63rd of Summer

It was now almost noon. After the hard training session with Ximal earlier that day with Savio, she felt it would be best to have a small nap before going out into Nyka with Garel. She was trying her best to make sure she kept the strider on his toes. He's been acting a little more lazy than normal, but she was sure if she picked at his pride a bit. The Noble stallion would surely come to reason. She now stretched as she stepped over to the side of the bed. Before standing up, however, she glanced over at her bed once more. It was empty aside form her current presence. Again. She was hoping Revy had actually came in to sleep beside her that night. And alas, the woman was absent once more. Sure it was only a small nap, but she could've swore Revy had came in at one point during her rest.

She finally pushed herself to get to her feet and she performed a few stretches. After every rest it was best to do at least a few basic stretches so the body could be more awake. Once she felt reinvigorated, she changed into a regular set of clothes. A simple tan tunic. Some black tights. And the knee high boots that Revy had bought her two days ago from the market. As much as she wanted to train, she wanted to at least take some time to relax. She still felt a bit sore from her training earlier that day and felt some relaxation would do some good for herself. Maybe Revy could join her too! She jeered happily at the thought.

After a few chimes, she strolled outside her room and began glancing around for Revy. If she could at least find the woman, maybe they could at least spend some more time with each other. However, there was no sight of her. Least not at the first glimpse. Why was the woman avoiding her now? They made love and had came to resolve. Or so Sayren thought at least. She parted the grounds with a sigh as she approached the stables. The sound of her footsteps perked the attention of her faithful companion and friend. Followed by his eyes as he pulled his head back from the ground to get a full view of his rider.

Sayren smiled as she greeted Garel with a small kiss on the nose and a warming hug, "Hey boy. How are you today?" He shook his head for a moment and padded his hoof on the ground a few times as he gazed into her eyes. She giggled as she gave him a pat on his cheek, "You don't say? That eventful today huh?" He stepped around to bring his broad side towards her and he motioned for her to get onto his back.

"That excited to go out riding are ya?" He remained silent. Gazing right back into her eyes. To most people, it would've been an awkward silence. But between a Drykas and their Strider. They were communicating. And he was telling her she would end up telling him about it anyways so she might as well just jump on and ride it out. She giggled once again and jumped onto his back. "Sure thing boy. But let's stop by the market first. I want to see how Jasna is doing."

The strider sighed. Flapping his lips as his shoulders shrugged. Sure. After that, she braced against him and the stallion readied for a small trot. Once they were in the clearing, they were in a full sprint towards the city. It was only a few chimes later when they approached the Gates. The guards knew them well enough now that they didn't bother with them too much and allowed them to pass. Sayren smiled as she leaned down to whisper in Garel's ear, "Bout time they left us alone...Figured we'd be hassled for days on."

Without much warning, Garel stopped. His eyes were narrowed down on this woman stood before them. She tilted her head in confusion at the woman, "Hello? Anything I can do for you?" Something was off about her. The woman was wearing a blackened robe with a hood. Not most Nykan women such attire, so that meant she was a foreigner. Not that it was bad in her book considering she was once one herself. But...it was just something about her. It was making Garel anxious and it was obvious. The stallion was bearing down his eyes down on her and lightly tapping his hooves against the street. In hopes of calming him down, "Shh, easy now, I highly doubt she means us harm." She returned her attention to the woman, "You must be new around here. Perhaps I can give you a hand after all?"

Xzavyiehn wasn't sure what to think of everything yet. She hadn't exactly been able to find anyone worthy of bothering yet, which was in most ways, unfortunate. But it wasn't completely upsetting, considering she still had lots of work to do before her play. She winced. Now that was upsetting. Ah, well. Now that she'd gotten what little possessions she had safely tucked away at the Safehaven Hostel, she could explore.

Xzavyiehn wasn't sure what her purpose was here. All she knew was surviving, and maybe those at the academy could give her that. She expected nothing but to fight; to be at her strongest and to show others what she was capable of. Xzavyiehn would show everyone that she wasn't just another small, worthless, and pathetic weakling. She had purpose. She had talent. She had promise.... and if others couldn't see that, they would have to learn it.

Xzavyiehn looked around aimlessly. She wasn't sure what she'd expected to find here. An angry vendor and a wandering eye? No, surely there had to be something more. She wasn't exactly in the mood for idle chitter-chatter or nonsense and shopping trips. Perhaps someone could show Xzavyiehn around town... perhaps someone could be threatened into escorting her around town... She was slightly more than hopeful of that when she spotted a Dryka riding around happily. Xzavyiehn grinned nastily. Ah, such a perfect target. And with that, she stood gracefully and flicked on her oil-black hood.

Within moments she was inches away from the strider and it's rider, nearly causing the two to crash. The thing whinnied in protest, obviously uneasy about Xzavyiehn's presence, as it rightfully was.
"Hello? Anything I can do for you?" The rider whispered something in the strider's ear after it challenged Xzavyiehn once more, and looked up at the Dhani.

"You must be new around here. Perhaps I can give you a hand after all?"

Xzavyiehn smiled ruefully. She was a kind one, wasn't she? Well, maybe today there could be simply communication, no fighting. It was her first day in Nyka, after all, and she didn't want to make a... bad reputation.

"Blatantly obvious, isn't it? And I'm not sure your... mount would appreciate my presence if you were to do the favor I wish of you." The strider whinnied and stomped down an inch away from Xzavyiehn's foot, obviously not happy with her choice of words. But then, who was? "I'd greatly appreciate being shown around town. I'm here to study at the academy, but I fear I know nothing about Nyka." Xzavyiehn spoke tonelessly, being fairly reasonable, and more-or-less as civil as possible.

Sayren raised an eyebrow when the woman made a comment to Garel. Describing him as a mount? She shook her head with a small smile. She knew people outside the Drykas weren't quite as friendly to their striders. The bond between a Drykas and their strider was simple. They were partners. One can depend on the other no matter how dire the situation was. A Drykas would lay their life down for their Strider. Because in all essences, a strider was a Drykas as well. They were more important than your siblings. So it was rather understandable that Garel took a bit of offense to the woman's words.

However, Sayren was confident some kindness would be the best approach. The woman even said she'd be happy if she was shown around the city, she was here to study at the academy and she unfortunately knew nothing of the city. Sayren didn't much either. Just a few places in particular. Seeing that Garel was already having an issue with the woman, Sayren felt like giving some common courtesy and dismounted from Garel's back to stand in front of the woman. Sayren noticed she was a couple of inches taller than the woman. The boots probably helped increase her own height over the individual in front of her.

She offered the stranger a kind smile as well as a lift of her arm with an open hand, "Very well. Let me see if I can help you then. I am Sayren WindDancer of the Diamond Clan. And who might you be?"

Sayren...
"It's a pleasure, Sayren. What a name." Xzavyiehn remained without expression, simply not as pleased with the situation as her voice told. "I am Xzavyiehn. I am of my own family, which consists of myself. Other than that, my business is private." Xzavyiehn examined Sayren's outstretched hand, and thought perhaps she could just... no.

This stranger was nothing but a guide for the day, and Xzavyiehn wanted to make that clear. The Dhani's past proved that no one was worthy of trust. Though this girl had some redeeming qualities, Sayren was no doubt just like the others. Like her family... family...

Xzavyiehn gritted her teeth. "I would prefer if we left any physical contact out of this." She pressed her lips together so as to withhold the oncoming curling of her lip she felt. "I seem to be quite tired." The sentence sounded forced and dishonest, but that didn't really matter. "So you'll have to excuse my detachment as you show me around."

It was a pleasure the woman had told Sayren in a stoic manner. Then she introduced herself, Xzavyiehn. What an odd name. To have no last name either? Then it was explained why, the woman was on her own? No family to speak of aside from herself? Along with that, the woman spoke of private business. A mercenary perhaps? The woman surely couldn't be. She was much too small and slender in frame to perform such duties. However, if she was more of the deceptive type, which was reasonable due to her wearing a hood and cloak, that was more likely.

The girl's reaction to Sayren's offered hand was quite puzzling as well. Her teeth against one another as she waved off the physical contact. Claiming to be tired. Sayren couldn't help but raise an eyebrow, however, if her assumption about this woman was right, then she understood why she wouldn't care for physical contact amongst others. The woman even apologized for her distant actions. Sayren decided that even if the woman wouldn't accept her hand, she would at least try to warm her with a smile, "It's fine. You are rather new here, so its easy to understand why you wouldn't trust anyone around here."

She turned her back to the woman and waved her hand forward, "Come, I'll show you around. I was on my way to the Fourth Day Market to speak with a friend of mine." She wouldn't mount Garel, just walk beside him. If the woman followed behind them, she would continue with their talk. "As you may already know, it is illegal to sell or buy food in Nyka. You have to sign a few papers with the Supplements office, and then in a few days, the monks arrive at your living quarters with your daily rations. It seems rather strange and unusual, yes, but I've been in Nyka for quite some time now. So it just seems...natural to me. The people are hearty and are never scared to throw a punch. Keep it in mind if you try to insult anyone."

While they walked, Sayren noticed that Garel had been gazing at the woman. Remaining ever weary to keep her within his sights. Sayren bumped him with her shoulder, "Be nice. She isn't going to hurt anyone." The strider redirected his attention towards Sayren. Giving her a rather alarmed stare into Sayren's eyes. Sayren smiled while she leaned over to comfort the stallion, whispering into his ear, "We used to be pretty new too." The stallion shook his head, trying to negate her argument but knew she was right. Holding his pride, he kept his eyes ahead, making it sound like he had the last word.

Sayren giggled as she patted his mane, "Whatever you say." She glanced over her shoulder at the woman, "I know you said you were here for private business, but...what exactly about it brought you to Nyka?"

Sayren...
This girl sure knew how to hold her pleasant manner. Not as if that made her any more trustworthy. Comfortable to be around, perhaps, but certainly not trustworthy. Sayren mentioned something about the Dhani being new, and therefore Xzavyiehn's distant personality, but they both knew that wasn't why Xzavyiehn refused to get 'friendly' with the girl. Xzavyiehn could see it in her eyes. A sort of hesitation; weariness... caution. But nonetheless kind. That was odd.

Sayren smiled at her, and Xzavyiehn offered back her one-of-a-kind mischievous grin... perhaps it wasn't the best time to seem even more odd than Sayren and her Strider thought she was, but old habits die hard.

Immediately the girl faced forward and beckoned the Dhani to follow. She mentioned something about a Fourth Day Market... hm. Interesting name. They continued walking as Sayren glanced back to make sure Xzavyiehn was trailing behind, and the girl began talking again. She mentioned that it was illegal to purchase or sell foods in Nyka. It made Xzavyiehn wonder if there was some sort of Black Market... that would be amusing to go venture through. And then there was the 'rations' comment. Xzavyiehn grimaced noticeably. Ooh, joy. She spaced out for a moment and looked at the people around her. Sayren was obviously saying something, but the Dhani wasn't sure what.

"Hm? Oh. What brought me to Nyka?" Xzavyiehn looked straight into Sayren's eyes. "Well, I can see your confusion. Why would a little ol' Dhani like me be going to some school all the way in Nyka?" She grinned. "I'm determined to protect myself, and I heard the Ironfist School could help me do that."

Xzavyiehn suddenly laughed shortly there after. A loud, booming, full laugh that was laced with poison, and seemed far too large for her small body. She spoke between breaths. She just remembered what Sayren had said whilst Xzavyiehn was spacing.

"I'm sorry... you just make it - you make it seem as though you think I couldn't possibly -" She bent over, one hand on her knee for support, and one over her laughter-filled stomach. "Possibly take care of myself." The Dhani looked up and cleared her throat. "Sorry, I don't mean to offend."
