Kreig sputtered what little of the Suvan he inhaled, the salty water leaving a horrid aftertaste in his mouth. He was glad of Edreina’s timely rescue, though he suspected he will need to tighten his breeches ‘Petch, I’m going to need something to drink’ He thought as he caught his breath and gave Edreina an appreciative smile. Though it fade to a slightly annoyed one as she began to show off “ Mayhaps my dear, though do keep in mind that I wasn’t born with the Suvan under my feet. It may take me a bit more time if I can’t find enough in my schedule to allow for it” Kreig said, though he doubted she heard him as she swam, enjoying every bit of it.

Once she was done, he noted her grinning and couldn’t help but grin himself ‘She enjoys swimming as I enjoy fighting’ And he had to respect that, to do something one loves is both a right and a blessing. As she swam her way back, Kreig climbed up the net and back on to the Casinor’s deck, approaching the pile of clothing and picked up his hat. Less than a chime passed and already she had reached the boat and herself over the net and onto the ship. Kreig grinned at her as she spoke the next few words with a slightly tired breath.

"Now... time for you to teach me something," She grinned back, and Kreig simply shook his head

“First gather your breath…. Once your done with that, well…. Than I supposed I’ll do my best to teach you” The way he spoke implied he wasn’t quite confidant in his abilities to impart knowledge, Kreig had no one to teach him to brawl when he grew up, He hoped he could at least impart it.

After allowing Edreina time to capture herself, Kreig took a position in the middle of the deck and awaited for Edreina to do the same, he took no battle stance however, no raised arms or anything of the like. But he did try one thing, although Kreig didn’t intend his face gave a horrible smile… one that tried to say he would hurt her. In truth it was simply an attempt to frighten her “Now….borrowing a page from Razkar’s book; Attack!”

Sink, Sink, Sink your Kreig, gently down the sea (Edreina)

Despite his attempts, Kreig's smile did not affect Edreina as he had hoped. For Myri's sake, she had been taught by Razkar Mr.Pointy-teeth-and-absurd-amount-of-scars, Razkar. If she was supposed to be worried about getting hit, about getting hurt, she did not know it. Was there actually any other way for anyone to fight?

Upon Kreig's command, Edreina lunged forward and aimed a series of short, quick jabs at Kreig's midsection before dancing back a step. It was easy to see, right away, that the woman was still very much a novice. Each jab or blow was a bit hesitant, and a bit wild as she had not yet learned how to properly aim blows past general body areas. Any skill she had came from having to fight off a Myrian with the knowledge that if she messed up, he would make her remember the mistake. The slight bump on the side of her nose where Razkar had broken it and her flesh's memory of countless bruises were proof of this. So, Edreina's main tactic was evasion.

On her ship's roiling deck, Edreina figured that she would be able to move about more easily than Kreig who would naturally often lose balance or stumble. And this was how she fought him. In an instant, she would dart forward and rain down a flurry of attacks, aiming quick jabs with her right hand and more devastating hooks and such with her more powerful left arm. Briefly Edreina wondered if her south-paw fighting style would throw Kreig off, maybe give her the upper hand for an instant or two until he adjusted. And then she remembered that this guy had given Razkar a run for his money.

And so she stuck with attempting to be evasive, to land maybe one or two blows - if she was incredibly lucky - out of the half-dozen she attempted before getting out of the way. After her first assault, Edreina remembered what Razkar had said about deflecting and about using all of her body. She began attempting to bat away any blow he aimed as she was moving away, began throwing knees and elbows whenever she saw an opening. More often than not, she would miss and have to cringe away or even be hit. But that was another thing Edreina was good at, masking her pain. Every time Kreig managed to land a blow on her, pain would flash through her blue eyes before being covered up as she continued to attempt to focus upon the spar.

Because she lacked skill, Edreina attempted to make up for it with tenacity and wherewithal.

Sink, Sink, Sink your Kreig, gently down the sea (Edreina)

‘Why must the people I try these looks on usually fail?’ Kreig wondered with annoyance, though he did realize that in this case he chose to try and perform it one the wrong person. Simply put with the Myrian being her primary teacher, his ugly mug was enough of an intimidation act to begin with. He supposed he only had to try once more. It was obvious enough that if he looked closely, she was no exception to his brand of teaching as bruises…. Partiucalry a bump on her nose

“A bit slow, aren’t you?” Kreig said with a chuckle that had a mocking undertone, her attacks at his midsection were obvious to read as he raised his palms, each jab striking his palms softly before she moved away “I’d think training with Raz would have removed any sort of hesitation , or has training with him made you afraid?” Kreig asked, mock arrogance peppering his words, he knew that any hesitation from he and any sloppy punch was simply a lack of combat experience….. if anything she did a bit well by not sticking close to the brawler.

And contrary to Edreina’s beliefs, Kreig had spent a better part of a season stuck on a ship, by the time he was well enough to move he’d often take walks across the ship so despite not having fought on one before, he knew how to keep his balance. Regardless in any case, Kreig’s own matter of fighting had him only make small movements, often relying on his opponent coming to him while he simply adjusted himself or moved to the side whenever an attack is made.

She then rained down on him like a torrent, throwing a flurry of punches and hooks. In admiration, he admired how she fought…. She kept avoiding, keeping her distance and only closed in to attack before moving back. If Kreig had known any boxing terminology other than the basic names for punches, he’d definitely classify her as an out-fighter, keeping their distance and using their superior speed to avoid blows and often try to wore the opponent out… but this was not a sporting match, in a fight it was generally best to take out your opponent immediately. To Kreig’s admiration of her tenacity, a couple of jabs struck in the chest while a hook struck his side, the muscles she gained from swimming certainly added strength to her punches but the lack of control behind them and simply their sloppiness hindered much of their effectiveness…. A jab was like a poke and a hook was like a heavy but harmless push.

“If this the strength swimming gave, I’d better stick to swinging a heavy stick about….” He mocked, but if Edreina noticed there was no true malice behind the words, however Kreig did intend to anger her…. Words were weapons in themselves, if used correctly it could enrage someone and leave them reckless. A reckless person was of course easy to predict and in turn would be too focused on beating the person before them rather than how they would go about doing just that.

It was his turn to retaliate, but Kreig had to remember to put his own power under control, but only a little. As he began his own flurry of attacks, he stepped forward, suddenly throwing a lazy haymaker which was basically a wild swing of his fist. Edreina evaded admirably enough as she ducked and back, but Kreig didn’t let up as he threw straight punch after straight punch, and realized just how good a teacher Razkar was to the young lady, it was obvious he tought her how to, or at least imparted the basics , of deflecting attacks ‘My own favorite technique’ Kreig chuckled, but again Edreina’s own lack of experience hindered the effectiveness, one blow of his managed to clip her shoulder and another grazed her face , with every blow she did manage to evade she struck back with knee strucks….but they were more or less evaded without too much difficulty.

“Oh, so Raz did managed to at least impart some skill to a pretty face like yours” He said trying to bait her.

It was then that Kreig put himself in the defensive, but offered many obvious openings, each time she struck at one he either blocked or evaded, with each few one he’d strike back with a push and in one instance pulled her into a knee strike to the abdomen. He would allow her time to regain her own balance before striking out with feints and would again avoid any retaliatory blows… one such attack had him grabbing one of her wrists loosely with his right, while a slow, weak, punch of his left was making its way to her elbow.

“How about I cripple you to make the lesson stick, eh?” He wondered if she did feel fear now, but if she was observant enough she’d tell that all his mocking were hollow words, still if she did realize he feared that whatever he tried to teach with this would fall flat.

At even the possibility of having her arm crippled, Edreina reacted on pure instinct, body knowing she needed to get her arm away from him. She twisted in his grip, pulling his arm along as she moved under it and behind him. He could either maintain his grip and have his arm twisted, in which case Edreina would capitalize upon the opening to deliver three quick raps to his kidney, or release her, giving the redhead a chance to dance away once more. Once away, she would aim a quick, sharp knee at the center of his lower back.

From there on, Edreina hesitated less frequently. Even if his talk was mere jest, it reminded her that not every enemy would pull its punches as Razkar did. Whenever she was given and opening, she took it, just to see how such a blow would go, and how it could be deflected or avoided - as they most frequently were - so that she would be able to foresee it in the future. Each time one of Kreig's blows landed, Edreina would grunt or sigh quietly before throwing herself back into the fight. Being bested did not discourage the redhead as it would have others. Instead, it gave her a drive to do better, to get better.

The only time Edreina stopped attacking was when she was either warding off a blow or attempting to regain her balance as a blow missed or was deflected, upsetting her sense of balance. She attempted to get more creative, using new combinations of elbows and knees and, even once, her forehead as she attempted to drive it against Kreig's nose when he caught her by the elbow, trapping her close, taunting her further.

When she stumbled, falling back onto her rear with a surprised oof!, Edreina grabbed a length of rope and hurled it at him before rising to her feet and running full tilt in an attempt to slam her shoulder into his abdomen. If it went as planned, they would both go overboard and once there, she would gain the upper hand. She would use her superior maneuverability to come up behind him and slide one arm around his neck, pinching his windpipe with her elbow, holding him in place with her other arm, added weight forcing him under the water until he submits. On the other hand, if he were to dodge her attack, she would end up running headlong overboard and crashing into the Suvan. At that point, she would be laughing too hard to continue the fight. If he instead was able to deflect her or hold his ground, the fight would continue in its lopsided way.
