Appearance Race: Pycon
Gender: Male
Age: 23
Birthday: 37th of Fall, 489 AV
Birthplace: Kalinor
Appearance: A stylized statuette of a bipedal pig dressed as a merchant, carrying an empty tray on a strap around his neck. His 'shirt' is striped vertically and his head has a simple hat decorated with a ribbon. Because of the hat, his ears are sculpted semi-flat against his head, and these along with his permanently sad eyes give him a diminutive appearance. His leggings are plain and bare no specific details and his feet are shoeless pigs' hooves.
Character Concept Clerk is outwardly good-natured and dislikes combat, proclaiming himself to be a pacifist. He can often be seen carrying possessions on his tray and vending them out to others in the manner of a merchant although no payment is asked for. His venerability and good sense of humor mean he has no trouble earning friends; keeping them is entirely different matter. Growing up in a difficult environment has guaranteed the development of possessive, object-oriented tendencies in Clerk from an early age, which are now firmly ingrained in his personality. In the past this has alienated him from others very quickly, and many more that weren't put off by his possessiveness where put off by his thoughtless and unrepentant attitude when confronted.
Although he behaves as if he isn't, a part of him is remorseful for the problems he causes through his habits. The front he puts up can be seen as an attempt to avoid conflict and stay true to his vow of pacifism. However, he is a disproportionately proud creature, and unlike to admit to any mistakes he's made on his own accord. True to form, he is very finicky about the things he owns, and makes a fuss out of anything used or taken without his permission.
Character History Clerk was born to parents who where Pycon natives of Kalinor, the last descendents from an unknown family who made their way into the city sometime long in the past. As a youth he was placed at great risk of being destroyed by the natives, and his survival as well as that of his parents is something miraculous. However, it is clear this peculiar upbringing has left marks on his naturally amiable personality.
At a tender age, seeking a better life and the adventure all young Pycon crave, he left Kalinor hidden in the possessions of a traveling Symenestra. Though his companion was unwitting, he spent his journey stowed away like this, going wherever the Symenestra happened to be going at the time. It was over this period of time he achieved his common form, due to his fascination with money and the exchange of goods, and well, the goods themselves in general. His pig form stems from the phrase 'To cast your pearls before swine', which he modified from an insult into a personal creed.
The sight of so much wealth in some of the places they visited was almost overwhelming; never in his life did he know there was so much in the world to be had for one's self. Though his companion never discovered that he was animate, they did, from time to time, notice that things would appear in their belongings that had not been there before.
Like all of his kind, Clerk's days of adventure eventually sputtered to an end. The untimely death of his companion found him settling down as a retiree in the city of Riverfall, where his hoarding became noticed en mass for the first time, and he has gained an unsavory reputation in some circles as being untrustable, which most certainly true. Still, due to the stereotypical nature of Pycon, combined with his seemingly friendly demeanor, he occasionally still finds himself making friends with even the locals, only to lose them later on to one of his episodes
Although it was not a particular passion of his earlier in life, since moving to Riverfall Clerk has established himself as a stone carver, taking the precious gems found by others and shaping them into refined pieces as his business. He is quite content with this new found purpose, as it helps to fund his own ever growing collection of similar artifacts.
