Why, I'm Me, You See!
Meville is the product of a wizard consumed by his thirst for
power and a woman with a gentle heart and a broken mind.
Though often bright and cheery on the surface, Meville struggles
with the demons passed down to him from his parents. A practicing mage in his own right,
Meville tends to use his projection for mundane tasks rather than serious training (though, should
the need arise, he could defend himself with it). And, of course, whether jocular or malicious,
Meville enjoys mischief and mayhem as much as any questionably sane individual.

1 Cabin in the Savintar Warrens
My Past Behind Me,
Meville was born and raised in the city of Avanthal, though his lack of a Vantha heritage and his father’s complete lack of interest in finding a place among the Holds meant home was the Savintar Warrens. He grew up around the coming and going of those who visited the great, wintery city, so tales of places far beyond the icy walls of his home were common to his ear though never did they lose their intrigue. In truth, the travelers were more of a family to the young boy than his parents.
Tomas, Meville's father, had at one time been a wizard of some power. Lusting for more, but unwilling learn along the natural course of time, Tomas sought the added strength of the power of leeching. The power was never enough, and Tomas quickly found himself weakening at the cost of what he had hoped would give him strength. Disheartened, the drive that had once pushed him to seek out power was replaced by his own fear of death. He retreated to Avanthal, resigning himself only to solitary magical research. He took with him his wife, Alira, who followed him without thought. There in Avanthal, Meville was born a few years after their arrival. Alira had always been weak of mind, and the pain of childbirth finally ended, so too did her sanity. It was not a complete break, rather she became extremely docile, almost child-like. She coo'ed along with her child, giggling and drooling as did he when she was allowed to hold him. For the most part, Meville was raised by his father who found taking care of both wife and son bothersome, but bearable.
When Meville was old enough, he helped his father with his research, mainly in the form of fetching food or drink to bring back, or cleaning up after his mother. It was around the time Meville turned fifteen that his father decided to teach the growing boy the art of magic. First, he taught Meville projection. Using his astral form to affect the world around him was not only exciting, but an experience to bond with the cold figure Meville had had as a father. He embraced the experience and tried hard to please him. As a reward for his efforts, Tomas tattooed glyphs onto Mevill so he could more easily conduct his magic. Though painful, it is one of the very few things his father left him that Meville truly appreciates.
As time passed, his mother's condition worsened, and with each new incident did Tomas' ability to keep a level head and clear mind diminish. Alira passed in the night, quietly, when Meville was eighteen. He had sat with her as the light flickered from her eyes, and it was then he discovered her journal. Tucking it away with his few possessions, Meville kept it as a reminder of his lost mother.
After the death of Alira, Tomas threw himself into his research. For days, he would nothing but scribble in his ledger. Often times, he would fail to eat the food Meville would return with, mumbling about "balance" this and "draining" that. Eventually, Tomas put down his quill and told Meville they would be going on a short trip outside the city. There, Tomas drained the Djed from his son, initiating him into the art of leeching. An unpleasant experience to say in the least, they returned back to their home. There, Tomas forced Meville to increase his leeching abilities in the privacy of their home.
A short while after Meville's twentieth birthday, his father died leaving behind a small pouch of GMs and a book filled with nonsense. He had been just as insane as his wife, only he had hidden it much better.
Meville must now find how to support himself on his own. He is not completely inept, but never having to had to work before, he finds himself uncertain as to his future.
