The moonlight was abnormally bright in the city scape, creating monsters of the shadow, hiding among the crevices. Not a place full of bright lights and elaborate night life, the citizens of Sunberth stayed in their homes and congregated to the pubs. Safety was in numbers, albiet making crimes easier to committ when you can just disappear from a rioting scene. But despite the danger, the place was still full tonight. Minding her own business in a small corner, Yuri was in a comfortable position. Wooden table chipped on the sides with visible age on it, faded green paint on the legs that provided support. Chatter was the consistent sound in the place, rumors and plans running their course. But laid back, chair leaning against the wall, Yuri was relaxing. Peering through the strands of hair covering her left eye, a young man had slithered through the crowd. He was in front of her, leather armor and basic attire of a mercenary, but did not come off as such a cut throat.

"Hn? Yessss?" she inquired, slowly reaching for the mug on the floor. Her right hand clenched the handle tightly, to use it as a weapon in an emergency.

He had a scar across his bottom left side of the lip, gruffy hair and beard accompanied his grim looks. Broad shoulders, about 6'2 and abnormally large forearms and hands. He was the brawler, enforcer, muscle man, anything else you could think of. Didn't look like a dimwit either, to her pleasure.

"All I am here for is to give you a paid fee and contract. A guy is hiding in the Leywellin mines, pissed off a few folks, ya'know? Slave caravan master gone bankrupt, ya'know? Can't give much past that, you'll get the rest of the sum after a completion," the man just came out bluntly. Not a name, nothing. The purse of coin was thrown into her lap, the weight of it feeling good to Yuri's pockets. Smirk across her face, her reptile eyes peered into the man's.

"I've never been in them, so don't expect anything soon. I got my own methods with things, which involves taking the time to get myself not killed, alright darling?" she chuckled to herself, seductive steps carrying her past the man. It was a short encounter. How he knew of her wasn't of her concern or anything else, just get the job done and make a living was the game.

"Alright, just don't waste time."

"Hahaha, I pledge that it is money well spent, child," she referenced to their massive age difference, herself up in the hundreds compared to the human species. It brought up a bewildered look on his face, guessing himself to be much older in comparison with Yuri's own appearance.

"If only he knew," she thought to herself, coming out of the tavern and skitting across the streets. Quick scuffle of the feet here and there, a few twists and turns, her own cottage was where she decided to sleep on the contract and her own plans.

Preparing everything she needed, Yuri wanted to go light. She'd camp inside the mines, if a safe haven could be found in their. Water was a must, her own armor, she wanted to be ready. Bed roll would be her heaviest thing, along with other basic necessities and tools in her possession to help. After brimming with confidence, a quick detour to the Inn was in order. Yuri would prefer directions, of course.

Once getting them with a silver tongue to the bar tender, she walked outside the Sunberth streets and into the outskirts. She traveled at her own slow pace, keeping to the main roads. Main concern was the monsters and bandits that roamed the wilderness. Keeping her head on a swivel and stopping a couple hundred paces, caution was priority. Yuri knew where she was heading and had a photographic memory to boot.

The directions she'd been given had been vague at best. Not many actually dared adventuring in the depths of the Leywellin mines in this day and age, the tales of hauntings and brittle bridges keeping people on their toes and in their homes. They were a relic of the past, and only the tunnels near the city were actually explored to the point that people felt safe travelling through them. Further out in the wilds where the real shacks were, people rarely showed their faces anymore. Only the stupid and the daring would venture down into the many tunnels and chambers past the initial shack, and past the directions to the shack itself, Yuri hadn't been able to fish out any real specifics to the suspected location of whomever it was she was supposedly chasing after.

The main chambers of the mines were supposedly to the north, and the safest tunnels were close to the bottom of the shack. The path down to the bottom of the shack was relatively safe with a few gangly wooden bridges covering gaps in the rock where it had cracked up or fallen in due to past abuse. Moving quickly past these bridges, the path down to the bottom was relatively free of incident, and there were more tunnels down here than could reliably be counted. Some were wider than others, but they were still impressive in their sheer amount. Old mining equipment was still present here. Carts, rails, cranes and makeshift elevators meant to carry things in and out of the hole Yuri would be standing in. Most of the equipment looked too old to be used and not a lot of it seemed to be in a good enough shape to salvage, anyhow. If they'd been, they probably wouldn't still be lingering around this place.

... That is, unless people had simply been too scared of it to actually come down here. It wasn't worth the effort.

She had approximately seven different tunnels to pick from, on the north side of the shack alone. Three wider tunnels that stretched far beyond what her eyes could register, darkness swallowing anything beyond ten feet of wooden rails. The other four were much smaller and one seemed to be half-way caved in, rocks littering the floor of the tunnel and one of the supporting beams meant to carry the ceiling leaning up against the wall on the opposite side. If she meant to cross into this tunnel, she'd most likely have to duck down or crouch, though it was impossible to tell what was beyond the already questionable entrance to the mine. None of them were lit, but it seemed most of them had old hooks in the walls to hold lanterns or lamps. ... Any lamps had been long since removed, however, so she'd have to rely on her own tools to dare the darkness.

Where would she go? One of the larger tunnels (left, right, middle), the small tunnels (left, right, middle) or the half-way collapsed tunnel?

Trekking through the wilderness was a mundane experience to say the least. On the way to the shack who's location was best known, she replayed the information given to her. It was on repeat in the snake woman's head, despite the minimal amount granted to her. All she knew that the target was a way's deep into the caverns and tunnels. Another piece of info was that they did not leave for anything, so she had calculated a couple scenarios in her head ; Was it that they couldn't leave? Did they have a companion who made the errand runs for them? Or did they have a way to self-sustain themselves in the narrow tunnels and corridors with rations or possibly hunting? Many mysteries to be found out, but it didn't distract her from the surrounding scenery. Yuri made sure to check for followers, or anything around the shack. It was rundown, rust to the structure.

Thankfully, there was grass around the entrance for her to step on and not create tracks like she would with gravel or dirt. Quick steps to enter into the shack, she hugged the wall closely for cover before facing the entrance down into the shack. Yuri contemplated transforming into a snake for the heat vision and heightened senses. But a quick second thought made her remember her weapons and provisions, so it was out of the question. Yuri crouched low, using her natural speed as a Viper Dhani to dart across the bridges. Caution was her main concern, avoiding to make the bridges collapse. They all were old and had been worn out over years, so not the safest bet to traverse them slowly.

Getting down to the bottom with no incidents happening and no sight of movement as far as she knew, Yuri stood in front of the seven paths. The most interesting one she wanted to take was the half-collapsed tunnel, but the only safe way to take it would be through her snake transformation. That idea had been thrown out already, so the small tunnel next to it on the right, was her next choice. She slowly walked past the tunnels, peering through them maybe to catch a glimpse of light or just something.

She didn't need to crouch due to her already miniscule size, but she did anyway to make herself a smaller target. Yuri did not find a need to be in a rush. Her pace was very slow, switching her vision constantly. Her eyes bounced from wall, to floor, to ceiling and back to the middle of the tunnel. She was looking out for trip-wires, pressure plates, anything that wasn't supposed to be seen. It smooth sailing the entire way. The tunnel walls were smooth, looking as if they had been carved cleanly. The light began to leave the area, but not enough that she was completely blind. Yuri came out of the tunnel a very slow step with her left foot, followed by an even slower step with her right. She felt the atmosphere change, the scenery changed. The ceiling wasn't able to be seen, suggesting it had been raised. She was in one of the chambers, carts and devices scattered along the floor. Some rails had rusted and fallen off while others seemed functional. Her main focus was to keep on her toes for ambushes. Second focus was to look for another path or avenue of getting up or through the chamber.

"Oh deary," the snake thought to herself.

The tunnel she moved through had been dry and narrow. Dust had collected on the floor, more occasionally tumbling from the ceiling when she moved as the gentle breezes made by her movement knocked the ages old dirt down from where it was resting. Ahead, the old mines welcomed her silently with very little in terms of sounds or movements. There weren't even critters around to greet her or flee from her shadow as she invaded their beloved sanctuary, bit she could spot a few bones and long-forgotten tools scattered across the floor as she moved. It looked like they had been preparing this specific tunnel to plant down a rail, but progress had been halted swiftly. Just before she emerged into the chamber further into the mine, she would've almost tripped on the start of the freshly laid rail if she hadn't been paying attention.

The chamber itself was as dark as the tunnel she'd just walked through. There was very little in here in the ways of natural light, but some kind of eerie light did seem to reflect from the walls of the large chamber, allowing at least some understanding of the shape of the room without much detail. She could, by squinting, get a pretty good idea of where the pathways were, but venturing forth without feeling her way around with a foot could be lethal. In the center of the chamber was nothing but darkness, bubbling up from below and threatening to swallow anything that fell off the edge of the stone walkways. They continued along the sides of the gorge in the middle, so she had the choice of going left or right. To the left, the walkway seemed to angle upwards a little bit and continue up along the wall while the right seemed to level pretty well with the floor she was currently standing on. She couldn't see if there were any other passages in either direction due to the lack of light in this place, but she nevertheless had a decision to make.

Left (and up), or Right?

OOCI won't be expecting very long post from these places, by the way. Seeing as you'll have to depend on my posts to pick your direction as you move forward. :P

Darkness. Blasted darkness. That was all that greeted her, engulfing the whole chamber. She crouched on one knee, close to the ground for a moment as to get a feel for the area. Just waiting there, eyes open, listening. Nothing. No form of movements or noises by even the insects. The bit of ambient light that was available to Yuri's eyes, only revealed the outline of the place. Despite the height advantage given off by the left path, heading upwards slightly over the expanse of the mine, she was not exactly a gymnast. Going towards the right and staying grounded seemed like a good idea until she found out the stability of the place and its dangers. Looking in the ominous unknown, Yuri felt the ground near her with her hands, crawling a bit side to side to find a rock or something to throw. She could get lucky and pick up a good tool, if not, she'd pick up the rock that was average-sized. Not too much bigger than a pebble, she tossed it in front of her to hear for the rattle sounds it should be making. If it didn't make any noise, Yuri would know that it would be a pretty steep cliff.

Moving to the right pathway, she crawled most of the way. She would slowly but surely make progress, on all fours. Using all four appendages to gain bearings of her immediate vicinity, Yuri was not planning to die from a meaningless fall. She kept her out for ways to make light or useful items along the way.
