Built on the lower southern end of the East Bank, the Dynasty Library was a gift of the Paille Dynasty to the City of Kenash in its early years. Though the structure was constructed by Paille funds and is still owned and operated today by the same Dynasty, the books within were generously donated from all sorts of places. The Library has a unique design. It is an octagonal two story structure that includes an expansive basement that houses the cultural and birth records of Kenash. The first story is open to anyone, and is well populated by books people would be interested in reading. The second story is a restricted area containing more sophisticated books. This level is restricted to certain individuals and donors. Anyone may read material in the library though no material is allowed to leave the library in its own original form. People may instead copy material within the library and remove it that way - in their own hand. Instead of starting his own busineses, Payne found himself in town minding the old library that had never amounted to much. He was the tender age of fifteen when he discovered the place, its disuse and neglect causing many of the books to be not in the best of conditions. Taking the library up as his own cause, Payne renamed it the Dynasty Library, and barred the upstairs to all but the Dynasty Members and certain select freeborn. Anyone can peruse the lower levels of the library, but the really good stuff is at the top, out of reach of any possible flood waters.   Rules The Dynasty Library is open every day during daylight hours, though during harvest it is not unusual to find it locked up as all the Dynasty families need as many people as they can get in the fields supervising during those periods. Anyone can utilize the lower level, but to go up the stairs, one must be either a Dynasty Member or a freeborn of some higher social standing meaning a business owner or some otherwise contributing member to the community. Lower Level Books on laboring, farming, building, plants, animals, social and cultural issues, and history are found. Upper Level Books on magic, advanced craftsman skills, and more complex subjects like advanced mathematics or science.
