Fed from a cold, pure fresh water stream of water, Haven's Slides create a great place to play and swim in
The Indelible Haven in Thunder Bay. Several large boulder mounds merged together by the stream's force. Due to years and years of water moving over large boulders, their surface was worn down to the point that even when dry, the rocks are smooth and extremely slippery.
The surprisingly deep pool of water that the water flows into is much warmer that the cold stream. It is a mix of salty and fresh water and is home to many beautiful fish and lizards. At it's known deepest point is about 18 feet down. Because the water is so clean and protected, one can see the whole depth on a clear sunny day.
The force of the water varies depending on the time of the day. Morning allows for a calmer speed of water, while late afternoon provides an extremely fast movement of water. During nighttime hours, very little water flows over the rocks, but because the smooth rocks are so slippery, they can still be used as a slide.
When the steam's flow of water was discovered, young Inarta used to dare each other to take a slide down the smooth, silky rocks. After several years, it became a fun place to play for people of all ages.
One can not climb up the smooth boulders from the water because of how slick the stone is. To get to the top of the slides, walking along the grassy areas is the safest and easiest way. At any area of the stream, one can enter the slide. The smooth stone starts about 60 feet from the cove's edge, and is about 20 feet above water level. Depending on the time of day, taking the slide's full route only lasts a few ticks before sending one into the water.
