- 9th bell - The Welcome Home
It was the morning in Syliras and Alex had just woken up. Because Alex is very groggy in the morning, he has a bit of string that guide him around his room in the welcome home, an orphanage where he lived after his mother died. Holding the lengthy bit of string in a loop mad with his finger, Alex followed the string that guided him to his clothing that rested on a wooden table. Alex then changed from his sleepwear to his casual attire. A bit of brown cloth rested on the table as well, but the bit of cloth was clothing. It was a bed for a bird that yearns to fly. Nestled in on the folded bit of cloth, the small falcon continued sleeping.
“Lulu, I’ll bring you a bit of my meal. So stay here, okay?” Alex said, putting on his clothing and slabbing his face to face himself up.
The young falcon didn’t say anything, because it was a bird, and Alex mad his way out the door. Because Alex was use to the orphanage, he effortlessly made his way down the flight of stairs with the help of his mental map. The sound of wooden bowls and children talking filled Alex’s ears as he made his way into the kitchen. Alex walked over to a cabinet and opened the doors, then began careful touched each dish, using his fingertips. He used his auristics to figure out which dish was wooden and which weren’t. However, a light tap on his should followed by a kind woman’s voice turned him around and placed a bowl in his hands.
“Are you half a sleep?” said the woman, giving out a friendly laughter. The woman was named Aenysa, she was the current caretaker of the welcoming home.
“Yeah, I guess you could say that. Why do you ask, Aenysa?” Alex said as he looked vaguely in her direction with unfocused eyes.
“You were looking in the cup drawer again…” She said as she got Alex a spoon and some food.
“Oh was I…? I.. Uh… knew that. I was thirsty!” alex said, trying to cover up his mistake.
“Hahah, don’t worry. Here, It’s not much but I’m sure it will fill you up.” She said as she plopped some sort of warm goo-like mixture in his bowl and handed him a spoon. From the smell of the mysterious mixture, Alex gave Aenysa a smile as he wondered off to the dining room.
“oh boy… oatmeal…”
- 10th bell
“I’m going out for a while” called Alex as he took a step out of the orphanage. With Aenysa’s okay, Alex wonder out into the open world of Syliras. As Alex wandered the familiar areas with his eyes closed, Tallulah was sitting on his backpack, looking at the various people who walk by, and every now and then she would give a small shriek.
“Not too loud now, Lulu. You’ll disturb other if your keep yelling.” Alex said as walked along the streets of Syliras.
Alex was use to the city and knows where he is, so long as he as an anchor point set and doesn’t lose track of it in his mind. As he walked, nearing a destination he wanted to go to, he listened to the various people around him talking about him. They weren’t saying anything that would hurt Alex’s feeling, but the thought of people talking about him gave him a sense of nervousness and he hurried as fast as he could to his destination.
Alex soon reached his destination, The Great Harbour. The sound of the rolling waves and gulls slowly filled his hearing. The waves sounded tranquil and the gulls added to the atmosphere. If Alex could see, he would be certain that the ocean looked marvellous. Alex opened his cloudy brown eyes and looked out into the ocean. He knew that all he would see would be darkness, be he tried to imagine, through sound, what the ocean and the world would look like.
After gazing out in the direction of the ocean for a good chime or two, Alex turned around and walked back. However, he bumped into a person and he was knocked onto the ground. Tallulah screeched as she too fell on the floor. However, she had a soft landing place, Alex’s backpack.
“Uh… sorry about that…” Alex said, looking vaguely where he assumed was the person he ran into. Dusting himself off, Alex rose from the ground and checked if Tallulah was still on his bag.
“Sorry, again… I wasn’t watching where I was going.” Alex said, closing his eyes once again to hide his unnerving eyes.
