5th of Summer 513 A.V
It was in the early tenth bell, sailors rushing towards the taverns for their long expected drinks after long at sea. The residents of Ravok filled the pathways of the docks, to them it was a perfect summer morning, the sun shining, However for a woman pushed her way through the crowd, a look of absolute terror covered her face for she was not alone.
Assilsa’s breath caught in her throat, coughing she stumbled though the crowd. Her muscles ached and her legs burn but she couldn’t stop she had to keep running. Four men chased after her, pushing people out of the way, Assilsa had made the mistake of walking past the slave traders, now she had run, her black hair catching the wind as she weaved in and out of the crowds.
She didn’t care that her fangs were showing that her eyes burned a fire red or even that people where avoiding her, if anything it just gave her more room to escape. Assilsa had considered retreating to the rooves however she would become more noticeable. She had no choice but to continue to run.

The dockside had grown easier for Elysana as the weeks had gone by. Certainly, the catcalls and unwanted advances were still there, but they frightened her much less now. The Ebonstryfe appreciated the work of the house, so girls were well protected when they chose to go outside.

Elysana felt beads of sweat begin to form on her brow. Despite the summer heat, she wore her cloak with the hood up. Despite the external precautions, she felt better with a slight degree of anonymity. Stopping at a fruit vendor, she purchased a peach. The vendor gave her a lecherous look that made her skin crawl, but she returned the look with interest as she paid. It was a few coppers short of the proper price, but she knew he wouldn’t notice. The price of a smile. She bit into the peach. It was nearly over-ripe, and the juice dripped down her chin onto her cloak.

She hid her face as she moved towards the slave market. Despite her status in the house, she was not a citizen, and probably a fugitive too, and one wrong word to the wrong person could be the end of her. Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted a Symenestra running at her down the street. While she never seem one before, she had heard enough stories that the woman was unmistakable. What was likewise unmistakable was the look of complete terror on her face. Looking beyond, she saw four men who she recognized as local slavers. While she recognized that slavery was a part of Ravok, the idea of snatching someone right off the street in broad daylight made her uneasy.
She made a split second decision. She grabbed the passing woman by the arm and pulled her into a nearby alley.

“Shhh. Don’t worry. I’m trying to help you. I don’t think they saw us go in here.”

Taking off her cloak, she draped it around the woman.

“Take this. It should conceal you a bit.”

Fragile… Oh fragile spider. [Serenity]

Assilsa stood there wrapped in this kind woman’s cloak to shocked to move, her red eyes both pleading and crying out towards the people or even her beloved god. Her stomach tightened as the woman spoke in hushed tones that made Assilsa even more uneasy, the darken alley seem the best place for the slave traders not herself. Assilsa opened her mouth attempting to say something to the suspicious woman but no words formed, only the sharp rasps of her breath could be heard.
As her crescent claws shook against the rough wool of the simple cloak, Assilsa took a step back attempting to melt into the shadows of the Alley. Turning her shaky gaze towards the woman, the first thing that Assilsa noticed was the way she composed herself, high standard, this woman certainly held herself as if she was important.
Assilsa tried again to explain her situation to the woman once more but as soon as the choked sound came out the Slavers stood in the entrance to the alley. Each one of them with their faces twisted with malevolence, twice the size of Assilsa’s fragile frame each of them posing their own unique danger. Her eyes filled with Panic and she begun to edge further down the cold wall that chilled her spine.
Assilsa watched as the woman was still watching her with concerned eyes and had yet to noticed the burly men behind her.
“…Behind… You… Sibea…”
With a clawed hand as shaky as her voice Assilsa pointed over the shoulder of the woman. Taking multiple steps back.

With slavers closing in around them, Elysana began to regret the decision to go into the alley. Still, she had to try something.

Pulling herself up straight, she addressed the closest slaver.

“Away. You cannot have her now.”

The slaver laughed menacingly and raised a burly arm.

“Out of the way, whore. I wouldn’t want to hurt that pretty face of yours. Might cost me more than this spider you’re so intent on protecting. But it would be worth it though. I hear you’re one of the ones whose doesn’t like to be hit.”

Ely grimaced. There was really nothing she could do against this. They had every right to take this woman as a slave, and as a non-citizen, there was nothing she could legally do to stop them. Being outnumbered four to one didn’t help either.

Looking past the lead slaver to the others, she got a flash of inspiration.
“Yuvon, oh Yuvon!”

The slavers turned to their companion Yuvon, startled. His face reddened under a bushy black beard.
“Umm, yeah…”

“You know that thing I do, that you like so much? Have you tried to teach your wife how to do it yet? Should I try?”

It was an insane ploy. For all she knew, Yuvon didn’t actually have a wife. Or maybe he didn’t care anyway. However, after seeing the way his face went red, she figured she had a good shot.

One of the other slavers playfully shoved Yuvon’s shoulder.

“Well, at least you’re not doing it with boys.”

Yuvon groaned and pushed his way towards Elysana. He took a handful of her hair and pulled her closed. She squealed and struggled to get away, but his hold was too tight.

“Listen to me, whore. That’s the last petching time you mention that. We’ll let you go this time, because I doubt that spider would be any good as a slave anyway. But next time, it’ll be you in chains.”

He pushed her to the ground and turned away, his companions at his heels. They spat insults as they left the alley.

Ely looked up at the woman, a pained grin on her face.

“See? Wasn’t so bad.”

Assilsa’s breath steadied as she watched the they leave however they Had assaulted this kind woman… The cloak slowly fell from her bare shoulders revealing her fragile frame in the beautiful corset, the vibrant red shone compared to her pale skin and the beautiful patterns made Assilsa look like a simple whore, she had been going towards that to ask for food. As the cloak landed on the ground with a gush of wind Assilsa stood in confidence looking unarmed.
“You are all… How dare you do that to someone how doesn’t deserve it… Azo… You are all just meat!”
Assilsa hissed and strode confidently in front of the woman, placing herself exactly in between the Slavers and the kind woman, they spun around with feral eyes.
“What did you call us spider?!”
She hisses again as she felt her incisors lengthen, baring them she lifted the leg of her left trouser leg to reveal her Lash wrapped around her leg. Tapping the bone hilt with her black nails, she watched the rush towards her with a new feeling, was it almost bloodlust.
“Didn’t you hear me? I called you meat, Azo”
Pulling on the handle the Symenestran lash unwrapped itself from her thigh and let the knife like tail fall to the ground. Knowing she would regret this later.

Fragile… Oh fragile spider. [Serenity]

Elysana couldn’t believe what was happening. At one moment, the spider woman was running for her life, consumed by panic. The next, she was taunting her pursuers and seemly getting ready for a fight. She felt a mixture of anger and fear. Everything had been fine! The slavers had be going away, and if that spider woman had just kept her mouth shut, no one would have gotten hurt. As it was, they were trapped in a blind alley.

Between Elysana and the main street stood the four slavers as well as the spider woman, whom, at this point, Ely did not count as a firm ally. With no hope of escape, she grabbed up her cloak and tried to find the darkest corner possible, hoping they would just forget about her.

The spider woman stood ready for a fight. Each of the slavers hefted a simple wooden club. Adequate enough for their usual work, but she suspected they might not be up to the task against intense opposition. Despite her panic, she couldn't help but reflect on the irony of slavers getting attacked with a whip.

Elysana dared not intervene. These men were citizens, and if she attacked one, her life would be forfeit. Even being here, with a non-human attacking slavers, put her in a dangerous situation. If the Ebonstryfe learned that she had aided a violent outsider, she would be arrested, then who knows what would happen.

As these possibilities ran through her head, she curled up under her cloak, so anxious she could hardly breathe. The sounds of struggle around her continued, and she pleaded with all the gods she knew that no one from the street noticed.

Assilsa was bluffing of course, in no way would she cause a fight like this if she knew they were going to actually attack. Bearing her fangs and making herself look as scary as possible Assilsa hissed.
“Now! I want you to leave me alone!”
Her voice came out in eerie confidence that she didn’t even know she possessed, Assilsa could feel the woman behind her shy away, that gave her the perfect idea.
“If I am injured you would have the Entire Symenestrain race after you for killing a leading family!”
Yet another bluff but it did cause the men to pause in their movements. As the began whispering to each other
“Reckon she kidding?”
Their broken common repulsed Assilsa, but she took this as a time to run. Edging so she was in front of the woman Assilsa tapped her with her foot.
“Care to join me upon the rooves?”

Elysana closed her eyes, but the sound of violence never came. Instead, she felt something prodding her leg. When she looked up, she found the spider woman want poking her.

“Care to join me upon the roofs?”

Ely stared at her dumbstruck for a moment, then quickly nodded. The spider woman reached down a hand to help her up. With surprising strength, she pulled Ely onto the roof. The roofs of Ravok were gently sloping slate,

Still trembling from fright, Ely looked down to see the slavers looking confusedly at each other, and then leave the alley.

She collapsed back onto the roof tiles and looked at the woman.

“What was all that? What did I get myself into?”
