Appearance
Vanari is tall for a Vantha girl and her weight fluctuates, depending on how well she spins her tales and how generous her audience feels. Her hair is dark, with soft curls usually cropped short--starkly nontraditional compared to the long braids of her kinswomen, but cut to match her nomadic and sometimes non-female friendly lifestyle. It changes in length as she travels, but she prefers to keep it chin length. In certain lighting, her hair may gleam and shimmer various colors ranging from orange to peach to gold. Similarly, her eyes also subtly shift in tawny and copper hues, though they are richer in color and shift depending on her mood.
While not quite a head turner--especially not in her dusty, drab travel wear--the Vantha native possesses a pleasant, oval face, small but full lips, and an olive complexion. She is slender but athletic and hardy, as all Vantha are. Her two worst traits are probably her small, stubby nose and long but rather meaty hands. She has calluses from her craft as a wood carver and she wears whatever she has on hand at the moment.

Outwardly, Vanari is quiet and tends to avoid attention--a bit of a feat on its own because of her height. Strangers have given her all kinds of labels: reserved, nice, arrogant, simple, composed, and dull. She absolutely hates the last one. Such names are not all unfounded, as insolence and recklessness sometimes pepper her otherwise pleasant mood. Despite all of this, she is quite the talker and eager to be your friend, once that door is safely opened.
In private, Vanari is as loud and crude as you'd least expect. Her laugh is obnoxious and sudden. She knocks things over. Her elbows always manage to ram themselves on the sides of doorways. Publicly, the Vantha bachelorette is able to maintain a visage of respectable composure, but in reality she'd much rather wolf down her lamb shanks and liberally scratch her privates whenever she felt the need. Punching a vile person in the face is one of her many well-nursed fantasies, a dream she has realized a handful of times along her adventures.
Raised in Skyglow hold, she is adept with visual arts, a dabbler in the others, and is a true performer at heart. One of her favorite (and also most dreaded places) is the stage. The idea of being up there is always unnerving, but seems to grant her permission to be someone else--or perhaps, just her most uninhibited self.

A lonely heart, she believes, is better than a bored one.

History
Despite having being born en route to Avanthal, Vanari's childhood was, in a word, stable. Her parents worked hard weaving and sculpting, though more for practical reasons than passionate. Unlike others within Skyglow hold, and in spite of her deep reverence for Morwen, the unusually tall Vantha girl had no aspiration to display her creations in her goddess's famed ice palace. This was because she had seen art from the outside world--an intriguing set of drawings kindly shown to her by a rare traveler--and could no longer see the ice palace as the greatest height to reach.
Vanari's long journey from home, however, was not something she ever thought would happen in her lifetime. One morning, as her 18 year old self was getting dressed for breakfast, her mother came quietly to her room and sat her down. There was a twinkle in the master sculptor's eyes as she revealed the good news: Vanari, her eldest daughter, was to be married to Tirelin of Iceglaze.
Her mother mistook her horror for speechless joy. "Your father and I aren't blind, you know. We see how well you two have gotten along. And what a relief! Another year or two and you'd be completely unsuitable for marriage."
Vanari had no trouble connecting the dots. Of course her parents had seen her on amiable terms with Tirelin--she was a constant messenger on behalf of her younger sister, who was madly in love with the young Iceglaze architect. Her parents, however, disapproved of nearly everything Sania did, which made their youngest daughter even more petulant and reckless, leaving no end to her heated and sometimes violent arguments with her older sister. Nonetheless, Vanari could never find it in herself to deny Sania this one piece of happiness, so she kept the love trysts secret and aided however she could, albeit reluctantly.

The cloak is not made of expensive material, but was finely crafted for durability and showmanship, making any tale that much more colorful and seriously taken. Vanari has used this cloak many times to earn her survival from city to city.
