BASIC INFORMATION Race: Kelvic (Maned Wolf) Gender: Female Age: 2 Birthday: 6th Fall, 510 AV Birthplace: Ravok
APPEARANCE Human Description
At the above average height of 5’9”, Ceira proves to be an imposing figure with a tall and slim frame that she gained from her height as an animal. Her long and wavy auburn hair rolls down in waves to the small of her back, with darker coloured roots and bangs that frame a creamy oval-shaped face. A pert nose overshadows full lips (which hide slightly elongated canines) and a stubborn chin. Ceira believes her eyes are her most unique feature, with them being a deep brown, almost-black colour, shot through with gold flecks, similar to her animal form.
Ceira usually travels in a pair of dusty tan pants and a white (well, maybe not-so-white anymore) shirt. Over this, she usually wear a mottled brown cloak to either block the sun or to shelter from the cold. This cloak also hides the Dagger she carries at her hip. Even with a pair of boots, she prefers to go barefoot when possible, though she has to wear them in cities.
Animal Description
Maned Wolves have been commonly referred to as a stilted version of the Red Fox, even though they are in actual fact not related to either a fox or a wolf closely.
In her animal form, Ceira is about 3 feet tall at shoulder length (a metre or so if counting full height) and weighs around 50 pounds, give or take a few depending on the seasons. Her coat of fur is seen to be predominately orange and red, with her namesake black mane a greater length on her neck. Black fur can also be seen to cover the bottom of her elongated legs, more so on the hind legs and the same black fur colours the top of her large ears. A white tip adorns her tail and under her jawline, which then fades into the reddish-brown fur around her neck.
There is no preference or discrimination between her forms, she loves them both equally and it is only the practicality of a situation that determines her choice of form at the time. A light sprinkling of now-healed knife marks adorns her back, with a larger jagged scar that crosses from the nape of her neck to the bottom of her left shoulder blade and is seen on both forms (Although due to her fur, it may be harder to spot).
CHARACTER HISTORY Ravok was where it all started; being born to a Tabby Cat Kelvic mother and a human father, as one half of a set of twins. Her twin sister, Niia, was a small Hawk. As a result of this, Ceira was never shy about expressing who she really was, especially at night, when their mother often took the twins outside the city walls for lessons in their animal forms. Only in public did her parents attempt to stifle their animalistic side, to try and blend in with the crowd.
Ceira didn’t understand at the time why they had to be kept a secret. Little did she realise this was her parents allowing them to develop to their full potential and their own way of protecting them from poachers, slavers or anyone who wanted to make a quick Miza off Kelvics.
It was a trip to the markets that turned into an eye-opening experience for the one-and-a-half year old Ceira, to say the least. Whilst their mother’s back was turned for just a moment, both her and her twin sister had lost themselves in between the market stalls. Stumbling to the edge of the crowd, she urged her sister to revert to her Hawk form to hopefully spot where their mother was, her sister protested, remembering their mother’s rules of shifting outside their house without supervision. Still, Ceira persuaded her to look.
Niia circled high a couple of times, before landing next to Ceira again. But even before she could shift and tell Ceira where their mother was, rough hands pulled both of them into the shadier streets of Ravok. Slavers. They had seen Niia’s shift and were quick on making the most of this surprising opportunity.
They spent the night in collars, the next day a possible buyer came to inspect the slavers wares. They took an interest in Niia, as Ceira had refused to show the slavers her form, even though they suspected she was Kelvic from the way she acted when they attempted to 'persuade' her to show them. Niia was meant to be the pet for a young human child and she was dragged off, away from the compound.
It was a few days later that another buyer had purchased Ceira, liking the challenge of taming an unknown Kelvic. Although when they had come to inspect her animal form once more, she retaliated. As soon as the collar was loosened she made her escape, transferring to her Maned Wolf, surprising the slavers. Whilst dodging the attempts made to grab her, she was tracking her sisters worn-out scent and managed to find the house Niia’s buyer lived in.
Breaking in, she found her sister in the playroom with the child, already bonded. She tried to convince her sister to go home with her, but Niia refused, the family was nice to her - thats how she formed the connection with the child. When the toddler had decided to latch onto Ceira’s leg, she pried it away none too gently. Her sister took this as a sign of danger to her charge, instantly switching to her Hawk and whilst alerting the household with screeches, flittered around Ceira, attempting an attack.
Ceira, horrified at her own sister’s animosity, decided to flee. Hearing the footsteps rush towards the room, she charged through the door, knocking attackers backwards before shifting back to her Maned Wolf, stopping most of them coming near her. Whilst still escaping the authorities, she made her way home. A quick explanation to her worried parents and a small amount of packing was all she had time for before she left, not wanting to let the authorities trace her back to her parents.
She exited the city, still hurt from the actions of her sister and still somewhat fearful of capture. Her previous training with her mother kicked in, as well as her instincts. She tracked and hunted game whist also occasionally hitchhiking on the back of a merchant caravan or with other travelers, eventually leading her all the way to Zeltiva.
CHARACTER CONCEPT From an early age, Ceira has learnt to be suspicious - whether it was from beady-eyed slavers or of the everyday person. This, coupled with the nomadic and solitary nature of a Maned Wolf, has moulded her to become somewhat laid-back from most social interactions, though this doesn’t mean that she’s shy, oh, she's not shy at all - she will often talk you into the ground. Although once engaged, she proves to be a stubborn, sarcastic person that has a fiery temper to match. Even with these headstrong traits, she sometimes has a good amount of patience and can be polite or nice when needed. Whilst she can occasionally get angry, she doesn’t hold a grudge for long and is in general a very easy-going person. A naïve streak with endless curiosity also surrounds her person and it is this certain attitude that often causes her to get in trouble.
Although, once Ceira does make somewhat of a friend, or at the very least, an acquaintance, she will be fiercely protective. She will defend her friends if they're right, and be one of the first people to tell them if they're in the wrong. She's loyal to a fault, and will be one of the first people to jump into a fight.
Ceira, like all Kelvics, is able to feel that pull towards the need for a bond. She cannot deny it, nor can she ignore it. Although, yes, she can occasionally find it a tad annoying. Even so, she embraces it and longs for a reciprocated relationship, to someone she can trust and not be afraid to be loyal and generous to. She will wait for the right person though, no matter how long it takes.
Ceira likes to believe that she is morally ‘good’ and has a satisfactory level of ethics, although this is sometimes overshadowed with her sarcastic and volatile nature. Even when she is insulting someone, there does seem to be a degree of courtesy lining her words. This is a great weakness for Ceira, as when she is aggravated at someone, she tends to mouth off a great deal, ignoring the consequences and often creating more trouble for herself.
Crime, Ceira noticed, is a part of life. Everywhere you go, trouble is sure to be there, whether it be small thefts and cutpurses to large scale murder. She understands this - although the one thing she will not tolerate is Slavery. She despises slavery, loathes it even. Seeing the wide-eyed and empty stares of the slaves as their fate is sealed angers her to no end. She is especially disgusted by the slavers of Kelvics, yes, she is biased in this way, but she believes that to gain profit from something like the bond is appalling. Ceira sees the bond as somewhat sacred and that is should not be misused to gain a larger sale.
Ceira has a fear of large crowds or enclosed spaces and tends to avoid any situations that may cause her to be surrounded or found in a 'tight' spot. She is unsure how this phobia came to occur (although she suspects it is from when she lost her mother in the market or from the cages she was kept in), but it has often stopped her from taking advantage many opportunities.
