Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

oocSorry for taking so long on this...

The two Drykas conversed in their own language; Eleret waited patiently, though she understood no word of it... nor any gesture, which as she watched, she thought must carry at least as much meaning as the words they spoke. More so than gesticulations she had seen in Zeltiva or Mura, at any rate. It was curious, but a curiosity for later.

"No, I did not know," she said, after Delani's remarks; a Konti among the Drykas? Also curious! And... also something they might speak more on later, particularly as Delani went on to raise bunking arrangements. "I do not have a bunkmate yet. If you want to share, it is good to me." She would have all manner of opportunity to ask after that Konti cousin. Then the Drykas woman went on to ask about Zeltiva and the region border, which the Konti found an odd change of subject indeed. Eleret's blank look at her inquiry likely provided answer enough, though she gave a verbal response as well. "I was in Zeltiva before here. But I did not cross the border -- I came from Syliras in the ship." She frowned faintly, then continued, "When I left Zeltiva, most talking was about the Denvali Quarter, in city."

Brodon stepped in then with his own redirection of the conversation, and Eleret couldn't help but smile with good-natured sympathy at his discomfiture. "It is not... the first language for me, either," she replied. "I would say, do not worry for mistakes, but that is not easy. It is practice, practice will help you; I am happy to do also if you want."

"Of course, Brodon, it would be my pleasure. All the more reason to converse as such in the future; it's felt ages since I've had communion with another Drykas." That shadow befell her gaze again, but it was short lived as she slipped quickly into Common for Eleret's sake.

"Ah, yes, wonderful! It has been some time since I've shared with one of Mura's dwellers, I truly look forward to the opportunity, lass." When the young woman spoke of Zeltiva, Delani shook her head. The clans had only mentioned raiding at the border, not a stretch across the region into the coastal cities. That would have been a call for outright war, something the Drykas could ill afford to wage against the realm known for its knights.

OOCUgh I'm so sorry guys, I've been struggling for inspiration in writing on Delani lately. The posts may be short for now until I find my muse for her again...I know I left it around here somewhere...

[Atri's Place-Garden] Relax, it's just a question

Postby Brodon Windriver on August 24th, 2013, 8:19 am

"That would be splendid!" Brodon clapped, reverting back to Pavi. "I'm unsure if Jared is still wishing to depart with the expedition, and Abase doesn't have much better skills in common than I."

He resumed his slow common, turning to Eleret. "I was just...say..ing...at Delani, my hoping for a..."tutor"?..Is that right?...Not a formal...teaching person...I mean I can not be for paying lessons. Perhaps I am...being able...for teaching back...to you...something useful."

He listened to them speak of distant lands. Zeltiva sounded exotic to him, Denvali as well. Syliras he had, of course, heard of. "Mura"and "Konti" were familiar, though at first he forgot which referred to the place, and which referred to the race. Brodon had met a Konti in Yahebah. He was not sure if he should mention it, though. If the one he met was Eleret's friend, she would probably not have a flattering account to relate about him, with the misunderstanding that had occurred.

"I am not knowing if my story...sharing...of Yahebah is being much...good for hearing. I did not be able for learning the Shibur, the language. I nearly did die crossing the Burning Lands after my friend, Vins...and I..." he paused, his look becoming distant as he thought of his old friend. "Oh...we were chased from Ahnatep by...bad men, the many-armed men. I am hopefully...thinking that I...uh...hope..." He grimaced, knowing this sentence had not worked well. He waved it off as unimportant. "I am hoping Lacerta is not being a bad man al...WOMAN..." he blushed furiously. "bad woman...also...like the men."

"I am sorry..ful...They were good enough at me...The Pressorah...she is like being a queen...She was good to me for finding false guards doing no good things in town. They, it was, that chased my friend and I from town...Well...friends of them, anyway."

He suddenly winced at the thought that he had gone on long enough about his misadventures in Eyktol for now. The two women had been about discussing bunking arrangements before he began his ramblings. And, he didn't want to exhaust all his topics of conversation too soon. There was a whole boat trip to consider. He felt sure new topics would arise once they reached Syka.

[Atri's Place-Garden] Relax, it's just a question

Postby Eleret on August 25th, 2013, 12:38 pm

Eleret remained mystified at what the Drykas had thought she might or might not know of events on the region border. In any case, whatever it was, she probably didn't need to know. Eleret let the subject slip past, and smiled at Delani. "Good. I am glad to share with you."

Brodon's speech was much more halting, but the Konti merely listened patiently until he had finished. "I do not know the language either," she remarked. "But maybe I will learn Pavi, yes? It is a good trade," she added with a dry half-smile.

To his concerns about Lacerta, Eleret frowned slightly. "I do not find all humans to be the same," she pointed out reasonably. "Why would you expect Lacerta to be like your 'bad men'?" The rest of it was a bit confusing to her -- which people in his story were from Ahnatep and which from Yahebah, not to mention whether the "Pressorah" was herself Eypharian or Benshira... but it wasn't really important now. They had an entire voyage ahead of them during which the specifics could be pinned down.

Eleret shook her head slightly, dismissing that thought, and smiled at both of the Drykas. "I will let you to rest. There will be much time on the ship for more talking, with all of us."

[Atri's Place-Garden] Relax, it's just a question

Postby Brodon Windriver on August 25th, 2013, 4:36 pm

Brodon groaned inwardly, 'Now I've done it. I've come off sounding like I don't trust Lacerta, though she has certainly done me no ill.' He knew the pressure to correct the situation would not improve his common.

But then he thought, 'DID I come off sounding different than I truly feel? I DID feel a subtle animosity toward the Eypharian woman when I first saw her.'

He turned toward the Konti, realizing his guarded attitude toward her was no more justified than what he held toward Lacerta. "You are right to me. I can not be saying...how a sort of good...or not...person Lacerta is. In Ahnatep, the Eypharians were...not good to me. I was looked at...as a low thing. I was being pushed and being...not noticed...as I was trying to talk at them..." he thought about mentioning being spat on, but decided against it, thinking his point sufficiently made.

"It was not until...after my having...to...be proving myself to them...as 'worthy'...a thing which was almost killing me...by exposing false foxes...these are the city guards of one rank. They tried to be killing me." he realized he'd gotten off track.

"Any ways, I was having to show them me being worth...y...of respect and...curtsies, before they would. And I was not liking it ." He blushed, but this time with shame. "And now I am doing this same shamefulness. I am sorry. I have met good and bad of everything. It is being hard to know when a...smart...cautiousness is going too far...into...rudeness."

I really wish I could've given you more. Didn't feel right giving you lores about inactive PCs. Would've liked to see where this went.

Should any of the other PCs become active again, drop me a PM and I'll grade your portions.

Don't forget to edit your grading request! Though I try my hardest to award you what you deserve, I may occasionally mess things up! If there's something you'd like to discuss about your grade, then please don't hesitate to send me a PM and I'll be happy to work things out with you.

Riverfall - Behind the Waterfall - Mod Request Thread - Codex - OOC
Because of RL issues and a lack of energy that I can devote to Mizahar, I've decided to step down as an AS. I'm sorry to leave so suddenly, but it's truly been fun while it lasted. Hopefully I can come back some day.
