The wolves began their assault. One by one, five wolves emerged from the shadows of the forest. Kouri rose from her comfortable resting position, ready to fight. Vladimir on the other hand was prepping his utility bracer, both his spring blade and needle launcher were both armed and coated with bloodroot poison. If this poison entered the body, the victim would succumb to mild confusion and physical weakness. Vladimir still held one of Kouri’s daggers, also laced with poison. However, Kouri was still unaware of this fact.

The five wolves rushed out towards their prey, growling in an attempt to intimidate both Kouri and Vladimir. However, three wolves bite the cold harsh steel as Kouri launched her three daggers into three wolves, each dagger piercing the eyes. “Good job, White Angel!” Vladimir cheered, holding a somewhat off combat position. Due to Vladimir’s inexperience, Vladimir held an ungraceful post, gripping the dagger with two hands instead of the usual one.

Three wolves were down. However, the remaining two were on their way to Vladimir. “Not good, not good!” Vladimir said with his body frozen in position. Vladimir wanted to run, but his legs wouldn’t move. He wanted to fight or fend himself, but his arms are frozen. The sound of Kouri’s voice of desperation pierced his mind. A wolf was going to attack him from the front and a wolf was going to flank him from the side. Vladimir could feel Dira looming over him, ready to claim his lost soul. “Petch…” Vladimir uttered out, looking at both of the wolves.

Vladimir wasn’t going to go down without out a fight, so Vladimir attempted to display a threating combat pose. However, it his stance was completely off. Before long the wolf that was going to flank him got too close and leapt in the air, ready to claim its kill...

============
Daddy, why do you stick with mummy all the time?

Hahah, well you see son. You’re mother she’s a bit brash sometimes and gets herself hurt. I have to watch over her to make sure she’s okay, and fix her injuries.

But what about you daddy? Mummy said that she watches over you too. Are you brash as well?

Hahah, no son. All though your mother seems to think so. Like her, I too need to be looked after. We are a team after all, like the mind and body. We protect each other. The mind helps the body by repairing the body, and the body keeps the mind protected from harm. If one of us gets injured, we both get injured.

But daddy, what happens if one of you dies?

Well, my son, The body can’t live without the mind, nor can the mind live without the body. When on perishes the other will soon follows.
========================

The sound of Kouri screaming pierced Vladimir’s ears. Her banshee-like voice was like a blessing with a curse. The wolf that was about to attack him from the front was stunned but Kouri’s scream. This was Vladimir’s opportunity to strike.

As the wolf whimpered from Kouri’s shrill voice, Vladimir charged held the dagger over his head, gripping it with both hands like a primitive savage. “AARRRRGGGHHHH!!” Vladimir screamed and he thrust the dagger down, into the skull of the stunned wolf. The sound of bone crunching was audible, and was somewhat appealing to Vladimir. However, the sound of Kouri’s voice in pain was still heard. Vladimir turned his hear towards the wolf how had pinned down Vladimir’s White Angel. “WHITE ANGEL!!” Vladimir yelled, trying to pull the dagger out of the wolf’s skull. With a bit of effort he managed to rip out the dagger.

Vladimir began running towards the wolf, with his savage-like stance. Vladimir trust down the dagger, but it landed on the wolf’s side. The wolf whimpered and backed of Kouri, taking the dagger along with it. The wolf then turned its direction to Vladimir, snarling and beared its teeth. However, the wolf began limping abnormally, struggling to keep itself upright. Its legs quivered and soon collapsed. Within the wolf’s body, the dagger was lodged in its side, near the heart. The poison from the blade seeped into the wolf’s veins and was pumped around the body; into the brain, heart and muscles.

With the wolf on the ground, Vladimir walked up to the wolf and pulled the dagger from its side. The wolf looked in pain as it struggled to move and lick its wound. Vladimir looked over at Kouri, who was still in pain then looked back at the wolf. He crouched down to the wold hand grabbed it’s snout, keeping its mouth shut. “Look what you have done to my White Angel. And you know what, I don’t want to see the colour of your blood. I know what it looks like. However… I do want to see your inside!” Vladimir said, intoxicated with madness.

Vladimir stabbed the wolf in the stomach and dragged down the knife, creating an open hole. Vladimir then shoved his hand inside the wolf, and reached for the wolf’s heart. Vladimir could feel its heart beating fast. Vladimir wrapped his fingers around the heart of the wolf. For each second Vladimir’s hand was inside the wolf, the wolf would howl louder in pain, but its howls were muffled but Vladimir’s hands. “This is what it feels like to have your heart ripped out…

With all five wolves dead, Vladimir walked over to Kouri, picking her up and resting her on his lap. Vladimir could feel her sucking up his warm body heat as well as the bold of the wolves, but he didn’t mind. Kouri looked more transparent than usual. Vladimir didn’t know how to treat a ghost, nor does he know if such treatment exists. However, Vladimir is willing to try to help his new friend. “White angel, are you okay?” Vladimir asked.

Unbeknownst to Vladimir two more wolves stalked the forest, a large alpha, and a strong beta. The seemed to be slightly more intelligent than the previous wolfs, they employed stealth and strategy. Their strategy was letting the omega wolves attack to weaken the prey, and then strike when the prey is at its weakest. The beta wolf and the Alpha wolf slowly some out of the shadows. The beta came from the front and the alpha came from behind. Vladimir could only see the beta wolf.

Holding Kouri in his arm, Vladimir raised his unoccupied arm, holding the utility bracer and aimed it towards the beta wolf. Vladimir had previously armed the needle launcher with a poison coated needed, and was ready to use it on the wolf. However, it’s range wasn’t too great so Vladimir waited for the wolf to come into range.

"GRRRRR!!! GAAAAH!!!" Kouri closed her eyes, the thought of unmaterializing herself came to her mind and she was about to do that when... Doc Vlad came charging and stabbed the wolf on its side. Kouri's gaze was fixated when the wolf backed away from her and was about to strike when it suddenly went limp, falling to the ground.

Kouri's mind didn't try to register on what exactly happened, she just kept staring in awe at Vladimir's display of beautiful violence. He actually used his knowledge of an animal's anatomy to finish it off in a unusual, but glorious manner. How many warriors actually rip out their enemy's heart right in the middle of the battlefield, in front of their eyes, and while the enemy was till alive?

Kouri's neck had swirling spots of black mist where the wolf's sharp fangs punctured her, it was starting to automatically regenerate itself. She lay her head on the ground and sighed in relief, it was over; at least her sacrifice was not for naught. She mentally slapped herself for failing to unmaterialize before the wolf bit her.

"Fueh?" Kouri moaned when she felt her small body lifted up and... warmth suddenly washed over her. Vladimir was resting her on his lap. "Uuuh..." Kouri moaned and instinctively wrapped her small body on Vlad, relishing in his warmth. The swirls on her neck was a testament to her pain, Kouri slowly nodded; reassuring Vlad that she was okay.

"!?" Her eyes suddenly shot up when she heard more barking and footsteps around them. Just as she suspected, there was indeed more wolves... Kouri unmaterailized herself and shifted her position so she was now sitting on Vlad's lap and pulled all of her daggers to her right index finger, shaping them back into a chakram.

She looked all around them and spotted the alpha wolf charging from behind as well. These animals were foolish but persistent, Kouri could give them that. She huffed and separated the daggers into two groups, each made of two daggers. She launched the first two daggers to the beta wolf approaching from the front and quickly maneuvered the other two behind Vlad, aiming from the alpha.

Due to her pain, Kouri's aim wasn't as accurate and the first dagger missed; the second one stabbed the beta on her right leg though, the force of the launch sent it tumbling down to the ground. Seeing it was immobilized for the moment, Kouri phased through Vlad and faced the alpha wolf.

Kouri learnt from her mistake and didn't throw the daggers this time, she used her slashing techniques, The alpha was forced to stop its charge and focused on evading these two flying weapons instead. The alpha wolf was quite strong and agile so it managed to evade a few strikes, some got him good in the body, snout, and legs though. Also, the daggers had been coated in poison and it was starting to have its effect; its movements became slow and its breathing erratic. Kouri took the moment by stabbing the alpha on each side of its body, fatally wounding it. It fell down to the ground, not dead yet but soon would be.

"Huff... haa..." Kouri then released her hold on her daggers and lay down on the ground, focusing herself to ignore the pain and regenerating her soulmist. She tilted her head to see what Vlad would do with the immobilized beta wolf.

Vladimir observed Kouri’s neck; he noticed various holes in her neck. Each hole spiralled around in a circle, slowly closing up the savingly made wounds. Ghosts are sure interesting, Vladimir thought as he watched Kouri’s injury. As Kouri nodded to reassure Vladimir, a fiendish smile returned on to Vladimir’s face as sign of relief.

However, as the beta wolf closed in on Vladimir, Kouri popped up and became untouchable. She raised her index finger in the air and her daggers snapped into her favourite weapon. “What’s going on, White Angel?” Vladimir said, keeping his sight on beta wolf that was still advancing towards Vladimir.

From behind Vladimir could he a wolf crying in pain, so he assumed that Kouri had spotted a wolf coming from behind and attempted to stop it with violence. Vladimir returned his focus to the beta wolf and fired his needle when the wolf was close enough. Using his middle finger and the movement of his wrist, Vladimir activated the needle launcher and fire its projectile was speed. Vladimir hoped to hit the wolf in the neck, so that the poison would take effect quickly. However, his aim was quite off, hitting the wolf in the upper part of its leg. “Petch, this isn’t good!”

The wolf closed in, and Vladimir was out of options. Kouri looked somewhat busy with the wolf behind him and from the sound of it, her wounds was affecting her combat. The wolf got closer and closer. Vladimir had no Idea what to do. The wolf barked as is beared its teeth. Vladimir looked around to find a make shift weapon. The wolf was just in leaping distance. Suddenly, Vladimir remembered that his utility bracer held another secret…

The wolf leapt in the air in an attempt to push Vladimir down to the ground and pin him. As the wolf was in mid-flight, Vladimir felt the world slowdown. His arm raised on its own and preformed various moments. The movement activated his bracer, and a blade popped out of the underside of his wrist. The blade extended a fair distance. As the wolf made contact with Vladimir, Kouri phase through the wolf. The wolf pinned down Vladimir. However, in return it got a length blade into the side of its neck.

The wolf gave out a yelp of pain, as did Vladimir who had his upper arm bitten. From the wolf’s neck, blood dripped down. Mixed in with the blood was transparent ooze that dripped along with the blood. Vladimir’s last resort weapon was a spring blade coated in poison.

The wolf slowly collapsed from physical exhaustion, and was soon after thrown off of Vladimir's body. Vladimir looked at his wound, it look just like Kouri’s however drenched in blood. “Keh heh heh … urh…” Vladimir chuckled in pain. “Keh heh heh, I guess it’s true” Vladimir said as he removed his medical pack to dress his wound. “If one comrade gets hurt so does the other.” He continued.

Vladimir undid a part of his robe and pulled down his a bit of his clothe to expose his wound. His body is riddled was scars from self-inflicted wounds from his crazy research. Vladimir poured water over his wound and allowed the blood to keep bleeding, so that ‘bad’ blood wouldn’t stay in his body. Soon after, Vladimir rubbed a herb on his wound that he believed would sterilise the wound from ‘bad air’. After that Vladimir wrapped a bandage around his upper arm, sealing the wound.

After dressing his wound he covered up and returned his gaze to Kouri. Vladimir clothes were drenched in blood and so was Kouri’s. Vladimir knew he couldn’t return to the city in the way he was looked, so he planned to wash himself in a stream of water before going home. Vladimir flopped onto the ground in a pool of blood and gave out a hearty laugh the slowly transformed into a creepy maniacal cackle.

“Oh, White Angel. Today was simply astonishing.” Vladimir said, laying in a pool of wolf’s blood. “First I met you and then I was attacked by wolves. Kah hah hah hah!” Vladimir laughed.

OOCI think this my last post for the thread, Vlad. :)

Feel free to reply or just post it for grading. :D

But of course, if you want to continue, we can do that as well.

"!?" Kouri didn't have time to scream when the beta wolf recovered and launched itself after Vlad, fangs and claws aiming to butcher the doctor. She clenched her right fist, commanding the two daggers lodged on the alpha's dead body to rip themselves and positioned them to launch themselves to the beta wolf, but she hesitated. Vlad was in the daggers' way, she ran the risk of hitting the doctor especially with her impaired accuracy.

Another idea came to her mind, the previous steel dagger was still stabbed to the beta wolf's leg but... if she rip it away now, she was also afraid of accidentally slashing Vlad. All in all, she had to find some other way. However... in all happened too fast, so fast that when she grabbed hold of the situation; Vladimir and the wolf was wrestling on the ground "Doctor!!" She screamed when she saw the wolf bit Vlad's upper arm.

"D-doctor!" Kouri groaned in pain as she shifted to a standing position. What happened next filled her with relief, Vlad pushed the limp beta wolf off his body; the wolf was obviously dead with a stab wound on its neck. Vlad himself was wounded, but hopefully it was not fatal.

"Ehe.... ehehehe..." Kouri giggled, both in relief and amusement. Even after being bitten by a wolf, the good doctor still managed to let out a chuckle or two. His medical expertise truly came in handy as he began treating himself. "Well... I'm just glad that you're alright..." Kouri rubbed her own neck, she could feel the soulmist slowly repairing themselves. She released her hold on the two daggers and sat down on the ground, focusing on recuperating herself "I'm just going to sit here until I recover... then I will collect my daggers and go home, Doctor"

"Ahaha~ I agree, Doctor. It was exciting and thrilling! Ehehehehahaha!" The tense atmosphere turned to sweet sweet victory, both the doctor and the little ghost girl triumphed over a pack of wolves today.
