This northernmost city is the home of Morwen, The Goddess of Winter, and her followers who dwell year round in a land of frozen wonder. [Lore]

David got up from his table after having finished the usual small breakfast before walking over to his personal chest. After opening the chest he looked inside to see the new armor and clothes he had bought the other day. Grabbing his new warm clothes he started to put them on so that he wouldn't freeze while outside. As he put on his new jacket he looked at the frozen over window for a moment to see what kind of day it was going to be.
After having put on his new fine wool clothing it was time to put on his new armor. Walking back over to the chest he grabbed his new chain mail armor and began putting it on. It didn't fit his form exactly but it fit well enough that it wouldn't cause any problems he could see. After having got into the chain mail armor he put on his padded tabard before finally putting on his great helm over his fine wool hood.
After having put on his warm clothes and armor he grabbed his long sword and large wooden shield. His clothing and armor contrasted against his humble home."I need to spruce up this house" David said to him self as he walked to the front door. After stepping out of his home and locking the door behind him he began to search for job opportunities.
David kept an eye out for his usual clients as he walked the snowy streets in his new clothing and armor. He was pretty unrecognizable thanks to his new outfit and got a few looks from people who passed by. David had hoped that the armor might make people want to hire him more. After not finding any of his normal clients he decided to try and see if the black smith needed any help.
After making his way to the black smith's store he stepped inside. He was immediately greeted by the Vantha blacksmith who had previously hired him and sold him his new armor."Ah, I see that you are walking around wearing the armor I sold you. If anyone asks make sure to tell them you bought it from me." he said walking up to the counter."So, is there anything I can do for you today ?" the blacksmith asked David as he walked up to the counter."Was wondering if you had any work that needed doing." he sad to the blacksmith who thought for a moment."Can't say that there is anything." the blacksmith said with a shrug and a pause."You can be sure that you will hear from me if anything does come up though." he said to a disappointed David.
After leaving the blacksmith David started making his way to the eastern gates to see if he could encounter any possible customers. Upon arriving a rather hopefully looking man approached him."You wouldn't happen to be a mercenary would you ?" the man asked looking David over."I am indeed a mercenary." David said with a smile as he looked at the man."Excellent, because I have a job for you." the man said with a pause."On the way into the city I seem to have lost a rather important chest, it probably fell off my wagon not to far away." he said to David who gave a nod."I need you to go retrieve it for me." he said to David who continued to smile."I can retrieve your chest, but it will cost you three gold Mizas." David said crossing his arms."Yes of course." the man said obviously wanting what ever was in the chest at any cost."I will pay you upon return of course." he said to David who was looking over at the gate."Sounds fair enough." he said looking back to the man."So we have a deal then ?" David asked the man who smiled in return."I believe we do indeed have a deal." the man said as David began to walk towards the gate. |

After having exited the city through the gate David began his search for the lost chest. David went off in the direction that he has witnessed most people come from. Trudging through the snow he kept an eye out for the chest while also keeping an eye out for trouble. David was having a harder time then he imagined looking for the chest then he had imagined, his new helmet was interfering with his vision. He had considered taking the helmet off but decided against it.
Eventually David spotted someone in the distance. Walking towards this person he noticed that they where standing over a chest. As David walked up to both the shady looking man and the chest he noticed that this stranger had been trying to open the container."Hello, I don't believe that belongs to you." David said coming to a stop."Yeah, so what if it doesn't ?" the man said drawing a short sword before even looking at David. The man took a step back upon getting a good look at David."Well, I was hired to retrieve that chest." he said holding the grip of his long sword."Whether or not it comes back to my client drenched in blood is not my concern." he said staring at the man who was obviously nervous. As he looked over the stranger he noticed that is sword had a rather familiar marking, the brand of the blacksmith was on the hilt. |

David took a step towards both the man and the chest."So tell me, am I going to have to paint the snow red ?" David asked as he unsheathed his sword."You are making a mistake !" the man said taking another step back away from David."Oh am I ?" David asked with a hint of amusement in his voice."Yeah, you are." the man said with a nervous grin as David heard the sound of foot steps coming from behind. While David had been concentrated on the shady man with the sword someone had snuck up on him.
The shady man with the short sword chuckled."Now it is two against one." the man said while taking a step forward."I suppose it is." David said turning around to see who had snuck up on him. The man behind him also wielded a short sword with the black smith mark on it."Well, you leave me with no choice then." David said with a shrug before raising is long sword. David then ran towards the man who had come up behind him with both his shield and sword raised.
David swung his sword at the neck of the second man only to have it blocked by the short sword. With the second swing he made it look as if he was aiming higher then he was and struck the bandit in the side before bashing him with his shield. The second man fell backwards into the snow bleeding while the shady looking fellow ran up behind David with sword raised. Spinning around David raised his shield and blocked the strike just in time before thrusting his long sword forward. The shady man jumped backwards and away from the strike only to have David run forward and slash at him. The shady man blocked the slash at his head with his short sword before swinging his blade at the side of David.
David blocked the attack with his shield before raising his sword and swinging it at the wrist of his attacker. The shady man had no time to dodge this time as the long sword cleaved his sword hand right off. Yelling in pain the shady man fell backwards into the snow. By now the second man was up again and went in for the attack. The second man slashed at David's side as hard as he could from behind. The sword slash did not have the desired affect of cutting David, but it would most likely leave a horrible bruise. Upon feeling the blade strike against his chainmail armor David spun around yet again and bashed the second man with his shield before swing his sword at the neck.
The long sword cleaved right through the man's neck beheading him. Now panting David turned towards the shady man and stared at him."Flee now and you may live to see another day !" David yelled pointing his blood covered longsword at the shady man. The shady man got up and started running away while clutching the stump where his hand used to be. David walked over to the lost chest once he could no longer see the man.
David smiled a bit as he sheathed his sword."Now to get you back to your owner." he said grabbing hold of the chest. As he made his way back to the city he started to notice a soreness in his sides."Oh not this again." he said commenting on the fact that he had just gotten over an injury inflicted on his sides. |

Upon making his way back to the city David began looking for the man who had hired him. He was looking forward to a well deserved pay as he walked through the gates. David spotted the man who had hired him to retrieve the chest casually chatting to someone else. Still holding the locked and heavy chest he made his way over to the man so that he may receive his pay and head home to rest.
As David walked over the man noticed him and smiled."Ah, you have returned." he said taking a few steps forward."I trust you didn't run into any trouble ?" he asked as he looked both David and the chest over."Nothing that I couldn't handle." David said as he sat the chest down on the snow covered ground. The started sifting through his pockets to find the money he now owed David for the job."I had just about given up when I saw you return through those gates." he said with a smile as he gave David the money."Now, good day." the man said returning to the person he had just been talking to.
David started to make his way home, but something was nagging at his mind. He was wondering how those two bandits managed to get their hands on the swords that the black smith had made. Deciding to make a slight detour through the snowy streets he started heading towards the black smith to try and get some answers. |

David walked down the snowy street making his way to the blacksmith and his shop. Reaching the store David entered through the front door to see the blacksmith at the counter."I still don't have any work for you." the blacksmith said upon seeing that it was David who entered his store."I'm not here for that." David said as he approached the counter."What is it then ?" the blacksmith asked in his usual tone."Well, you see I encountered some rather unpleasant people using your swords." he said to the blacksmith who didn't say anything for a moment."I just sell the weapons, I don't dictate what people do with them." the blacksmith said not wanting the blame to be assigned to him."I know that, I just want to know who the guy you sold them to is." he said wanting this mess sorted out before it got any worse."I don't know his real name, but I do know that name he goes by." the black smith said with a pause."The Ice Lion." he said to David who didn't say anything for a moment."The Ice Lion ? That sounds oddly familiar." he said turning away from the counter. The blacksmith gave a shrug before returning to managing his store. Leaving the store unsure of why the name sounded so familiar David started to make his way home. |

NotesThis was a nice read, I enjoyed seeing David's determination to finish the job, and attacking those bandits was nicely described and well-written. Just to note, to help readers, when a new person speaks, put it on a new line. ^^ Also, I was left wondering a bit on your last post, as it was quite vague, since you described no way the blacksmith would even know the man David spoke of. It would have been good to read David physically taking note of the appearance of him, and then describing it, or something along those lines that could be used as an identifier in the future. C: Other than that, great work!
