(Posted In Cities and Circulated by Caravans throughout Mizahar)

Greetings Mizaharians!

ImageI am Mathias Syka. Please note the last name. I have a lengthy family history dating back well before the Valterrian. My people originally hailed from the jungles of Falyndar in a time of peace before the reign of Ivak's Catastrophe. And now that I've made my fortunes throughout Sylira, I'm longing for more, to go back to my roots, and rediscover the lost secret of why Syka perished.

I am not alone. I know others want to know, or simply just want a new life. To that end, I am gathering together an expedition to go to the jungles of Falyndar, partake in the biggest archeological dig ever, and refound Syka into the booming thriving city it once was. But none of this can happen overnight, nor can I accomplish this monumental task alone.

I need volunteers, skilled volunteers, that can work both towards the archaeological goals and towards the re-founding of Syka. Who wouldn't want to live in a jungle paradise? The only thing we truly have to worry about is the Myrians, and word has it they are greatly weakened right now after both the djed storm and dhani uprisings happening in the region.

To that end, we need strong skilled volunteers. These volunteers, however, will not need to worry about financing. I have basically unlimited resources to put towards this project. And so, here is my offer to you.

If you would like to join my expedition, I will gladly consider you as a part of it IF you are competently skilled in all manners of support needed for an endeavor of this kind. We need guards, scientists, and even business people and support staff. This staff can be made up of doctors, cooks, engineers, sailors, virtually anything.

And the perks? I pay well, and if you are willing to start a business once we get Syka resettled and safe, I will fund the means for you to do so. This includes arranging passage, by ship, for your supplies needed and your personnel. Let me give you an example. If you are a cook and wish to come along, you will be paid well and expected to cook for the expedition along the way. Once settled at Syka, you will be expected to continue to cook for the expedition and new settlement, though I will arrange for a restaurant or mess hall to be built and your supplies to be brought in so that you are compensated for your time and once the settlement is complete, you can live independently if you wish. All carpentry tools and carpenters, fasteners, and or blacksmiths to make them will be brought along along with the expedition.

This expedition is leaving from Riverfall on the 50th of Summer. We will be hopefully arriving in Falyndar before the 60th in order to get started on the settlement. Sign up at the Port of Riverfall at the Portmaster's Office.

Regards,

Mathias Syka

Hello Folks!

Have you longed for a God-Touched adventure? Do you want to be part of an epic game changing plotline? Well, now is your chance. We are going to attempt to do what hasn't been done before. We are going to completely and utterly found an entire settlement in Falyndar by humans and assorted other races IN CHARACTER. There will be challenges along the way, pitfalls and rewards, and of course incredible risk from things like Myrians and Dhani and the Jungle Wilds themselves. But you will be able to unearth secrets and be a first settler in a city that hasn't existed since before the Valterrian where it vanished in a great mystery that only Mathias fully knows about.

So, if you'd like to join, Mathias will fund your trip to Falyndar. All you need to do is post an IC blurb IN THIS thread selling yourself to Mathias in a letter or note sent to the Portmaster expressing your interest. Write the introduction, sell yourself, and you will receive an answer as to whether you were accepted or not. :) You must, however, be skilled! If you are not, and try to lie your way in you may still get accepted, but if your secret is discovered you will have hell to pay along with the trip. So good luck.

Comments welcome.

Additional Info:

Mathias is a business man and in many ways a visionary. His plans have almost always born fruit, though it is something of a mystery to outsiders why. The number one explanation, to someone who knows him closely, is that Mathias is a priest of Xhyvas. He sees possibilities and utilizes them. But Xhyvas isn't the only God or Goddess who has touched this man. Business, Industry, Luck and even a Goddess who gifts him with the knowledge of what value things hold has all guided his hand.

Mathias, it has been said, was born to do great things and found empires, thats why the Gods have touched him so heavily and he's felt so driven to earn the coin he needed to found and fund this expedition.

[Global Quest] Rediscovering A Lost Civilization

Postby Abase on June 3rd, 2013, 1:27 am

To the esteemed Mathias Syka

I am known by the name Kasaiabase, or simply Abase as I am known by my father's people. I have searched for many years to find my purpose in life, and if it were not for my dear mother and her teaching I might have given up long ago. Even so, I have found myself being drawn toward your cause, and I wish to add my abilities to the task of creating Syka.

My father is an Akalak weaponsmith, while my mother is a Konti healer. From their two very different worlds I have learned to see the world with eyes filled with hope and possibilities. I have been gifted many things in my relatively short life, such as talents given to me from the waters of the Konti Isle. I have passed my Right of Passage and become a man in the eyes of my Father's people, and from my mother I have been given wisdom and patience. The Goddess Avalis has placed her mark upon me as well, giving me a clearer insight into the twisting visions of the past which I hope will help to aid us as we forge on into the future. I offer my services to you in any way that you deem fit, whether it be as a labor hand to aid in the construction of the city, a guard to help guide a safe passage through the many dangers of the world, or as any other aid you may find yourself in need of. I believe in your cause, and I seek to find my purpose within it.

Humbly yours,
Kasaiabase

OOCThis is exactly what I have been looking for to get this character going :)

[Global Quest] Rediscovering A Lost Civilization

Postby Brodon Windriver on June 3rd, 2013, 3:43 am

Honored Sir Mathias Syka,

I am giving apologies at the front of this letter for my clumsy speaking of common. I cannot be expressioning my desire for accompaning your expedition to the Jungle Land of Falyndar. I would not be wishing to be take up so much of your very busy time with great detailing of my journeys.

Being brief, my father, Warem Windriver, of the Diamond Clan, fell ill to unwaking sleep and a symbol none recognizes appeared on his head. I am being spending more than the last year in searching of the meaning. I have crossed the desert Burning Lands being in Eyktol. I have been survivor of bandit attacks and monsters. I was being honored by the Pressorah for being revealer of falsed guards in Ahnatep. I am have been survivor of storm of sand in same Eyktol lands. I am not saying these for self-glory, for I am believing the hand of Yahal is protector of me. Many times I should have been dying, but always I did live.

I am in fearing that my skills are less than you seek of your people. But my travels, of the most trying and misdirection making kind, led me to see the banner of hiring on a desert caravan that I was only just catching. I am thinking it also is Yahal's will.

But perhaps you are not believing these things are being of gods doings. If so, I will steady to follow priest Joebel of Yahebah advising of being patient. If your adventure is not being the sign I am seeker of, than Yahal will wish you to say no, so I am content.

Oh yes, I have riding as guard with bow and staff and know somethings of falconry message sending, if this is being of use for you.

Thank you for time,

Brodon Windriver

[Global Quest] Rediscovering A Lost Civilization

Postby Lacerta on June 3rd, 2013, 3:04 pm

Dear Mathias Syka

This may be a simple letter, but I have learned about this plan of yours, and am incredibly intrigued. Your idea to create a new settlement in Falyndar is an excellent one, and I must express my desire to join in with this expedition. It is a grand dream, and one that I dare say is going to be a very real, and magnificent one.

I may not be incredibly skilled in many things, but I do think I have at least one of value. I am a good sailor, and have a boat of my own that I am willing to provide for the cause, as long as I am the captain of it of course. Though I know you have your own ships, since the trip will obviously require sea travel, you need captains to run the boats, and sail them. I am able to fulfill this obvious need, so I believe I can be a good asset to your team.

Another thing is that I am an excellent music composer, though I'm not quite sure how useful that may be to the journey. More importantly, however, is my general knowledge. Being an Ethaefal, I am much older than most, and with age comes experience. I have sailed to many places, including Lhavit, so I do know quite a bit in general. I believe this information is at least equally, or possibly more useful than my skill at sailing.

I hope I have proven to you that me and my skills will be useful in your journey, and that I would love to join you on your adventure to begin a new city.

Thank you for your time.

Promptly, as if the letters were foreseen and responded too before they were posted, answers were received. Sometimes they arrived by messenger just bells after the originals were sent.

Kasaiabase- I have reserved a space in the expedition for you. We can discuss your wages and job title when I meet with you face to face. The fact that you are willing to look at the world and its possibilities, as well as being touched by Avalis makes the decision easy for me. Come to Riverfall. Find a room at Atri's Place and say you are with the expedition. Room and board will be then covered. We will muster a day or two before the 50th to talk and plan.

I look forward to our meeting.

Mathias Syka.

Dear Brodon-

Your offer to be a guard, archer and staff man is eagerly accepted. The messenger service is equally welcome since we will be communicating between ships and that can cause issues at times. Come to Riverfall. Find a room at Atri's Place and say you are with the expedition. Room and board will be then covered. We will muster a day or two before the 50th to talk and plan.

Regards,

Mathias Syka

Lacerta-

A sailor indeed is welcome. Any additional ships - both as scouts and guides - would be more than welcome. I hope to see you in Riverfall at our mustering point. Find a room at Atri's Place and say you are with the expedition. Room and board will be then covered. We will muster a day or two before the 50th to talk and plan.

Sincerely,

Mathias Syka

OOC: For those of you already coming... lets not mess around but get started immediately. Here's your first quest thread. A meet and greet to muster yourselves and get to know the expedition leader. It's not too late to join, or even create an alt to go, but I will warn you when we get as many as I think we might need, I will shut it down. I don't offer these quests much, but I did want to offer an epic god-involved quest that everyone and anyone had the opportunity to join if they so wanted too. So here it is. And without further ado, part I.

[Global Quest] Rediscovering A Lost Civilization

Postby Mongoose on June 3rd, 2013, 4:36 pm

Portmaster,

My name is Mongoose, I am a Pyon from Ahnatep, and I have come to recently learn of an expedition to the foreign jungles of Falyndar. I would like to express my interest in this journey, and offer up my skills. During my time in Ahnatep, I was often a hired mercenary, guarding Eypharians, doing whatever they asked of me.

I may not be the most talented of all those who apply, especially in this great city, but I've always managed to come through in a pinch. On the trip there, I can earn my keep as a guard or laborer, but I feel that when we arrive, my talents will be of much more use. If we are visiting a city in ruins, then I would like to be part of the exploration teams. As a Pycon I am quite small, can fit into spaces that many can't, can scout ahead where those can't. And should trouble come along, I can take care of myself, and do my best to take care of those around me. I feel that I would be an especially useful addition to this journey, and I'm more than willing to prove it. All I need is a chance, just one chance.

So please, if you think I could be useful, allow me to join this expedition.

Thank you for your time,

Mongoose

[Global Quest] Rediscovering A Lost Civilization

Postby Eleret on June 3rd, 2013, 4:40 pm

Greetings to the esteemed Matthias Syka,

I write in response to your announcement of the expedition to Syka. As a sometime student of history myself, I find the proposed expedition most compelling, and would welcome the opportunity to take part in it, should you approve of my petition. I am a Konti, native to Konti Isle and blessed with Avalis' favor; I can contribute the talents of my race to the expedition as well as my own learning and experience. Beyond Mura, I have traveled to Zeltiva on several occasions to study Mizahar's past at the University there, though I can claim only an interested student's familiarity with such affairs. Above and beyond these, my greatest skill lies in woodcarving, which I have pursued since I was a child. Most recently, I have employed that skill in the service of the Zeltivan shipyards. It would be my great pleasure to apply my skills and abilities to the needs of the Syka expedition, and along the way to also broaden my own knowledge and expertise in matters of history and archaeology.

I look forward to your reply, and hope to join you in Riverfall and in Syka beyond. May good fortune go with all your endeavors.

[Global Quest] Rediscovering A Lost Civilization

Postby Gossamer on June 3rd, 2013, 5:14 pm

OOC: Couple of questions came up.

First, if you already have a PC in Riverfall, you are welcome to run a second PC through Riverfall for the quest if you don't interact with your current PC there. That's perfectly fine given your second pc is going to be there just a few days and sail off to Falyndar.

Secondly, the first quest thread takes place in the evening at night. It states that in the thread by this line..." It was a hot summer night so the only thing the torches did was provide light."

[Global Quest] Rediscovering A Lost Civilization

Postby Calen on June 3rd, 2013, 9:00 pm

    * CALEN *

    To the esteemed Mathias Syka,

I trust that this correspondence finds you both prosperous and healthy. I am writing in response to the continent-wide letter you seem to have sent. As a young, ambitious and, admittedly, sheltered young man, I have always held the ideal of becoming a well-traveled individual and it has come to my attention that your letter, your proposition, offers me the chance to pursue that ideal.

As such, I would like to offer my services as a user of magic. Though I suspect that there may be more proficient users, I hold the firm belief that I am suitably competent user of Auristics and Reimancy. I would mention my prowess at Projecting, but I'd be lying if I said it at all rivaled my ability in the other two practices.

I hope that you will, at the very least, consider me for your expedition.

    Sincerely yours, Calen of Zeltiva.

P.S. I hope that the old-world view of 'uncontrollable mad-mage' has not colored your opinion of magic users; I've always found discrimination a bit unsightly and I trust a man of your reputation shares my views on the matter.
