful disposition shouldn't be confused with weakness. Jabari will always stand up for what he believes in, despite the consequences of doing so. And while never one to disregard visions of the future, he is of the firm belief that a person can change their destiny. The path might be hidden in complete darkness, but it is there, waiting to be found. Aside from love, it is perhaps this belief alone that drives the Vantha more than anything else, providing much needed hope throughout his travels. Tied to this drive is a desire to learn and grow with each new day. For better or worse, Jabari has developed a curiosity of the world which walks a thin line between healthy and dangerous. Jabari does his best to treat everyone with kindness and respect, though he will never force either of the two, defaulting to a rude type of civility when in the presence of individuals he doesn't care for. In another life, he might have made a fine squire, considering his fondness for knightly virtues. It should come at no surprise then, that the adopted son of Konti Island has a strong disliking for those who would improve their lot in life at the expense of others. When in doubt, Jabari tries to see the good in others. Should someone find themselves named comrade by the Chaser of Dreams, they will have gained a loyal friend for life.

Belongings   Housing On a quest to know without knowing, Jabari is very much a nomad. Whenever he feels that lessons learned have become few and far between, the Vantha packs up his belongings and moves on to the next city. Likewise, any hints of growing too comfortable within an area usually result in a desire to leave it, as the Chaser of Dream's ultimate goal is to one day return to Mura. The rumor says that one afternoon, while walking alone along the shores of Konti Isle, Jabari spotted a Gildling exiting the sea. Without any warning, the mare began following the teenager as if the two of them had been companions for some time. Those who suggest that the tale is sincere whisper that Laviku himself sent the protector to aid the Chaser of Dreams in his journey. Surely someone knows the accuracy of these claims.
