39th Day of Summer, 513 AV 13th Bell "No! I am not staying locked up in this damn room for one bell longer!" Edreina shouted, indignant expression and lank hair causing her to appear very un-Edreina. The object of her anger was the healer who was trying to usher her back to the bed. There was no point in it! None! Her shoulder had not pained her enough to warrant any relieving herbs or other such remedies in a full day. And besides, she didn't exactly plan on going out swimming on her first day since being injured, she just needed to get out of this place. It smelled like sickness and there was no sun, no fresh air in this stupid petching fortress-city. Again the slight woman tried to deny Edreina, appearing incredibly steadfast in her decision that Edreina was to remain under her watchful eye for a day more. I'll never get out of here if I keep trying to do it the right way... she realized, backing down just a hair. The woman took this as an indicator of her exhaustion and quickly shoo'ed her back to the bed. Satisfied that her work had been accomplished, the woman fluffed Edreina's pillow and then left, assuring her on her way out that she would be free to go tomorrow. For a moment, Edreina sat silently upon the bed, elbows resting on her knees and fists tucked under her chin. She had never been a very sneaky woman, hell she could not even lie effectively. But she wanted, no, she needed to get out of here! She would have to try; she would have to sneak. Lucky for her, there were no belongings she had to gather in order to make her escape. She just had to get herself out of here. As silently as she could manage, Edreina crept over to the door and rested her hand upon the handle. But wait, what if someone was outside, in the corridor? Pausing in her escape, Edreina pressed one ear to the door. She heart no footsteps, so it must be clear... As quickly as she could without making the door squeak, she opened the door and darted into the hallway, not even bothering to close it behind her for fear that it would make too much noise. Taking long, tip-toed steps, Edreina made her way through the hallway and to the its intersection with the hall that would, hopefully, lead her out of here. When she had come to this place, Edreina had been unconscious, so finding her way out was a one in ten shot. The hallway to her left had a steady breeze, so she had to assume that it lead to an exit. At least, that was what her spelunking instincts told her. Without hesitating for another tick, Edreina bounded around the corner- -and crashed headlong into another figure, sending her stumbling backwards and eventually falling flat on her read end. Shyke... Brushing back her hair, Edreina looked up to see who had foiled her escape. |
