The Diamond of Kalea is located on Kalea's extreme west coast and called as such because its completely made of a crystalline substance called Skyglass. Home of the Alvina of the Stars, cultural mecca of knowledge seekers, and rife with Ethaefal, this remote city shimmers with its own unique light.

Goodbye, My Home.

54th: Spring: 513 A.V.
"I really shouldn't do this," Liriah mumbled while securing a scythe to her back, "I can't leave you guys out here by yourselves, what if a hunter with insidious motives start shooting all of y-AGHH!?"

Shielding herself from Luma's tackle, Liriah laughed despite herself, her heart radiant with the concern of her feathered and furry friends.
She had only awoken 7 years ago after falling into a hibernation of sorts, sometime during Winter, 500 A.V., and found her urge to travel Kalea stronger than ever whilst Neroll was perched on her face, glaring at her with those disapproving eagle eyes of hers, a large retinue of Misty Peaks' wild inhabitants greeting her sight when she finally managed to pry Luma off her. There was even a bear in her house, waiting for her decade long slumber to end.
Although the urge to travel was literally nagging at her, albeit in the form of Luma, she stayed in her cottage; there simply wasn't enough preparation for such a long and treacherous journey, her social skills weren't polished enough for her to survive amongst Them, they'd die from boredom! Luma wouldn't take no for an answer, however, going off in the day only to return at night, clutching multiple volumes of Learning to Socialise: A Guide on Interaction for Brutes that Liriah swears came from some poor librarian, and so began her rigorous tutelage under Luma's tentative eyes.
Now that she's ready to interact with other Mizaharians, Liriah was........eager to stock up on her supplies in Lhavit, taking in the city she watched grow as the civilians bustled about on their daily routines.

With Luma trodding ahead of her, on the alert for any danger, and her retinue and only family seeing her off from the entrance of her cottage, Liriah set off down her little mountain slope, towards the journey that awaits.

A Warm Farewell

Postby Liriah on June 8th, 2013, 5:21 pm

Whilst traversing the gentle slope, weaving in and out of the trees and happily contemplating on how graceful the green canopy towering above her was, Liriah collected wild herbs, mint, nuts and berries growing near the natural path, the recipe for her next baked goods on her mind and the essentials needed for survival running through her mind like a druken eagle in flight, not that she's ever seen one drunk before.

Her reverie and chain of thought finally broken by Luma's incessant howling and huffing, Luma turned back to see what Luma was so obviously distressed about.
Licking an unknown object out of her sight, in the shadow's of a tree, Liriah drew closer to Luma. Now close enough to notice Luma's snout was stained with a red substance which was unmistakably blood, she covered the remaining distance in moments, falling to her knees besides Luma.
What greeted her sight spurred her into action; tearing apart her backpack in urgency, taking out her eating knife and a handful of wild herbs, she pushed the herbs into her mouth, making herself a mental note to buy a mortar and pestle when she got to Lhavit, and tore a strip of fabric from her dress. Dashing her slashed palm across the fabric before spreading the poultice on the weeping wound before her, Liriah dressed the wound as best as she could with her limited supplies, sealing the bandage off with the juice of the wild berries and a few more drops of her blood.

Landing back on the soft soil, Liriah exhaled, realizing that she was holding her breath during the proceedings.
Reassuring Luma that everything was fine now with a ruffle of his fur, Liriah returned her gaze back to the injured figure, appraising her own handiwork, and looked up to see who, or what, she has just possibly saved from death via infection and blood loss.

"As cute and sweet as ever, Liriah," the figure rumbled, his voice rich with affection "it's nice to know you kept the backpack."

Jumping backwards with surprise, realization dawned on Liriah, breaking her face into a smile. She leaped into his awaiting arms, hugging him tight enough to kill a grizzly bear.

"Brother!"

A Warm Farewell

Postby Liriah on June 9th, 2013, 5:04 am

"Don't glare at him like that, Luma," Liriah chided her canine guardian "he kept his promise to visit again, afterall."

Ignoring Liriah, the wolf-like dog continued to glare at the male Ethaefal, accusation searing in his eyes, a silent conversation passing between the two as their eyes made contact.
With a sigh of defeat, Liriah turned to face her brother, breaking the silent conversation, and began to ask him of his venture around Kalea; who did he meet, what did he eat, were the cities nice, did he bring anymore gifts for her?
Laughing at her uncharacteristic hyperactivity, the man pried her off his chest, taking care not to touch the dressing above his sternum. The careful movements weren't lost on her, however.

"Oh. I forgot you're injured," embarrassment flushing her cheeks "sorry."

Dismissing his sister's apology with a wave of his hand, Liriah's brother moved the conversation to her backpack, genuine interest audible as he asked her where she was going. The last time she left the woods for any place other than Lhavit was over 200 years ago, and that venture didn't end very well if his memory proved to be correct.

The sun was already making it's decent by the time Liriah finished updating her brother on her daily life. Realizing that she shouldn't leave him out in the woods at night, Liriah assigned Neroll to take him back to the cottage, knowing that if she was to return to the cottage, another decade would pass before she can gather enough courage to leave again. There he will be cared for by her companions in her absence.
Obliging with reluctance, Luma supported the man on his back and set off towards the stone cottage, a final farewell passing between the siblings before Liriah continued her journey to Lhavit. Driven by her desire to arrive before nightfall, she completely forgot about her unanswered questions.

A Warm Farewell

Postby Liriah on June 9th, 2013, 9:22 am

"We're finally out of the woods. Luma." Liriah managed between gasps "Isn't that great?"

Looking to her side, hoping to celebrate her arrival in Lhavit with her companion, Liriah was dumbfounded. Luma wasn't beside her anymore.
Panicking, Liriah began to backtrack her path, hoping, no, reassuring herself that nothing befell her earthbound, four-legged friend, having completely forgotten she had sent him back home.
On a whim, Liriah turned back, towards the woods, only to be greeted by a flying Luma. Barreling down the mountain, Luma in her arms, Liriah didn't have time to register the gathering of bystanders who have just witnessed one of the oddest things to ever happen outside Hachia Koat's shack, her brain too addled up by the rolling and tumbling to think about anything but saving her neck, before the sun completely set.

The shifting between her mortal seeming and Ethaefal form was anything but subtle. Resonating from her soul, an opalescent light engulfed her body in a cocoon of moonshine, pooled in between her shoulderblades, erupting outwards in the semblance of wings only to shatter into glowing dust.
Now everyone knew she was an Ethaefal. Possibly the clumsiest that ever existed, but undoubtedly clumsiest they have seen.

"Please tell me that was a great debut," Liriah whispered to her two companions "because I feel like a fool right now and will you STOP moving away!?"

Her first day, night really, in Lhavit has only began.
In the darkness, Light grows stronger. Will you allow it to grow or will you succumb to despair?

Liriah

XP:
Running +2
Socialization +1
Medicine +1

Lore:
Lhavit, the City of the Stars
Ethaefal, the Were-Race

Notes: This was definitely a good first attempt at a solo (assuming this was your first.) I have just a couple of observations for the future. First, Ethaefal generally do not having siblings. Not biological siblings, anyway. If it is just another Ethaefal that Liriah's bonded with, that's fine. It just struck me as a tad confusing. Also, I couldn't really award a lot here because it was lacking in detail. The more you describe how Liriah patched up Luma or what nuts and berries she harvested, the more XP I can award. :) Same for lore! Had you given detail on what her brother had said, I could have awarded lore for it. The devil is in the details!

and so, the journey continues...
