3 Fall, 513AV

Yura walked from her room without a destination in mind. The snows of Fall had subsided somewhat, so she figured she might go outside and do some dancing. It was still so cold though. Without a mark from the goddess of the winter, the chill bit to her bones. She envied the full-blooded Vantha. The cold wasn't as sharp for them. It was no matter at all for them to wander around in nothing, while she had to wrap herself in furs and sit near the fire.

Yura continued walking down the blue-tinged icestone halls of Whitvine hold, towards the doors. A drink sounded quite nice right now Liquor could warm you inside, but Yura couldn't hold hers. It was a pity really, that she couldn't have a sustained good time. At last Yura neared the Medical rooms, which were close to the front. She stopped briefly to let Nennvar through with a patient.

Emmadalor had been released from the healing center two days prior, but she had just returned to let the healers check on their work. They had never seen an Akvatari before, so naturally they had no idea what they were doing. It wasn't as though Emmadalor had more pressing things to do, and she supposed it was more desirable to let them check their work rather than risk permanent injury. Still, being sleigh bound, having to let people carry her to and from the sleigh because she was utterly devoid of mobility otherwise...it was almost as unbearable as her general existence.

As one of the attendants carried her fur-wrapped form to her sleigh, the Akvatari's moist eyes caught sight of another person in furs. Most of the people in this city were able to survive the freezing temperatures with the barest of jackets, but here was someone who, like Emmadalor, had trouble with the cold. She felt a brief flicker of kinship, the first time in longer than she could remember that she felt the slightest bit less alone. The emotion brought ready tears to her eyes, and she wept silently as she gazed at the fur-clad girl.

Of course, as soon at the man carrying her stepped outside, the tears froze instantly on her cheeks. As the crystals bit her skin painfully, she felt her heart freeze as well. Furs. What a foolish reason to think herself not alone. Emmadalor would always be alone, she knew that. There was no point believing otherwise. By the time she had been lifted into her sleigh and grabbed the reins, she had all but forgotten such a sentimental feeling.

Yuralria had to double-take when she saw waht was happening. that was an actual akvatari. Without thinking she spoke as much aloud. A wind stirred up Yura's hair, and suddenly she wished she had braided it. 'Well thank you captain obvious' whispered the wind in her ear. Absently swatting at the incorporeal entity, she strode forward to the young lady in the sled.
"Hey there, you seem to be having a slight issue. Care for a hand? Or a set of legs?" As soon as she said it, she regretted it. She really had to work on her mental filter...
"Oh, petch. I'm really sorry...Sometimes I just don't think"
'You can say that again' Whispered the wind as it messed her hair around again
"Would you just shut it!" she shouted, stamping her foot on the ground. Yura glanced around sheepishly for a moment, before turning back to the girl
"I'm not crazy I promise" She explained. "Really though, would you care for a hand?"

Emmadalor was already in her seat and covered with furs when the other girl approached. She listened to the rambling with an increasingly sick sensation in the pit of her stomach. Every word the girl spoke seemed to have no other purpose than to remind Emmadalor of everything she had lost. Carefully, under her furs, she flexed the two fingers remaining on her left hand. She could not feel them moving, and had to rely on sight to be sure they were still there at all. She did the same thing with her right; that hand had been stronger, and only lost one finger.

The Akvatari sneered at the woman. "Are you offering to sever your own hand that I might replace mine? Unless you can drive a sleigh, I cannot think what other use your hands could possibly be to me."
