Fighter's Pit

It hadn't taken Ana very long to discover a new path, and a different route to a unique district that was surprisingly enough open to the air. The district reminded Ana of Sunberth with its buildings and gruff looking features, so different from the castle like area, it was a refreshing change. Even the workers held a familliar grace about them that was so similar to Zeltiva, and Sunberth, going back and forth for a days worth of work, hauling heavy looking items, and dissapearing into buildings. There was something in the air, a smell Ana couldn't quite place even if she tried, but it mingled with a closely interlocked sea salt spray that wafted in.

Most of the true scent was lost on her human nose, but she recognized when a dock was nearby, perhaps the docks that the woman in that office area had mentioned when Ana was looking for work. It wasn't until the sounds of clinging metal, grunts, and heavy breathing greeted her ears that she found a peculiar place. Following her ears, she came closer, and closer to a courtyard filled with many weapons and people training. In she walked, staying close to the wall as she watched men and women spar together, or those with the talent whom were throwing punches at eachother, and finally a man gruffer looking than the district who seemed to be over seeing the place.

I wonder what this place is.. Ana wondered to herself, watching from a far in silent subtle awe. Compared to the rest of the place, she was a sight for sore eyes, with the purple jacket and red scarf. It made her feel just a tad more self conscience, but she wouldn't let it get to her, nor the uncomfortable heat that crawled underneath her skin around her neck begging her to take the scarf off. Ana tryed to loosen it without revealing the brand on the side, her feet moving closer to the weapons rack, she didn't plan to stay very long but an interesting sight had caught her eye. Over towards those who were on mats performing unarmed techniques was...

Her eyes caught Kreig Messer.

Ana froze in her spot, the heat that once was transitioned to a dunk in ice cold water, she had to be seeing things. There wasn't anyway Kreig could have come to Syliras as well, there just was no petching way. First reaction was to run away from the walking, breathing, talking piece of incriminating evidence.

"..." Her mouth opened in mock horror before shutting promptly, chest tightening uncomfortably as she refrained from making too much of a scene.

On her heel she turned to walk out of the Fighter's Pit she had unwittingly stumbled upon, still unknowing of its name, she didn't care. Ana just needed to get away from that place, and Kreig, she couldn't risk the confrontation, the very fact that he knew who she would be.. Ana couldn't take that chance in revealing herself.

Morphing... Use it... It was a invasive voice that crawled to the forefront of her mind, whispering sweetly. Mumbling quietly to the air "N-no.. Petch.." There were too many people to see, and as long as he hadn't seen her, she would be safe from having to use it.

The Fighter's pit, gods if there was any remainder of home this was one of them. It reminded him horribly of the bloodpits which admittedly Kreig didn't actually quite like compared to ol' tall johnny's. If one thing the pit's shared with Tall Johnn'ys it was a lot less lethal, it wasn't truly a gambling establishment in any case as it was mostly for training and settiling physical disputes 'Though that doesn't stop them from doing so apparently' He chuckled as he saw the various fighters, surprisingly it was a crowded day and there were many worthy looking ones to fight from. Although he shouldn't 'Natasha would bite my head off' While practically healed up, Natasha had ordered him on the side of precaution to not get into any fights. That totally bummed his mood, but watching the training and fighting would have to do.

He moved about, the walking, breathing, talking piece of incriminating evidence taking in all the excitement as a wild grin plastered his face. He so wanted to fight, his fists wanted to meet the many faces in greeting, but nooooooo....he had to practice restaint!

It was then that his eyes viewed a figure who could be mistaked for being curvacious. Her small figure out of place amongst the entirety of warriors and fighters gathered. Her short and messy blond hair....wait, she didn't look that quite curvacious. In fact she looked very familiar. A figure who had no reason to be in Syliras as much he....will he actually did have his reasons but those are for another time.

"Ohhhh by Dira;s grace" He found himself saying in wideeyed surprises as the palm of his left met his forhead as he looked down at the ground and shook his head. The girl in Sunberth whom he so often bought meals for, the one who hung about that lous wren who left him with a little nasty preset before leaving and the one who left to the Jamoura homeland only to never return.

A soft smile replaced his wild grin as he slowly made his way to Ana Sol Starris, who suddenly looked like a nervous mouse " Ana? Dear Ana? My eyes haven't gone bad yet with age so I have to believe thats you?....did you get a little curvier?"

Taking a Risk (Kreig)

Petch. Ana chimed in her head at Kreig's words, her feet grinding to a halt and her shoulders raising up, totally giving away she knew him, and he had guessed right. "Ana?" She whispered, trying to make her voice rather scratchy "whos this Ana you speak of" she scoffed out as she tried to glance behind herself without giving away her eyes. Turning her head away, feeling the danger in that action rear its ugly head. Panick set in, most terribly, what was to happen if he had turned on the Edge for good and would turn her in to the authorities for knowing she was a thief? The familliar feeling of energy washed over, mayhaps adrenaline, or a little something more. Mayhaps it was the magic, and her fear.

It called.

The whispers were voiceless but pounded her ears with reason, and decadent logic, turn her eyes a different color to throw him off course the wordless message boomed, turn her eyes to something less than gold, something ruddier, something green, something blue, maybe every color of the rainbow- she settled with brown. A conglomerate mix of every color put together, so dull, so muddied, her irises flooded with brown and pushed out the gold, obscuring it with a power only known as morphing, using her djed. The reaction itself was quick, unintended, it had been a mere thought but by simply feeling threatened, she had cast aside all caution of her power.

Ana felt her shoulders shake as she went to cover the side of her face as she looked at him, trying to hide from him, his gaze, she wanted nothing more than to sink into the ground at that very moment and hide away... Like she had hidden the gold in her eyes. "I'm s-s-s-sorry.... I think... You've mis-mistaked me for someone else..." she uttered with a stutter in her voice, now feeling extremely vunerable for having of performed magic in an open street; but no one seemed to pay much attention, they had paid no heed, no eyes turned to look her way but only Kreigs were still on her.

The burn, albeit metaphorical, seared into her conscience from his gaze.

Kreig raised an eyebrow in confusion. Why did Ana turn her head like that? Why did she try to change her voice? …. Why did she deny knowledge of him? “Ana? Come on, I know its you. I can’t imagine you forgetting me” Why did she try to hide from him? Kreig wanted answer for these question as he waited a single long moment. Ana was of the few friends he had in Sunberth, she was a close one…. Petch he fed her without expecting anything in return, only her friendship. At times he tried to protect her from trouble whenever trouble decided to pester her….

When she lived for some merc job with the majority of the Crimson Edge, he remained and tried to protect the groups turf…. Only for them to never return and the gang devastated beyond repair ‘Only to be abandoned and alone….only to be exiled’ came the memories of those horrible seasons, those days where he had nobody and still waited for the like of Ana and Zandelia to return…..but they never did come back.

And now here Ana was, trying to deny their acquaintance, why? Is it because she was a thief and he feared him turning her in? Had she so forgotten the loyalty he displayed to their friendship? When she raised her head, the color of her eyes changed from its golden color to that dull brown…. Kreig felt a jab of pain in his chest ‘Magic?’ Kreig wanted to curse out loud, but its not like he didn’t expect this…. She was friends with Wrenmae, that lunatic mage… so many mages were in that gang and she had to be friends with the most messed up of the bunch.

Was it because of his own distrust of magic then? Was it because that the knights themselves issued a witch hunt/ again it bought back the questions of how loyal he was to her as a friend…. Must he be abandoned again? He felt sorrow itched onto his face, tears forming and slowly trickle down his face… If she wanted to abandon him completely, so be it ‘I’ll deny I know anything of you then… for your safety’

“I’m ….sorry” Kreig said as he choked the words out, putting on a false grin on his face, trying to mask the pain and make it look like he did indeed mistake her for someone else “You just… looked like a friend I used to know, went for somewhere for a long time and didn’t come back… sorry, you just look so much like her, I’ll… I’ll be leaving you alone now, do take care miss” He turned, obscuring his head from his view as the grin left his face for a pained frown to take its place.

It seemed Sunberth was rejecting him completely, even with him all the way in Syliras.

Taking a Risk (Kreig)

Postby Ana Sol Starris on August 25th, 2013, 6:49 am

Ana couldn't see his expression well, her hand made sure to block her vision of him but once she moved it slowly downwards, she was most certain that her panicking had been a mistake. The look on his face, it tugged at her thin heart strings. Rendered her unable to speak, to object, to take back her fear and tell him it was alright- but silent she remained and the grin on his face deterred her from even making an attempt. His words, she needed to correct what she had done but even Ana knew she didn't have the courage nor the will to chase after him.

With his back turned to her, for once the speechless thief couldn't bring it in herself to yell at him for displaying his backside, to start walking away. The farther he went, the more relaxed her demeanor became, icily staring at him. Well, look what you've done, you petching moron.. You panick for a moment and now you can't talk to him, what a great way to show that you've matured. Oh yeah, yeaah, you useless girl.. Her thoughts stabbed, and moaned in disgust, reminded her she was not a weak child, and she had promised Wren that she would be stronger than what she was...

Panick had made her weak.

But what can I do.. I can't control the panick.. I can't.. It just came at me like a force of nature.. How does one battle that? She replied to her own thoughts, silence thereafter gazing upon where Kreig had dissapeared.

There was nothing more to say, the damage had been done and she really didn't feel like bumping into him again. "Well, what can I do.." she sighed into the air with a step forwards, and then back, she turned and went the other way in hopes to further avoid him. He never sent her further letters, it had been Wren who had told her of the destruction of the Sunberth stay-behinds, not Kreig. Though she couldn't deny, she should have replied to him, but when she had thought to.. Wren had told her he fled Sunberth for elsewhere, how was she suppose to contact him then?

It wasn't her fault, the thought rung in her ears. Its not my fault.

Ana reaffirmed to herself repeatedly, covering her eyes and sliding into a cramped alleyway. Shifting downwards to sit on the ground against a wall, she felt tired all of a sudden, as if she had aged a few years.. The brown in her eyes bounced back to gold, a watered down color after so many changes, and the energy once there dissipated. What to do now? Personally she was more content to just sit there for awhile and take in the scenery before scuttling off back to her apartment; and yet she felt the possibility that there would be another encounter, and it wouldn't go down as smoothly as it had the first time.
