TimeStamp: Summer Day 14, 513

The day was hot, really, really hot. For some reason this Summer season was worse than it had been in years. Cin suspected that it probably had something to do with the Djed storm from Spring. Everything was a little weird after the storm of the Gods. But the sometimes the Summer weather could be unbearable and Cin-Cin felt really bad for the horses. She was working at the stables right now and she wished that the water coming from the pipes was cold, so the horses could have some relief. Instead they were drinking lukewarm water and eating a bunch of moss from the Underground Forest, because at least that was a little cool from being underground. Luckily the Mountain Ponies had it better than the rest. Because of their small stature they were the ones going back and forth between the Underground Forest and got to enjoy the limited amount of coolness from the caves. But the only thing Cin could do for the rest of the horses was to make sure they got plenty of moss and instead of running around the outside of stables, they got to prance in the courtyard which was located under a roof, away from the blazing heat.

The comfort of the horses, though, was not the only problem in the stables lately. The workers have been extra lazy lately. The groomers, Toffin and Avik, were doing just fine, being scared enough of Cin when to do their jobs efficiently. Toffin, more than Avik; Cin had a problem of get angry when her employees didn’t do their jobs and Toffin had witnessed that firsthand. Plus they were more involved in their jobs than the Dek were.

Cin almost laughed. The Dek, man were they something. She hated to discriminate but they really were what they were said to be. The three Dek that worked for her was Vart, Warv and Turka. Vart and Warv had mental disabilities and were slow to think. But they were big and perfect for manual labor and that’s why they were there. Turka on the other hand is as sharp as a tack and is used to keep the other two in line when Cin was not able. But even she has some problems. Turka’s legs are mutilated from birth and need Warv to carry her everywhere. But she could control those two, and that’s why she was useful. But right now the Dek were slow moving, almost as slow as their heads. The heat was probably getting to them, and she often spotted them drinking the water from the horses trophs and even taking some moss from the bins and pressing the coolness to their face. She only scolded them when she saw them messing with the moss. What horse wants to eat moss covered in Dek sweat?

Besides the crazy heat and Cin busy trying to speed up the Dek the day was normal. The horses were going through their daily routine and Kami was bustling about making sure no one, human and horse alike, was suffering from heat stroke.

The temperature inside the belly of the volcano was almost unbearable since the heat and humanity had no place to go inside the crater, so most Inarta had to escape deeper into the warrens to seek more comfortable temperatures farther underground. However, Iosha knew her horse, Moonfire, must be baking alive in the stables at the moment, so she had a plan to take him to the Twin Lakes to seek refuge from the heat in the water, but she first needed to get finish her lessons before her and horse can play in the sun. The konti was proud of her horse, and she hoped to take him into the Unforgiving when she looked for her father's and his wind eagles' remains. She knew she wasn't ready yet, but she was getting closer to her goal every day. When she walked outside into the Courtyard of the Sky, Iosha was immediately hit with a rush of heat and humidity when she finally made it to open sky, and the konti immediately started to sweat in the intense summer sun. It was unpleasant feeling on her skin and scales, but she needed to get to the warren leading to stables. The Courtyard was crowded with Inarta trying to get a little sun before venturing back into the volcano. While she was moving across the courtyard, Iosha saw a pair of Inarta women sunbathing completely naked in the summer sun. Nobody paid attention to the two woman accept for a few male Yasi walking across the courtyard. The konti glanced at them for a few ticks, but she shook her head and continued towards the Skyhigh Stables.

As the konti walked to the stables, Iosha started to smell a pungent aroma of horse dug in the air. The smell was multiplied because of the heat and humanity, so she did her best to ignore it. Iosha adjusted her quiver and her bow on her back as she got to the door of the stable master's office. When she walked into the door, she immediately went to the stable master and knocked on his door. Iosha heard a few whistles in nari meaning come in, so the Konti opened the door and heard the man say in common, “Iosha isn't it a wonderful day to be at the stable?” Iosha smirked at the man and said with a laugh, “Yes, the heat is defiantly oppressive today, and I think the smell is keeping the RIF-raf away from the stables.” The stable master snickered and said in common, “Well, horses aren't the mount of choice for most Inarta, so our four legged friends poop machines are just a public nuisance during the heat of the summer.” Iosha rolled her eyes over the gingers' prejudice against horses, and she said with a laugh to stable master, “Well they can walk than..” Iosha ran a hand through her sweaty hair and asked with a smile, “After my horsemanship lesson, I am going to take Moonfire to the twin lakes to cool down. I just wanted to let you know that she will be back before nightfall.” The stable master snorted to himself and said, “It your horse, Iosha. You bring her back whenever you want to bring him back.” The stable master started to shuffle through his papers, stopped and looked at a list, and said with a smile, “Cin-Cin will be your instructor today, Iosha. However, I got to warn you. She might be in foul mood today because the Deks are kind of lazy in heat as bad as it is today.” Iosha looked off for a moment, and she remembered the day Darkness accident injured a Inarta woman, and she needed immediately because Cin-Cin lost a lot of blood from the claw wound in her shoulder. The konti gave the stable master a small smile and said softly, “I already met Cin-Cin a few seasons ago.” The Stable master filled out a note and handed it to her and said, “Take this note to Cin, Iosha. It basically telling her to teach you the basics of horsemanship. Good Luck to you both.”

Taking the note, Iosha opened the door and walked out into the overpower smell of horses all around her. It wasn't a bad smell since it sort of masked the smell of the manure, but she knew the animals were hot, and they to needed to sweat to stay cool. The konti was amazed at the amount of horses the Inarta had at the stables, and she started to wonder if the prejudice was just a rumor started by foriegners. Anyways, Iosha rounded the corner, and she heard Cin-Cin barking orders at the dek. They weren't over the top orders like the Endals enjoyed to give to torment the lowest caste, but they were simple a direct, and it was a sign of the fair and strict leader. Iosha waited for a chime till the deks understood their orders, and when they left, Iosha walked over to Cin-Cin and said with a smile, “Wow you are definitely more livelier from the last time I saw you Cin-Cin. How is your shoulder?” Iosha reached into her pocket and handed her the note, “Oh I should give you this before I forget. Stablemaster Hansi Nader instructed me to tell you that you will be my instructor today, and my horse is Moonfire. He is a black Fire mane with the white mane.”

Cin-Cin was sighing in the heat, her hands on her hips, doing all she could to rationalize with herself. 'It's not their fault they're so petching slow. Even you're slower Cin. Give 'em a break.' It was true, but at least she was trying, and she was filling up her waterskin at the employee water barrel instead of stealing the poor horses water, although she doubted that the horses cared any bit. Still, it annoyed her.

It was in the middle of Cin-Cin arguing with herself that a soft voice interrupted her train of thought. Immediately she turned, ready to glare at Toffin, who often had a soft, shy voice when speaking to Cin-Cin. She stopped herself, just in time to not glare at the customer. Damn would Hansi have her ass for that, some people could just complain and complain and -

Wait, she knew this woman. It was a Konti, so Cin recognized her immediately. She didn't often see many Konti, so she remembered them when she met them.
"Iosha!" She exclaimed, surprised, both at Iosha for being here (did healers do 2 season check ups?) and at herself for actually remembering the name. If she thought back correctly, she wasn't in a very 'remembering state'.

Chuckling at Iosha's first comment she rolled up her sleeve, revealing a small, but noticeable, scar about an inch long.
"Doing just fine, added nicely to my leg!" she said at she gestured to her leg which she then turned round and round for view. Her leg spouted a bunch of evenly placed scars, that had come from a very large bite mark. But she laughed it off and then frowned at the note Iosha handed to her.

She immediately crumpled it up, while listening to the Konti. Mumbling she complained,
"Damn Nadar, always gotta give the orders, always gotta have the last word." Then louder, to Iosha, "I believe you, he doesn't need to write a note. What're you gonna do, lie to me?" She chuckled again.

"So Moonfire's your horse? He's a good boy, pretty one too." Cin-Cin began to walk down the hall, leading to the horses stall, the 53th one to be exact. She assumed the Konti would follow.

It was a quick walk since they were already halfway there.
"Surprised you have a Firemane there Iosha. Being a Konti and all I'd figured you'd have like a seahorse or some rare horse as white as you are. Firemanes are kinda Wind Reach's staple horse..." To Wind Reach Konti's were more like Goddesses than humans. With their scales and all whiteness... plus their crazy magic like the one that healed Cin-Cin.

She waved her hand
"But no matter, he's a beautiful horse, just as good as the others." Here they reached the stall, and Moonfire whined at seeing his owner. Cin smiled, then frowned. His deep black coat was shimmering with sweat, and after greeting Iosha and Ci she went back to guilping down water. All Cin-Cin hoped was that Iosha understood that they couldn't do much about the heat and she wouldn't complain. She could just see Hansi yelling at her about some crap like that. Something totally out of her control, something in the hands of the Gods. She almost laughed at the ridiculousness that it would be.

But she quickly opened up the small wooden gate that held Moonfire in and grabbed his lead, leading him out of the stall. He happily obliged and the stomped excitedly on his feet on the dry stone floor beneath him.

"So you wanna train then huh? Okay then, to the courtyard we go.. unless you want to go outside, although it's hot, and the outside doesn't have built in water troughs and barrels for both the horse and us." She stopped, looking at the Konti, awaiting her answer.

When Ciin-Cin motioned her to follow, Iosha picked up the pace and walked besides the young Inarta woman. The konti smiled at her when Cin-Cin recognized her horse and said softly,
“Yes, I bought him with a whole season wage last spring. He was a expensive horse, but I am glad I choose him. He has spirit.” The konti listened to Cin and nodded to herself proudly when she said he was a pretty horse. She had to laugh out loud at the comment of owning a seahorse, or a horse as white as her. It was true. Iosha was looking for a white horse, but she loved the spirit of Moonfire as well as the horses physical appearance. Iosha looked at Cin-Cin and said with a amused grin, “I doubt a seahorse will help me get through the Unforgiving will it. Besides, I am a quick swimmer, so why would I need a seahorse. All they can do is flutter slowly through the water.” Iosha smirked at the woman, and she was glad the woman survived the encounter with Darkness because she was quite funny for a Inarta.

When Iosha made it to Moonfire's stall, she could tell he was sweating a lot in humid stagnant air. The konti saw the horse turn his head and whine at her. She could tell he was uncomfortable, so she put a hand on his flank and walked beside him to his head. She learned from Hansi that a rider should always let the horse know where they were when they walked around the four legged animal. It was a good tip for not getting kicked by the horse. When she made it to his head, she lean close to his ear and whispered in kontinese to him,“When we are finished training boy, I will take you to the Twin Lakes to cool down.” She stroked his white mane and looked up at Cin-Cin, “I know it is a terrible day to train since it really hot outside, but it getting busy at the Infirmary, so I needed to squeeze as much personal things into my off time...” Iosha gave the horse a concerned look and said without looking at her, “I just hope he forgives me for taking him out in the heat.” The konti looked at Cin-Cin and smiled slightly at her, “When we are finished training, would you like join Moonfire and me on our trip to the Twin Lakes to cool off?” Iosha had alternative motives to besides from cooling down her horse. She bought some fishing arrows in Avanthal, and she wanted to try bow finishing in the lakes, and she wanted to get to know the young falconer since she spent forty-eight hours tending to her injures.

When Cin-Cin opened the gates, Iosha untied her ropes and handed them to stable manager, and the horse eagerly followed the red haired women out of his stall. The konti was impressed by her ability to handle animals, and she was about to ask a question, but the Inarta beat her to it. She asked about where she preferred getting trained, so Iosha answered looking at the horse, “We should do it inside, so Moony has a place to get water when he is thirsty. I am not a veterinarian, so I don't know who to handle heat stroke in horses.” Iosha decided to ask her question about taking care of a animal in the heat, “I know Moonfire is quite hot at the moment, but do you know how to cool him down if I don't have access to a stable?” On the other side of the tall animal, she looked across at the horse trainer waiting for a answer to her question and waiting for her to lead her to the next destination.

Cin doubted that a whole seasons pay could get her a horse, but the Konti probably was an Avora, with her magic and stuff, when Cin was just a Stable Manager. So she figured it was more probable with Iosha than herself. But she only nodded at the girl when she mentioned that, impressed though, of course.

Cin chuckled, though, at the seahorse comment.
"Well you would know, you live in two worlds. I don't think I've ever even seen a seahorse. Besides those small ones in the tide pools at Thunderbay sometimes. But the mount ones, they must be huge." She was surprised though that a seahorse, the horse of the sea as its name described, could be slow. She would die to be able to survive in water, and ride a seahorse... But she was being carried away and shook her head before focusing back on what Iosha was saying.

In a city with Deks that probably get injured and die everyday, with a heat like this, and those Endals and their birds needing constant care, Cin-Cin could see what Iosha meant with squeezing in her personal time. Not to mention the random stumbles with Cin and that creature that stabbed her... She actually had wanted to ask Iosha what that was... But that could wait. They needed training first.

She was flattered, though, when the Konti invited her along to the Twin Lakes. Her shift was almost up, probably would be over by the time she finished training Iosha and Moonfire. And Try would just love it. He would catch some fish, he loves fish... But she took a worried look at the horses in the stalls. Yeah, by the time her shift ended it would only be a few more bells before the sun started to go down and the heat lessened. But they were still in a volcano, or at least directly next to one, it would always be hot. And she knew they were uncomfortable. The Deks would have to be working all night taking care of them... Cin had even brought in 4 more Deks to help out this Season. Poor Kami would have to stay the night to be available immediately if a horse got in trouble. Cin herself was on call if the Deks needed monitoring.

But she couldn't watch them all day. And she had to spend some time with Try, she knew he was dying in this heat too. And, oh, he would just die for some fish... He didn't mind the water either. Yeah, she would go, treat Try to a treat and then she would be able to escort the two back and make sure Moonfire was okay when they were all done. Then she could take one last peek at the other horses, make sure they were okay. She would do that.

"Thank you, Iosha. I appreciate the offer, and I will gladly accept. Try, you remember Try, my bird? Well he would love to get out to the water too. He likes fishing. Thank you." She said, smiling and nodding at the Healer.

And as Iosha picked out the Courtyard, instead of outiside, Cin had to sigh a bit in relief. Damn it would suck outside. Anyway he pulled Moonfire by the lead and lead the pair to the courtyard, listening while Iosha asked another question.

If you don't have access to a stable.
"So you mean if you had him, say on a long ride or something? Well, thats a bit of a tough question. I may look like an expert because I work here, but I'm not... But I do know a little." Cin sighed, exploring her brain for the answer, she knew it was there somewhere. "The thing about horses is no matter how tame they seem they are still wild animals. They have instincts to survive in this kind of weather. Of course this weather is kind of extreme." It was crazy really. "They know how to take care of themselves. But if you are really worried there are a few things you can do. Of course the obvious are very good. Give them plenty of water, the colder the better, and keep them in the shade. Going underground, though usually undesirable to the horse, can cool them down as its not that hot down there. Taking them to large bodies of water, like the Twin Lakes, is awesome. Also moist food is good so they don't dry out their mouth. If you noticed we are giving the horses a lot of moss from the Underground Forest, moist food." She smiled at herself, she was good. "But really there's not that much else you can do. Of course if your horse gets heat stroke I'm sure you can just heal 'em on up like you did me with your magic!" She said enthusiastically.

They had made it to the courtyard. It was a large round stone based room that had been carved out of the mountain itself. Although its floor is stone, it was also covered in tons and tons of sand from Thunderbay that the Endals were kind enough to transport. The sand made it easy on the hard working and training horse's feet. Usually this was used for the winter, to get away from snow, but since i was so hot, this would do as well. Unfortunately the sand was a little less than normal, but nothing that would injure the horses at all.

"Here we are, Iosha. Before we begin there's a couple of things to do first." Here she let go of Moonfire, and he went pacing around the sand, happy to be out of his stall. "Having a horse and learning how to ride him is not all getting on the horse and riding, if you know what I mean. Moonfire seems to trust you well enough, but you have to maintain that trust. First we should brush him, well you should. Maybe wash him a bit. There are buckets and water, as well as brushes, all around the perimeter." She then walked up to Moonfire, talking to Iosha the entire way, but this alerted Moonfire to her location.

"You take him by the rope, or the lead, and lead him to the water or wherever you want to wash him. But if you will can you do it where the sand isnt?" She said gesturing to the ring around the edge. "Wet sand takes forever to dry in this humidity." She laughed then continued. "Do not look back at your horse when you lead him, this shows dominance." She showed Iosha by grabbing the horse's rope and leading him, looking straight ahead the entire time, to a water trough. He did not drink, only waited patiently until Cin-Cin dropped the rope again. You an lead a horse to water but you cannot make it drink.

"I know this may seem like a waste of time, but it is a very important step to mutual trust. Next we will get onto saddling your horse, unless you want to bareback?" She asked Iosha. If she said yes to the saddle Cin-Cin would walk out of the courtyard and summon a Dek to grab one out of the tack room, along with the other necessary items and he would be back soon. If not she would continue to watch Iosha and Moonfire.

Iosha smiled over at Cin-Cin when she accepted her invitation to the Twin Lakes. The konti was sure the stable manager needed to escape the heat too by her enthusiasm for the idea. When she starting talking about her white hawk, Iosha remembered the woman had a pet bird, but she forgot the hawk like bird of prey name. Luckily, Cin-Cin said his name, and Iosha immediately remembered the intelligent birds name was called,Try. Iosha smiled at Cin-Cin and said softly,
“I think I owe Try a fish for his assistance with being so helpful in the alley. Do you know your bird is vary protective of you? I was afraid he wouldn't have let be near you if you didn't tell him. I was safe to be around you.” Iosha listened to Cin-Cin explain that horses were still wild animals, so their survival instinct would kick if they were either trouble or dying. Iosha glanced at her horse for a moment and smiled to herself because she often worried about him dying if she wasn't around him every second of the day. Iosha listened the red head woman talk about some of the tricks the trainers do to keep the mounts cool and hydrated in the heat of the summer, and the konti was amazed at the amount of things a person could do to maintain a healthy horse during the summer season. When she heard Cin-Cin talk about healing the horses aliments with her gnosis mark, Iosha was about to ask if she could do it, but she decided not to in case it made her look like a idiot. Iosha blushed with a embarrassment and said with a chuckle, “I haven't thought my gnosis mark could heal a animal, but I guess it would make a lot of sense.”

Iosha watched her horse pace happily in the courtyard, and she turned to Cin-Cin who quickly started her introduction into horsemanship. The konti crossed her arms while she listened Cin-Cin talk about earning the animals trust. Cinny started talking about grooming and bathing the large animal as she walked towards Moonfire. Taking the rope, Iosha smiled at Cinny and said with a nod, “I shouldn't wash him in to warm of water?” Listening to Cinny advice about dominance, Iosha made a clicking sound with her teeth as she led Moonfire to the wall without even a glance and asked softly, “Do you have a horse of your own Cin-Cin?” The konti tied the rope to a peg on the wall, and she grabbed a bucket of water and a brush and set them down by the feet of the horse. Iosha looked up at Cin-Cin and asked softly, “Do you use soup and water to bath the horse?” Iosha picked up the brush and gently brushed the down the long white mane. She figured that she would brush the stuff looked like human hair first when the mane was nice and straight. She started to brush his black neck, shoulders and stomach. She looked up and Cin-Cin and asked, “Do you brush his back legs and tail too, or do you tend to skip them?” When she asked if her preference about using a saddle or bareback, skipping his backside of now, Iosha switched to the other side and started to brush. She said with a chuckle, “I use a saddle, Cin-Cin. I don't think I would be able to sit down for a week if I rode bareback for any length of time.” When Iosha was finished brushing, she walked up to him, patted his neck and said softly in Kontinese, “We are going to make you sparkle, boy.”

Cin-Cin chuckled at Iosha.
"Yes, Try would love a fish, it's one of his favorite foods." She chuckled again as she heard a small caw of a bird outside, one she figured had to be Try listening to their conversation.

She frowned though at the Konti's next comment, how her bird would not have let Iosha near if she hadnt told him it was okay. It was true.
"He wouldn't have trusted you, thats correct. He's not a very trusting animal and he is very protective of me. That's how we do things. I protect him, and he protects me. Although it seems as if he's saved my life, more than I have him. It's 2 to 0 actually."

Cin never liked thinking about it like that. She felt that she owed Try, that, although she never hoped she would need to save him, that she was more of something that needed protecting, rather than a friend. It was a silly thing to think, Cin knew that, but thats just how her head worked. She would always comfort herself with the thought that because she housed and fed Try, that that was saving him from the dangers of the outside, larger birds and stupid accidents that happen in the wild, like a crazed bear or sorts. But her head rumpled in worry until she sprang out of her daze as she heard the Konti speak again.

"I don't see how you 'gnosis mark' or whatever you call it, wouldn't work on animal. I mean, you are a Konti, correct? And I am an Inarta? Although we are both intelligent beings, we are different races and have different traits and looks about us. It's rather obvious actually. But see, if we are so different that just makes us two different species. Or, two different animals. Like I said earlier we are all just a bunch of animals. So if it works on you, a Konti, and it works on me, an Inarta. Why wouldn't it work on a horse?"

"I mean I could be wrong, but that just makes sense to me? Do you see what I'm getting at?"
To Cin-Cin everything that wasn't a plant or earth was an animal no matter how big, small, stupid or intelligent. If the Konti's magic worked on two different races, it should work on two different animals.

As Iosha began to groom her animal Cin watched as the girl patted the horse with care, and, like a diligent student, asked many question regarding the correct ways to do things.
"Iosha, there are really no bad ways to wash your horse. Just washing him is doing it right. Now since we are pressed on time we don't need to give him a full blown bath, just a quick brush and run over with water to fight the heat will do the trick. But after you wet him down you need to dry him up before we put his tack on."

That was when the Dek had returned with the saddle, bit, halter, reins, saddle pad and cloth that they would put on the horse since Iosha mentioned she couldn't do bareback. Which was understandable, she would have been surprised if she wanted to ride without the comfort of a saddle. Cin-Cin didnt think her or the horse we quite skilled enough to be comfortable with that.

Refering to Iosha's last question Cin answering quickly
"You can brush all of him, every bit, if you want to. Moonfire would just love that, but right now we need to put his saddle on, so hurry and dry him."

Cin-Cin would patiently wait a few chimes till the Konti had finished with her horse and he neighed contently. After she had finished Cin began to talk about what the Dek had brought them. "The things we have here are what we need to be able to ride your horse. We have the saddle first off. Each horse needs a different kind of saddle, the bigger the horse, the bigger the saddle. Moon fire is pretty average so we have a pretty average saddle. This is a riding saddle, made of leather. It's heavy, thick and comfy. I'm sure you know what this is used for, a seat for the rider. For you this one does not have stirrups. As a beginner you need to learn how to control Moonfire with your feet and stirrups are not right for you right now. Although on this saddle they can be attached later on."

"Now we have what goes under the saddle. This is called a saddle pad."
Cin said as she held up a thick and large pad of cloth. "This is used for both the comfort of the rider and the horse. This puts a nice bit of padding between the bones of the horse and the bits of the saddle."

"Then we have a blanket, made of simple wool. This goes under the saddle pad. This is used just so the friction between the moving saddle, which moved the saddle pad, is lessened and the horse is more comfortable with you on its back."

"Those three things are basically required if you are riding with a saddle, for maximum comfort. Now the reins,"
Cin said as she held up a long strip of leather with a hook on each end. "These are used to control your horse's direction. They are connected to either a halter or bit and bridle and you hold the middle of the strap in your hand."

"Now here is where you get a bit of a choice. You can either choice a bit and bridle, which is a thin cylinder of metal that goes into the horses mouth and is connected to the reins, to control your horse. Or you can get a halter which are straps of thickly woven cloth hat go around your horses head and are connected to the reins."
Here Cin held up each one in each hand. "Now I prefer the halter just because it is easier on the horse and its more comfortable for them. The halter is used for easy and lazy riding. The bit and bridle is used for more serious things like riding on the edge of a mountain, or as a warhorse. Of course there are less serious things to use it for, thats just how I would use it. Anyway I recommend the halter while you are learning because it will be better for both of you."

"And that's it for the equipment. I'll let you look through it all and decide on the whether you want a halter or bit. Also just so you know: We give you the equipment for free when you are doing lessons. But for that ride to the Twin Lakes, you are going to have to buy your own. And we sell all this stuff here, you can even buy these ones right here."
Cin-Cin smiled at the girl. If the Konti didn't have these things already the Inarta was about the make a big sale!

Equipment :
I see that you have most of this stuff already, but you are missing a blanket. Which of course can just be a bit big peice of plane wool. In the Price List it mentions a Blanket and Hood, and you really don't need a hood so I suggest getting a yard or two from under Trade Goods. But whatever you want. Also you have a Bit and Bridle, which looks like this. And like cin said I do suggest changing that to a halter. Also you are going to need reins. (Which is not on the price list so I'm going to give an estimate.)

Halter 1sm
Blanket 1sm-1gm
Reins ~2gm

Iosha listened intently to Cin-Cin's logic on her gnosis mark It made a lot of sense that her healing gnosis mark would work on both animals and mortals, so she said with a smile,
“Thank you Cin-Cin. You have opened my eyes to new possibilities with my goddess's gnosis. Maybe I will try it next time I see a wounded animal.” As Iosha was brushing her horse, Cin-Cin started to answer her questions about the correct way to wash her horse, so after her brushing the horse, she grabbed a bucket of water and a clean wash cloth, dipped it into the cool water, and started wiping the wet cloth on the body of the horse. The konti gently reapplied the water to the cloth and started wiping down the back and sides of the Moon fire. The horse seemed to be enjoying it since the heat of the day was almost unbearable. When Iosha heard Cin-Cin order to dry the horse, she quickly grabbed a large towel and started to pat down horse. Luckily, the heat helped with the evaporation and the water on the horse started to quickly dry. Out of the corner of her eye, Iosha noticed a Dek brought some more horse riding equipment like a saddle, reins, and a blanket, but the other equipment the konti wasn't familiar with, so she waited for Cin-Cin to explain the new gear for her.

Cin-Cin started to show Iosha the important accessories for the saddle. Iosha already bought the saddle pad, but she didn't by the blanket. She was already starting to care for her horse, so she looked at him bit her bottom lip and said sorry to him in Kontinese. She made a mental note to buy a nice quality one for her horse. When the Inarta mention that she didn't need the stirrups as a beginner. Iosha asked softly, “I bought a riding saddle similar to the one here, but I don't understand why a beginner wouldn't use them. Sorry Cini, I might be getting ahead of myself too.” Iosha immediately blushed when she gave the young woman a nickname, and the healer looked at the ground and apologized, “Sorry, I have a bad habit of giving people nicknames. I hope you are not offended by it.” The conversation went to the next piece of equipment the halter, and Cin-Cin explained the differences and the benefits of both the bit and bridle and halter. Iosha didn't understand that each set of equipment were used at different times. When Cin-Cin was done explaining the difference, the konti nodded to her and made another mental note buy a halter too.

When Cin-Cin held up the reins, Iosha put a hand on her scaly forehead and shook her head at her stupidity. Realizing in the spring, She was so exited to buy the beautiful animal that she forget three of the most essential equipment for riding. Iosha looked at the new equipment and said softly, “I will buy the nicest saddle blanket, a halter, and...the reins.” The Konti fished into her money pouch and fished out the money needed to by the extra equipment. Iosha smiled weakly at Cin-Cin and said with a laugh, “I must scream novice rider to you. Don't I? Well I guess this is reason I am taking riding lessons.” Iosha walked over to her horse, hugged his neck, and said in kontinese, “Sorry Moon fire. I promise to be a better rider for you. Can you forgive me?” The horse just looked at her and let out a loud neigh and stomped his feet. Iosha looked him and said to Cin-Cin, “Sorry, I talk to him in Kontinese. I hope the stable hands don't mind if he learns another language other than common.”
