[5th day of summer 513.a.v.]
[City Center]
[Institute of Higher learning]
[Middle day]

enrolmentAmelia enrolled last season, for the ‘basic’ pack. Her type of enrolment hasn’t changed this season and her chosen subject is Hypnotism

Dedicated to start her proper, in depth, studies of the art known as Hypnotism, at the institute of higher learning. Amelia walked proudly to the building that might scare most anyone who wasn’t familiar or welcomed in it. But Amelia, Amelia entered proudly with her chin up high. In her hands she held her blank book, a quill and a vial of ink. She was ready to study and unlike last season, really study. She wished to honestly make her father proud, or at least, make herself realize she is capable of something more than just looking good.

Walking through the hallways, she could feel the most interesting of feelings. Everything seemed to mix here. They had a few yelps of what seemed pain, or maybe horror? The black haired girl decided to let it pass, as if she had known that it was nothing of importance, or more precisely, wanted to believe it was nothing.

Clack, clack, clack. echoed her footsteps as she walked closer and closer to the library. She was trembling with excitement of just thinking what kind of knowledge lied in their offered books. With a smile on her strawberry red lips, she pushed the doors open and entered. And in awe did she stay for a moment. Letting her black eyes cover the countless shelves of books that lied before her. ”now, just to find what I need” her mind spoke on its own, as she walked over by a desk that was nicely positioned by a window. There she sat down her study equipment and left into shelve exploring.

It toke Amelia a steady moment to orientate which way the alphabet worked and what exactly she had to look for. But as soon as she did, nothing could stop the girl from heading towards the shelves marked under “H”. ”Hypnotism….Hypnotism…hmmm…come here” she thought as her fingers brushed along the backs of the books. Most of it was Hypnotism, but the girl could register it at first glance. And then, she came upon an dark brown book, that had the word “Hypnotism” in yellow on its back. The color being close to gold, she couldn’t help but pick the exact book. As soon as she toke it in her hands, a feeling of joy overwhelmed her and she caringly let her fingers slide over its cover. The book was covered in what seemed leather; it made it nice to the touch.

Without any further hesitation, she brought the book with her to the desk she had sat her stuff by. Taking a comfortable seat in front of the window. She opened her book on the first page, opened the vial of ink and toke her black quill into her right hand…and wrote..

”The Art of Hypnotism”

Proud of her own handwriting, she toke closer the actual library’s book, flipped the page and began reading.

Amelia was reading the book. But she found little interest to copy every single part of the book in her own. She just read through it, once, once more. And then she decided what was worth writing down. ”The concept of Hypnotism…hmm….” she wet her quill in ink, and began writing, with her lips moving along to sync the writing:

”They key concept of Hypnotism is suggesting and manipulating minds.” and underneath the sentence, in a neat column se wrote down ” Using Hypnotism, the wizard unleashes their own Djed through their eyes, voice, presence and mannerism, inducing effects in the minds of those around them. Hypnotism is most effective upon eye contact, but if the user is much more familiar with the discipline, voice and demeanor are enough to cause suggestions, hallucinations and even full bewitchment. Acting and rhetoric ability are very important for this discipline to achieve maximum effect..” She flipped the page, about the uses and risks of Hypnotism.

Writing down a word ”Uses” she underlined it, and under it wrote ” Mental conditioning, persuasion, hallucinations and more” a vogue concept. But she had known about hypnotism before, for it to be enough of information in her book. Or so she hopped.

The next small headline was written down as “Risks” and under it she listed.
    Somatic trauma
    Overgiving
    Personality disorders
    Alioentation

And while the concept seemed to be clear. Amelia found herself being curious about the details of these traumas. Clyde had told her about overgiving, but she still lacked detail about it. The black haired girl flipped to the back of the book. She was trying to see a headline of a chapter, which would identify more information about it. But she couldn’t manage to do so.

Amelia stood up, and walked around the library, trying to spot a lector who might have been familiar with hypnotism. She had little luck, until she spotted a woman, standing by the books labeled under ‘hypnotism’. With a slightly shaky step and a bit more shaking voice she began speaking ”E...Excuse me, are you a professor?” Amelia asked, the woman didn’t speak much, she just nodded her head, not even looking at Amelia.

”I’m looking for some help, could you please…assist me? In Hypnotism studies?” she asked, the woman turned her face to look at Amelia and smiled slightly. The two walked to the desk Amelia had occupied.

The woman looked at Amelia’s choice of book and was about to laugh, she had chosen a beginners book. Making it clear she was a new student. But the woman didn’t say a word, and patiently waited for the question Amelia was about to ask.

”what’s overgiving?” Amelia asked, and looked at the woman, who thought her answer over before she gave an answer ”In short, Overgiving means you used too much magic for your own body to handle. In other words, over used Djed.” ”Djed, as in essence?””essence? Well that could be one way to describe it, Djed is more of a primal energy, the beginning energy of all…so while essence is close, it’s not quite as fancy, is it?Back to overgiving…Generally, it is just a term that we use to describe the negative effect of a certain magical discipline left on a person” Amelia listened carefully, and was writing down what she found to be worth notice.

”the book said there are different types of overgiving””and so it is, each discipline leads to different types of damage that could be left to your body, mind, soul” she explained, while Amelia wrote down ”The multiple forms of overgiving, depend on the form of magic discipline it was caused by” ”what would be the most common types of these effects?” she asked, in order to make her notes as detailed as she could humanly manage. ”It depends on the discipline, for a Morpher, it might be the loss of his own form and morphing without reason, for an Auristic, might as well be the loss of his own senses and for a Projection user, the loss of his own physical body” Amelia copied her words on the paper, without realizing, she hadn’t mentioned hypnotism. ”and Hypnotism?” To this the woman paused before answering ”blood, it is common to have your body bleed, specifically your eyes and mouth, which are used to hypnotize…though the general, most common form would be the desire to cast more and more…” Amelia copied, and copied, but failed to catch the last sentence ”could you repeat the last part?”” …most common form would be the desire to cast more and more…”

This was all gold to Amelia. As much as she was terrified of the images that came vividly to her mind, she was eager to know more, more of what she could find out from the woman. ”there must be more, please , do tell” the woman just nodded before she began explaining ”Well, to be all detailed, there are 3 types of overgiving, the most common would be the first or the lesser, Mild overgiving, the type that can be healed with rest, a good meal and occasionally, if needed, medical assistance” she explained while Amelia wrote down ”there are 3 types of overgiving, the most common being Mild Overgiving, which can be healed by rest, a meal and medical assistance (if required)” The woman looked at how Amelia wrote everything down, and continued speaking on as she had finished the sentence ”The group which goes under it, would be A desire to cast more and more, hallucinations, sweet whispers, difficulty to cast spells, blood shut eyes, occasionally it could be anti-social behavior” quite the mouthful, but Amelia managed to catch everything. Though the concept of sweet whispering was odd.

”what is ‘Sweet Whispers’” Amelia asked, and the woman just smirked ”I’d say, any woman is a form of sweet whispers. But, in the magical society, it’s a term to explain hallucinations and suggestions done by your mind, that push you further and further into harming others, casting more or even harming yourself. Generally, not a good thing” she added as a small comment, not that it was necessary, Amelia had enough mind to realize that these whispers were nothing good.

”the next type would be Medium Overgiving, it holds a high chance of uncontrollable spells and castings, Bleeding that could be bout external and internal, Wounds if your chosen discipline is something like Reimancy…delirium and high levels of pain” Amelia wrote all of this, with a bit of shivers down her spine, her imagination was good and she could almost feel the pain these people could experience, once falling under the effects of these things. ”needless to say, this is a category that almost always requires medical assistance, possibly even a healer”

And now, was the time to explain the last group ”Sevres overgiving, is the highest form of overgiving, it has effects like insanity, loss of physical body, loss of consciousness, heavy bleeding, mutation and possibly death” the last word was like a bucket of water falling over Amelia. She knew it was dangerous, Clyde had explained that magic could kill, but she had missed the part of when overgiving, caused death by itself… ”what can a wizard do, to avoid the…to avoid overgiving in general?””use common sense, A mage should avoid using his powers as much as they can, as irresponsible usage leads not only to overuse, but a high risk of assassination” the woman explained, Amelia was sure to have her go now, but no, she stayed ”A reimancer should know these things, or are you not that interested in that form of study?” ”I was just recently initiated…” Amelia wondered, how could it be that this woman could tell, but she chose not to question, about that.

”You mentioned some other forms of magic, Morphing, Auristics and Projection…what are they?” ”Well, Morphing is the art that allows you to use your Djed, to change the form of your body, it could be a different human model you have researched, or an animal, for example, let you morph claws of change the shape of your nose…Auristics, just like it sounds, lets you read auras of people and objects to learn about them, a rather harmless form of personal magic to know, that can be quite usefull… Projection, is a risky discipline, you can learn to divide your astral body from your physical, use telekinesis and do a list of nifty things...but I wouldn't suggest you get into that this soon, leave it for latter, learn the basics and how your djed works”

”mmm…a few more questions, like…what would be some complimentary knowledge’s that would help with hypnotism?” Amelia wrote down ”skills that are need to improve the performance of Hypnotism” and waited until she could start listing it down ”That’s quite simple, any knowledge to understand the way a person thinks, learning psychology and analysis is golden, persuasion, interrogation, rhetoric and possibly even seduction helps, depending on what you are trying to do” the list was now complete. Amelia could head away and start reading something else, something, deeper in it.

”Are you already initiated to hypnotism? Or are your studies just theoretical so far?” the word ‘initiation’ was probably something Amelia didn’t wish to hear so much. Then again, if it was needed in order to use the discipline, it would probably be worth moving…and performing ”no, I’m not…””It’s one of the most…friendly forms of initiation, it takes a long series of meditation, in front of a mirror, until it all becomes black, meaningless…””black and meaningless?””that’s just the best way to explain it, the feeling is out of this world and you know how it feels only when you are done…” and with this, the woman stood up from the desk and left, wishing Amelia a good study session.
