Bones managed to catch Laurie off guard, by linking up a swipe of his foot just after he deflected the motion of her punch. She was caught by surprise, and nearly tumbled back. As it was, she was tripped up to a degree, even if she was not totally leveled. He could have attacked right then, given her an onslaught of blows, but he thought better of it. Besides, it would be boring to end it so fast... Plus, he had quite a few different styles in his repertoire, basic straightforward unarmed just being one of them. So instead he gave her a moment to attack. When he saw her coming at him, a look of concentration covered his face, as he let her bore down. He let her get close, and then saw as she moved to slip around to try and kick him. But he was to observant, and easily saw it, and so he reacted to her maneuver, turning to face it head on, and bringing up his own leg a bit to catch the kick ankle to ankle, avoiding her actual foot, and blocking her momentum. Now though, he was in grappling range, a place were his wrestling skills ruled supreme. Instead of stopping or throwing a punch, he launched himself at her in a mix between a tackle and a hug, and tried to wrap his arms around her to pin her arms, while also moving forward with all his weight. That way, even if she managed to get her arms free before he pinned them, he would still likely end up crashing into her in a tackle with his arms wrapped around her, which with his greater size and weight was quite formidable. Whether pinning her arms worked or not, it would be simple enough to continue his motion and to use his weight to tackle into her, and to try and take her straight down to the ground, leaving him on top of her. Or at least, that was his plan. |
