A Good Way to Know [The Red Diamond Tavern]

Nassella was very pleased with how her night was going so far. She had met her first kelvic and was still probing it for new information. Mino was very compliant and kind, and Nassella was beginning to enjoy her company as she wrote in her journal and sipped her water.

While she was writing, she felt something strange in the back of her mind that caused her to look up. She looked around the room, though nothing really seemed to be amiss. She shrugged it off and continued to write. Though again the feeling entered her mind, and she looked up from writing again.

Downstairs stories were still being told, food being eaten, and company being enjoyed. Though something felt odd to her, something irked her. When she looked at all the patrons upstairs, she noticed one in particular, who shot her a momentarily angry look. Nassella pretended not to notice, and acted as though she was looking at something else on the other side of the room. She waited until the man looked at her again, and she met his eyes. Nassella smiled a sheepishly raising a few fingers in a lazy wave. Though something about the man made her feel like she didn't belong there.

Nassella definitely didn't want to make any enemies, and it was only her second day in the city. She decided to ignore the man, not wanting to offend him, and returned to her writing. She waited for the more answers from the kelvic, forming new questions already. Though the man across the room stayed in her mind, like an itch that won't go away. Maybe she should talk to him? But then again, what if she had already made him dislike her. Worry and anxiety was beginning to swell up in her chest. She started scribbling even more furiously in an attempt to distract herself.

A Good Way to Know [The Red Diamond Tavern]

Postby Vidar on July 25th, 2013, 4:40 pm

It was apparent when she caught his eye that he'd been caught. He gave a soft sigh of frustration. Though for now she did not seem to be a threat he still knew her kind. He was not like his kin, very trusting and generous to all their guests. He'd seen the outside word, he'd gone south and he knew what horrors lie out there.

He stood in silence, and departed the upstairs for a moment. Making his way down stairs, his eyes shooting her one last glance before leaving the comforting second floor. Picking his way across the floor he found himself talking to the bar keep. Their chatter was simple, nothing eloquent, he couldn't fully devout himself to their conversation as his mind kept drifting to the creature lurking upstairs. The barkeep, a cousin of a cousin, granted him a favor and gave him a frothy drink. He moved his way back across the floor after thanking him and went back up stairs, his eyes finding her once more. He moved to his usual spot and sipped upon his drink. Enjoying the warmth it brought him.

His body was tired and sore after the long week of traveling, as he recounted the events of his journey his hand scratched his thick beard, and occasionally his fingers played with the beads woven into the coarse hair. His eyes darted to her less often now as he was lost in his own world, his look of distrust all but gone.

Here in public he had no need to worry about her, they were fragile creatures, faster than he, but generally weak creatures. His mind now adrift in another time, his hands brought the mug to his lips where he sipped softly at the liquid inside. He preferred the drink of Avanthal over those of the south.

Curiosity Killed the Cat....

Image

Whatever in all the world had brought this curiosity driven little creature to an Inn of all places was anyone's guess. More than likely she had heard or smelled something that had caused her curiosity to pique, and her mind to wander. As her brain was adrift with the random thoughts that often took her attention, the slender female made her way through the few people milling about, and simply pushed her way through the doors, small slender hands gripped around the inside edge by the time she had poked her way through the opening she had created.[/left]
A thick coil of black braid was wound at the top of her head, tied firmly in place by a single black cord, on which hung a tiny carving. Upon further inspection one would be able to see the baby and cradle, intricate little designs making it a very unique piece. Proof she had taken her usual necklace and used it to secure her rather lengthy hair. The light within the tavern itself glimmered delicately off the brilliant violet highlights that seemed to accent the otherwise pitch black mass of braid. It was her eyes, set in that softly tanned doll like face, that glimmered outwards and truly captured the light. Violet hues flecked with a vivid gold, and several lighter shades of purple, peered from face to face in quiet perusal.

There was no anger nor violence in her features. Instead a curiosity which seemed to drive her. As she moved through the first floor itself, her hands grasping the thickly furred cloak around her lithe frame closed, the chill of the outdoors still clinging to her body, her rather zig zagging path made it perfectly clear she had not come here for any particular reason. Further so, she seemed to just wander. First she stopped near a table, listening silently to someones conversation, before they gave her a rather odd look, and, red faced, she was forced to move on. Next was an interesting looking bit of debris on the floor, which she nudged with a booted toe, before she turned away. Lastly, she stepped up to the bar, her slender fingers leaving the lapels of the cloak and gracing the edge of the bartop, against which she leaned her own short five feet and four inch frame as if she needed the support..though that was highly doubtful.

The pale tip of her tongue tucked between her lips, but she didn't order anything. Instead she watched. Faces, movements, mouths. Ever watchful, as if everything held some kind of hidden knowledge with which she might unlock some seriously enthralling secret.

...mine hasn't killed me yet!

A Good Way to Know [The Red Diamond Tavern]

Mino looked from Nassella to a Vantha who had given Nass a dirty look and scrunched her nose, "Don't worry about him. Kay?" She patted Nassella on the knee and gave her a smile.

"Morwen?! The goddess of winter!? She lives here! She leaves because she visits the god of summer. As for whom I know... I know a bunch of people mainly Frostfawns, they're good with animals. With the Vantha it's all about last names, it says what they do for a living."

"There's Frostfawn they do Animal Husbandry, Bird Keeping, Falconry, Horsemanship, Hunting, Riding, Tracking, Trapping, and Wilderness Survival. They feel like animals are part of their family. There's always fresh meat around because of the hunting."

"Skyglow people are artists. They carve, paint, sew, and draw. The biggest honor for Morwen to hang it in her palace. The Sculpture Yard and The Temple of Everwinter also have their paintings displayed there!"

"Snowsongs are the musical masters, singing and writing poems. I've heard they will teach you to play an instrument if you ask them."

"Winterfire Vantha make and bake really yummy things! Most members work at the Luminary Commons, the Crystal Cavern, or the Market Place. They also garden, I don't know how they do it. Maybe they know some magic!"

"Iceglaze build things! Houses, furniture, and everything else. They use something called Icestone."

"Whitevine is the medic hold. If you get hurt, go to them. They do have a clinic."

"Coolwaters fish. That's all I know about them..."

When asked if she could read she gave a weak guilty smile and her cheeks reddened , "I've tried to learn..But.." She shrugged.

After scribbling down all the answers that Mino had given her, Nassella smiled when Mino told her she couldn't read. She told Mino that her language was complex and elegant, and considered attempting to to teach her one day. Though once she finished writing and her glass of water was empty, Nassella told herself it was time to confront her potential problems. Excusing herself from the conversation, she told Mino that she would return momentarily.

After speaking with the man, she began to start back towards Mino, though something else caught her eyes. Nassella returned to Mino just to inform her that yet again, she would return after another conversation with someone who had caught her interests.

Finally, after speaking with two others, Nassella returned to her own table. "Please forgive me for my distractions. I was dedicated to writing as much as possible tonight." Nassella returned to scribbling in her journal for another while, and when she finished, she finally turned back to the kelvic. With a great sigh, looking exhausted from all of the conversing, dodging, and learning. She was not quite finished with herself yet unfortunately.

She had a few final questions to ask the kelvic and then Nassella would return to her cabin and succumb to the sleepiness. She erected herself in her chair, filtered through her mind to make these last few questions worthwhile, and threw out her final wave of questions. "What is your favorite thing about being kelvic? Do you enjoy the way you are? Would you pick another animal if you could? Just tell me everything you know about yourself and other kelvics."

Readying herself for the return, Nassella leaned over her journal and awaited the answers.

OOCSorry about the lack of dialog early on, it was mostly just a place holder for me to keep organized how the three conversations would flow in a linear fashion.

A Good Way to Know [The Red Diamond Tavern]

Nassella's first question made Mino stop and think. She had never really thought about anything like this. Being so simple minded a question like this was like asking the meaning of life, which her answer to the meaning of life would of been serving a master. Mino looked up innocently, "I dunno, pulling a sled is pretty fun."

Mino shifted how she sat, "Yes, I like how I am. Although I've never been anything else. So I don't have anything to compare it to. It would be fun to be a seal for a day, don't you think? Splashing around and swimming, plus they look so huggable!" Mino gave a warm smile, she liked seals.

"Miss Lady, all Kelvics are different. The few things we share are, most want a master and/or bondmate. A bondmate is a human partner whom loves us as their mate. We want to please and help said master or bondmate. Those who don't want a master form sort of feral groups with a dominant leader, some of them even migrate from place to place."

Mino studied Nassella whom looked very sleepy in her opinion, and after a look at the clock (which she had her own odd way of understanding) she deemed it was very late. "Hey, you look really sleepy and it's late. Let me take you back to where your staying. If you want we could take a small sled if you don't want to walk."

Once she finished writing down everything Mino had told her, she closed her journal and looked around the tavern once more. When she noticed Mino looking at the clock, she glanced that way too. It was getting fairly late, and she was still tired from her journey that had just ended the day prior. She stretched herself out, glancing at the table. Her glass of water nearly empty, Nassella grabbed it, swirled the last of its clear liquid around, and finished it off.

Upon returning the glass to the table, Mino offered to walk back to Nassella's cabin with her. Mino even offered a sled ride. Nassella had never been on a sled before and thought it would be rather fun.

"I would very much enjoy a sled ride, if that's not too much of a problem. I've never been on one before, and I am rather tired."

OOCSorry about the time it took to get this out! I went on a vacation with my family. I'm also sorry about the length, I just wanted to hurry and get something out :P Sorry again for the wait!

"Okay! There should be one or two outside we could use." Mino rose to her feet and brushed off her dress. Mino held out a hand to Nassella, "Come on I'll take you to them." She led Nassella to the area of the sleds.

"Now there is one thing you'll have to help with, as I can't buckle myself in as a dog." Mino chuckled at this and proceded to set up the lead to the sled. "Now all you need to do is click these, here under my neck, this one under my tummy, and this one behind my back. It's simple!" She gave the sled another once over.

"Alright I'm going to go change and I'll be right back." Mino made a sprint to the female restroom and pulled her dress off over her head. She folded it and placed it one the floor. Then she transformed. She returned the dress to it's proper place.

Mino pranced back to Nassella happily. She took her place at the lead and waited for Nassella to strap her in and the ride could begin

OOC :
It's fine, glad you're back. So just click Mino in the harness. BTW where is she staying? and would you like to have mino take nasse to some other places in some other threads?

Nassella fumbled about with the first buckle, but after a moment, she figured it out.... For the most part. The second two buckles weren't as difficult, perhaps it was just the position of the under buckle? Nassella would write about it in her journal later, if she remembered at all.

The snow was colder than she remembered, after sitting with the warm fire in the tavern keeping away all signs of a chilly night. Pulling her cloak tighter around herself, Nassella climbed onto the sled and tried to become as small as possible in order to keep her heat close.

OOCNassella is staying in the Savintar Warrens for now. And yeah, having Mino take her places sounds awesome :D

Mino looked back to check that Nassella was secure and comfortable, seeing she was the sled began moving foreward slowly and gently. Normally Mino would go speeding off in pursuit of whatever game they were hunting.... But this was a leisurely ride for Nassella and a chance for her to see the beautiful snowy city at night. She took a longer way to the Savintar Warrens than normal. The stars and soft lights made they city so fairytale like and Mino hoped Nassella was enjoying if not loving it.

Minosayaa Pulled up to the Warrens after a nice little ride. She stayed to make sure Nassella made it inside safely and gave her a bark Goodnight, see you soon!
