Aose might find herself surprised when Tulaj suddenly fixated on her during the red tail's exercise. The albino's pink stare was fierce as he circled, a small white cloud above the girls, avoiding the larger red-tail's path and higher aggression. When the non-handler suddenly spoke directly to him, it was clear by the tilt of his owl-like face that he was surprised.
His wings shifted and the raptor dropped, sweeping past Vira to land on one of the perches the Chiet had brought for the two hawks. He hissed back at Aose and flared his wings, beak clicking afterwards. His dialect was odd, but not confusable or foreign.
What stupid girl say? Fly free she say? Stupid girl is stupid; should eat stupid girls eyes she so stupid. They look mighty tasty from here.
The harrier opened his beak wide and half-cocked his wings, the long and booted legs shifting his body forwards as if in preparation for flight. But Vira, standing nearby and observing in silence for the time being as the red-tail flew and Aose worked, caught the sounds Tulaj was making and turned her monocular gaze on him. He had perched on the left one and was staring directly at the Yasi.
Aose had said something about flying free and Vira frowned, "He doesn't fly free because he would be killed by another fairly quickly. Tulaj's...special."
Tulaj special, haha! Stupid red as stupid as stupid girl! Tulaj smarter than both stupids! Why you look me like that!? And then the raptor was flying, launching from the perch towards Aose with murder in his eyes. Vira snapped her head that way, however, and gave a shrill whistle through her pursed lips. The harrier stopped midway, his long legs half-hung and the talons spread wide. He screeched at both girls then returned to Vira's sontav.
The Chiet turned her eyes on Aose with an even deeper frown, wondering what had been going on. "Aose, please don't antagonize him. He's hard enough to keep in check when he's not interested in tearing peoples ears or eyes out. Now pay attention to the hawk. Red tail's don't typically fly when they're hunting. They'll prefer to sit on a high outpost and look over a field. See how the head is turning about? He's looking for somewhere to land. Extend your arm again and show him a treat from the treat bag. When he lands, give him this command-"
And the teen gave a descending chirp. "-It's universal for 'land'." And did sound quite a bit like the Nari version, though altered for bird familiarity.
