2nd Summer 513
The Suren Cliffs
Around the 10th Bell

People had been speaking about jumping off of rocks in the water. Apparently, that was one of the things to do in Wind Reach! So, Eilea, ALWAYS up for a challenge, decided to make her way up towards these so-called “cliffs”, to take a look for herself.

Not everyone jumps, right? She thought to herself as she climbed along the side of the mountain, overlooking one of the twin lakes. The flowers that decorated the rocks made her mind wander. The colors reminded her of the Vantha's ever-changing eyes. But the flower's tones seemed to change depending on where they were. Eilea figured it had to do with the sun.

Dressed lightly, in very little, because of the summer heat, the Vantha turned her head to look out at the water. The reflections were beautiful, almost like paintings she had seen from back home, by the people who had traveled or even some imaginative ones! The Vantha continued to climbing, carefully, trusting her own ability and pulled herself over one of the rocky ledges. It wasn't too far from the water's edge, but enough to give Eilea a chill of excitement every time she looked over the edge.

“Goodness, is the water even deep enough over here?” She asked to herself, as she looked down, inching towards the edge every time she could. In her mind, she couldn't believe that anyone would take a jump into the water, from any height. Eilea stepped back. “Well, if they can do it, I bet I can too.” With a nod of agreement to herself, the Vantha took a few steps backwards. “I can do this!” With that, she took a couple strides forward, before throwing herself off of the ledge, and into the water below!

Valdr enjoyed the the feeling of weightlessness that swimming in the water gave him "This must be what flying feels like" He thought to himself, not for the first time. With a few strong kicks, He gracefully cut through the water, diving until he was completely submerged, relaxing in this brief moment between bendi's.

The splash startled Valdr, who inadvertently released all the air he had been holding. Coming up for air, Valdr glances around to see who it was that had made it.

Shaky Jumps

The twin lakes were among Anias' favorite fishing spots. He hadn't seen many other fishermen for a while but there seemed to be a recent trend among the local youths to go cliff diving. He hadn't had a bite, of neither the bait nor of actual fish himself, in a while and he was tired of eating pigeon, hare and whatever other woodland protein he could trap. Besides, growing up on the ocean had made cooked fish his favorite dish of them all.

"Scarin' all the fishes!" he yelled out at the swimmers across the lake. This is why he preferred the wilderness, it was just man, tree and beast. Fun was usually tied to productivity, such as a a good hunt. Cliff diving and spooking the trout was the work of those who did not respect the wilderness, he thought.

"They come from breakfast, scare away my lunch, and go back to their cozy homes and eat their lunches," he said to himself.

"May the fury of Makutsi drown them all!" he called out again before biting into a piece of hard bread and throwing it in the lake.

A sharp jerk on his fishing rod tugged his body forward, lodging the piece of bread in his windpipe. Now Anias was caught in a battle for his life and for a trout. He attempted to cough out the piece and pull on the rod at the same time, succeeding at neither. Finally, in a large, horse cough, the stale bread went flying from his mouth and the fishing line had snapped.

"Damnit!"

Shaky Jumps

Growing up in Avanthal, a place where there was more ice than air, the Vantha had never really been cliff diving before. Or even swimming in a "large" body of water. Her "I-can-do-anything" mindset had taken charge when she made the jump, so when she actually landed in the water a shock of panic ignited in her chest.

The girl opened her eyes and began flailing her arms under the water. For a brief moment she thought she wouldn't survive. She kicked her feet, propelling her legs to move, and pushed her head above the water level. With a gasp of air, she found herself being pulled back under by a small wave. She fought her way to the top again and put an extreme amount of force in her arm's movements trying to stay above the water. Eilea spit a couple times, coughing as she did.

It was then that she noticed there was a boy in the water, swimming alone and looking in her direction. Momentarily Eilea forgot to keep moving and found herself under water again. Luckily, she was able to bring herself back up once again. Note to self: Don't kill yourself in an attempt to fly. She smiled at her own thoughts, but continued struggling to swim, gracefully at least. "Hello!" She said speaking Nari, spitting out water as she did. "I hope I didn't surprise you!" Her eyes shifted from a nervous induced gray to a more green, relaxed tone. It was obvious that she was getting more comfortable in the lake's water.

A surprise shout from across the lake drew her attention. She turned her head and noticed there was another man who looked like he was fishing. Fishing? She wrinkled her nose as another small wave hit her in the face. And then she found herself under the water once again. Another rush of panic!

"Oh my Morwen!" She exclaimed in Vani coughing up more water. And as if she wasn't stubborn enough, "Hey, hey... hey!" She splashed around a bit. "Want to jump off the rocks with me?" She asked the other swimmer, before finding herself under the surface of the water again.

Shaky Jumps

Glancing around, at first Valdr saw nothing but the soft rolling waves made by the splash. It must have been some falling rocks or something, he thought to himself. As he was about to turn, he heard a second splash, and some gasping. What he saw left him awestruck.

Outlined in a golden aura as the sun’s rays casted their light, from the water emerged a strange yet striking sight. With dark hair and pale skin, a girl that he had only sparingly seen around the city came up from under the water. Time seemed to slow as she came up for air, her panicked movements lost completely on Valdr.

The sight momentarily stunned him, it being so unexpected and his reaction to it also without precedent. She shouted something to him, however it he failed to catch it, caught up as he was in admiring her. Shaking his head to recover from his momentary lapse of the senses, Valdr hears an angry shout coming from the shore while at the same time another shout from the girl in front of him. “Want to jump off the rocks with me?” she said, and in response he swam over towards her until he was only about three feet away from her.

“Sure! I’m Valdr” he said in with a small whimsical smile, all in Nari
