She was gone so quickly, Niloc couldn't even speak. He thought to himself, would he have said anything given the chance? He tried before, to tell her he could be trusted. That was hard to do, to speak to them like that, and it seemingly went unnoticed and unappreciated.
He slouched onto the ground next to a nearby building. Trying to come to terms with this up-and-down emotional day. He wanted so badly to travel with people he could call friends. He felt awful for the way Silarial left. In a way, she was not at all unlike himself. She seemed uncomfortable for some reason, and he hoped it wasn't his fault. Is that what he looked like the times when he tried to leave earlier? He thought of running after her, but she was clearly troubled by something. He would only continue to make things worse.
Letting out a sigh, he looked from his sitting position up to Lucy. He still wanted to go with her. She seemed so optimistic, he just hoped she wouldn't mind his company. He spoke quietly, "You don't think it was partially me was it? She seemed troubled when you mentioned me coming with you..." His voice trailed off again. He couldn't help dwelling on the last time he spoke. It was so hard for him to say all of what he said to them. And it didn't help in the slightest. She had left without acknowledging a thing he said. Another deep breath. "Look Lucy...I really want to go with you. I don't have...have anywhere else to be...but I understand if you don't really want me along either...you wanted to be an actor, with her...I can't...I can't do that...but I still want to go."
He spoke to Lucy without confidence. He could barely keep eye contact. His biggest worry was that she only invited him out of politeness. That she really only wanted to go with Silarial. But despite this, he wanted nothing more for her to prove him wrong, to say that she still wanted to travel with him. He didn't want to believe that she would only want to go with someone who could be an actor. But he said it anyway. It would crush him if she really didn't want to go with him. She was cheerful, optimistic, and certainly beautiful. He couldn't find the guts to say it out loud, but he thought...no, he knew, that he needed someone like her to be able to finally be confident in himself, to feel like he had a purpose.
