80th of Summer, 513AV

13 Bells

Savio paced his room. He had been doing so for at least three bells. He knew what he had to but that didn’t make it anymore easy. It had been ten days since Say and Sav’s trip into the Aperture… Ten days since Savio almost…

He still couldn’t bring himself to think about it. It was a shame he had been carrying since that night, and Sayren hadn’t even said a word to Savio since then. He had tried talking to her but she would either ignore him or just walk away without a word.

He didn’t think that she would forgive him. He didn’t even forgive himself. Savio kept glancing over at his dagger and his mind kept going to dark places. Sayren had a right to get her revenge. It was a cultural staple in Nyka.

While in Nyka, do as the Nykans do.

Savio walked over and picked up his dagger and left his room until he reached Sayren’s door. He knocked three times and hoped that Revy was not there. Luckily, the two of them have been able to keep the events of the other night a secret. As far as the other teachers knew, Sayren and Savio stupidly went into the Aperture and Sayren had twisted her ankle on a rock. End of story.

But the students knew the whole story. And Savio wanted to make it right. He just hoped Sayren answered the door before he got caught by either Bones or Revy.

Be Prepared (Sayren)

It was now afternoon time. Sayren had just gotten back to the school after spending some time with Revy. It was a chore convincing the woman to actually let her walk since she had broken her ankle. Sayren knew that if she didn't get back into her training and stretches, her skills would grow lame and useless. So after convincing Revy that she'd be fine on her own, the mercenary left to go do some other errands and Sayren stretched in the training yard.

Since she couldn't do much with her foot, she tried to focus on her upper body. It probably wasn't a bright idea, since she relied on her balance to increase the power of her strikes. However, she would give a dummy a few strikes with her fists. Being careful not to put too much wait on her broken foot. Even with it strapped between planks, the pain would still sear through her nerves.

After a few chimes, she figured she would go back to her room to change into something. Hoping maybe to surprise Revy when she got back with one of those naughty outfits. She giggled at the thought until she saw that Savio was standing outside her room. Knocking on her door. She started to feel uneasy again. It was that same awkward touch she got whenever she saw the man. She just couldn't shake the memory of that night in the Aperture away. Even the pain in her ankle flared for a moment. Making her gasp and giving away her presence behind him.

She glanced up at him with a half smirked smile, "Hello Savio...why are you knocking on my door?..." Her eyes latched wearily onto the dagger in his hand. It seemed harmless in its sheathe. But even an Infik can be harmless, till its released to perform its task.

Be Prepared (Sayren)

Postby Savio on August 26th, 2013, 2:21 pm

Savio heard Sayren behind him, but he hesitated on turning around. She even spoke to him, the first time since that night. Savio took a deep breath and turned around to face her, his dagger clutched tight in his hand.

“Sayren… Do you have a moment? I… I want to talk.” His eyes were downcast as he was lightly scuffing the wooden floor with the tip of his foot, since he was bare footed, and dressed in a plain white shirt and his training shorts.

His heart was hammering in his chest and he severely doubted his decision but he wasn’t going to turn back. He wanted to be friends again with Sayren. Even then, he could see her favoring her wounded foot and it made his stomach knot. He had done that to her. Granted, he wasn’t in his right mind but he still hurt her. He was weak. In not only body but also mind.

The man had froze up before he decided to face her. That dagger clutched tightly in his hands as he asked Sayren if she had a moment to spare. He wished to talk. His eyes were gazing down at the floor and he was beating his bare feet against the floor. She was nervous about it, but she knew they had to. If only Revy were nearby! She didn't want Revy standing right next to her cause then the mercenary would toss Savio right back into the Aperture. However, it would've been comforting to at least know she was nearby in case something were to go wrong. She didn't trust being completely alone with him.

"Very well...Give me a moment to change. Then meet me by the stables." If there was anyone else she would rely on, it was Garel. She would at least feel more comfortable talking to Savio with him nearby. She would give him a moment to be respectful and step aside so she could go into her room. If he had not, she would move beside him and the door and go on in. Either way, she was closing the door and changing out of her leather training bra. Then slipping into her Tan tunic. No boots just yet or even shoes, since it would've been difficult to put on thanks to her brace. Once she finished changing, she would meet Savio out by the stable.

Garel had already made it obvious to Savio to keep his distance. Stomping his hooves and glaring down at the man, neighing aggressively as Sayren approached and started to pat the stallion. Whispering calming words to him before she glanced over at Savio, "What is it that you want to talk about Savio?..."

Be Prepared (Sayren)

Postby Savio on August 26th, 2013, 3:26 pm

Savio looked up in time to see the distrust in the girl’s eyes. It made his heart ache all the more. He knew that it was very well possible that she will never trust him again. He wouldn’t blame her, if someone did to him what he did to her… Well… He would almost hate them.

Savio quickly stepped out of her way, giving the young woman enough space to that there was no chance for her to touch him. She closed the door behind her and he promptly left her side and headed towards the stables.

Before he even got close to the stables, the horse was already about to break out of his confinement and attack Savio. He knew what Savio had done. Savio dared to venture closer, but still kept a safe distance from the angry stallion. The horse was rather large, and he could easily break free if he truly wanted to.

Savio wanted to be punished by Sayren; not be killed by her horse.

Savio started to pace back and forth again. His nerves were strung tightly, and he kept fiddling with his sheathed dagger to keep his sweating hands. When Sayren approached, Savio made sure to keep a healthy distance from her as well. Not because he was scared of her, but because he figured that would be what she wanted.

“Sayren… I… I want to apologize for what happened the other night… There is no excuse for what I did. I was weak and I almost really hurt you. And for that, I owe you retribution.” Savio then tossed the dagger down at her feet.

“I was once told by a Nykan that when someone hurts another, the victim is entitled to punish the assailant however they wish as long as it doesn’t result in death or permanent maiming. I am giving you that option, Sayren WindDancer.” He finally met her gaze, and all of his guilt and regret was laid bare for her to see.

As Sayren tended to Garel, she listened to Savio. He was apologizing for what happened in the Aperture. Saying that he was pathetic for almost severely damaging Sayren. Because of that, he owed her retribution. The dagger held was now carelessly tossed down in front of her. He explained that a Nykan had told him that if someone pained another, the victim was allowed to return any punishment desired as long as it wasn't in death, nor permanent maiming of the body. That was what he offered her.

She clinched her fist. Glaring up at him as she hobbled passed by the dagger, drew back her fist and wailed it across his face. "You really think that's all its gonna take!?" Her arms shaking as her pavi tongue slipped from her anger, "You think that if I just throw a few punches at you, that everything will be alright?!" She then leaned against her good foot so that she could slam her walking stick across his face, "That all my nightmares will go away?! That petching grin that you gave me while striking me, will just disappear!?" She then limped away, breathing heavily as she growled and punched one of the wooden posts. She had no intentions of breaking it, just hitting the inanimate object.

She wasn't going to vent the rest of this on Savio. She was just going to pretend one of the dummies in the training area was him. Less he tried to stop her...somehow...

The first punch hit Savio like a sack of bricks, causing him to stumble back slightly. Holy Shyke, Sayren could pack a punch! He could hear her yelling at him as she hit. Even though the punch had hurt, the young Drykas’ words cut right to his core. Even though he couldn’t understand half of what she said, he knew that they had strong meaning to her. She followed him and landed another punch to his gut, winding him. Yet he didn’t raise a hand in his own defense. He wanted to. He wanted to block her blows like a logical person would but he didn’t. He deserved this. He wanted this.

She then pulled herself away from Savio and walked over to the post, hitting it. He didn’t want her injuring herself further, so he followed her and grabbed her wrist to stop her from hitting the post again. “Sayren, please don’t do that. You will hurt yourself that way. I am right here. I can take your anger. I deserve this, and you know it. Please.” The pleading tone of his voice shocked even himself.

Sayren halted in her tracks as Savio pleaded to her. He wanted her to direct her anger towards him. Her arms were still shaking, her walking stick even rattled against the ground as she tried to pivot around to face him. Stumbling awkwardly because of the walking stick, but she was able to remain upright.

"Savio...forgiving you is easy." She tried to say in common, but her free hand would wander while she went into pavi randomly, "But to trust you again...You have to earn my respect before you can do that." She hobbled over to him, glancing down at him with menace and mercy in her eyes. "So tell me Savio...should I respect someone that grovels at my feet?..." She angled her walking stick over to his dagger to drag it back over to him.

"You were my closest friend, Savio...and you called me a traitor. Because of that, you may never earn my full trust again. I'm giving you a chance to give yourself some dignity to regain my trust, but I could still have that sliver of doubt about you. Never fully relax around you, because I'll have those fears in the back of my mind. Knowing this, Savio Cazzola...will you still try?"

Savio took a deep breath, his head hung because he simply couldn’t lift it. He had lost a good friend, and he didn’t know now he could make it up to her. “I really am sorry, Sayren… My actions had no excuse. I hope to one day earn your trust again, but you have every right to deny that to me.” He politely bowed to her before picking up his dagger and walking away from her without another word. Words were pointless in that situation. Actions were called for, but Savio had no idea what he should do or even where to begin. But he knew he had to do something. Anything.

He really was a horrible person. A weak, cowardly, horrible person.
