“Rhaus is known as the God of Music.
He is sometimes referred to as The Heartbeat of Mizahar because
every living heartbeat on the planet pounds in time to Rhaus’ music.
It is said his music resides in all souls everywhere, living and dead.
[...]
His minions, the bards of Mizahar, roam far and wide,
taking shelter with anyone who will trade
a comfortable bed and a meal for a night’s worth of entertainment.”

Physical Description
For some, Tobias is just another face in the crowd. He is handsome, but not overly so; black of hair and brown of eye, with a golden hue just like many other sailors and travelers. Gilded, that is what they call his father’s people, but to Tobias belongs the flushed pallor of humankind. A thin stubble clings stubbornly to chin and cheeks, and the thick, windswept hair on his head flies in constant disarray despite the many attempts of combs and brushes to tame it. Tobias stands tall compared to humans, whippet thin, with long, sinewy cords of muscle stretched across his frame. He is no rippling warrior, but is no weakling neither.
Tobias could be confused for a thousand other human men, and yet some see something different in him. Perhaps it is the deep baritone voice that emerges from his throat, which, despite how weakly he speaks a smattering of languages, always carries the lyrical tint of a singer on his tongue? Perhaps it is the shining look in his eye, almost a disguise for the sorrow that can be glimpsed there every now and again? Or perhaps it is the way he looks over his shoulder at night, as though his past is there, creeping up on him, with one shadowy claw already poised to seize his neck?
It is a question the observer must resolve for themselves.

Mental Description
To define Tobias is to try and move a mountain – not impossible, but certainly hard to do. He has moods like quicksilver, flashing to the quick; one moment happy as a summer day, the next moody and clouded as a thuderstorm. The look of the hunted falls easily into his eye, and despite his attempts to move on past whatever darkness lies behind him, even the slightest of resemblances can provoke unwanted emotion. Sometimes it seems like he’s running, at other times it seems like he’s looking for a home.
But, beyond flashes of a life gone sour, Tobias is a dogged optimist. When he was forced to make a choice between pessimism and optimism, Tobias chose the latter, assuming temporary happiness even at expense of heartache later down the road. He tries his hardest – really he does – to see the better side of things, and laughter comes easily, if not always honestly. While no pacifist, Tobias tries to avoid conflict, and sees better sense in befriending, rather than killing, another man.
Tobias rarely thinks in the long-term, as, for this poor soul, rarely anything lasts forever. Location, friends, even the days of his life – in this tumultuous, insane, chaotic world, nothing is certain, and Tobias knows that better than anyone. He lives for the now and plans for the future only when the future becomes the present.
Experience and naivety mingle in a man halfway down Kihala’s path, and Tobias spouts bits of wisdom and advice with dubious origin. He has knowledge, true enough, but it is knowledge learned on the road and from the mouths of other wanderers like himself. Scholarly knowledge, academia and gnostic learning – to all these things Tobias is a complete and utter foreigner.
Past all things, however, music provides a haven to him. When he plays, all cares fall to the wayside. For a brief handful of moments, Tobias is completely and truly content.

History
Tobias’s history is a mystery to everyone, perhaps even to Tobias himself. To see him now is to see a wanderer, drifting across the face of Mizahar with little more than his lute and the clothes on his back, but the way he speaks and the way he acts point towards a past that he would rather not share. When the courageous ask about it, Tobias will only smile gently and say, “I’d rather look forwards than back, friend”, but it is clear something troubles him still.
Sometimes, when he thinks no one is around to hear, Tobias will softly sing a curious refrain:
The stars, the stars!
I cannot hide from their light.
The darkness did once shelter me,
But now only blood is in sight.
But if this song holds any particular meaning for Tobias, well - he’s not exactly out to explain why.
(To be expanded upon in thread).
