"Ha... ha..." Kouri arrived, breath panting out of panic, not exhaustion. Frosty white mists flowing from her opened lips, her eyes were wide in fear. She needed Wanda, she needed her now. "M-m..." She clenched her fists and prepared her ethereal voice cords "Mistress Wandaaaaaa! M...Mistress Wandaaaaa!" She kept shouting the Spiritist's name. "...Uuuh..." No answer, Kouri became reckless, she paced back and forth. Her mind still wondering on why would Wanda sent Mia after her? The ghost girl simply couldn't fathom it. It was like Wanda was deliberately edging her into insanity through Mia, did the Spiritist wanted for Kouri to be trapped her forever? To be one of her guardians? She froze at that, that might be true, she was a powerful ghost after all. Wanda might see her as a potential asset and the Nuit made use of it... if that was the case, why would she even bother to dust Rena and made her go through all that? "W-what if..." Kouri held her head and sat down on the ground, a gruesome realization came to her. What if Wanda wanted her to suffer first? To break her? To make her go completely insane and ready to be molded by her will. "U..uuu..." She started to cry, crimson tears falling to her. She shouldn't have come to this cursed island in the first place. She couldn't leave now, Rena was still trapped and Kriemhild was in the middle of changing bodies, she also owed favors to Amaryllis. If she left, Ama might do something terrible to Kriem for compensation. Chained by responsibilities yet wracked by despair, the ghost girl couldn't do anything but cry. That was until she felt a tiny presence at her feet. "Mistress, may I assist you?" A pretty little dress with a big bow, a living doll was standing near her with its adorable face. Lily, the animated doll she got as a gift from Sir Coud, was before her, offering Kouri her assistance. The doll's limited intelligence couldn't fully comprehend the situation, it only thought its Mistress needed help so help her she would. "L-lily..." Kouri focused the soulmist on her palms, materialized herself, and picked up the doll, then she hugged it close to her chest. The doll was the her last remaining companion right now, she didn't care if it wasn't truly sentient, its concern for her was enough to soothe her at the moment "Just stay with me... don't leave me... please stay with me..." She spoke between her sobs and tears. "Very well, Mistress, I will stay with you." The doll nodded and hugged Kouri back. Both of them stayed like that for a while before Wanda made herself known, arriving in a flood of mist. "M-mistress... Wanda..." Still hugging the doll, Kouri looked up to face Wanda with her tear-ridden face. "W-why... why did you send Mia after me? W...why..." She sobbed, steeling herself to speak "S-she showed me horrible things... l-like that prison, s-she killed a man in front of me... a-and s-she... she wanted me to see a torturer... w-why, why did you do this, Mistress Wanda? D-don't you want me to change?" She looked down again, unable to make eye contact. The doll just watched with its fake-life eyes. "T-the knight told me that... Mia would keep seeing me and she would drag me down with her... I... I think it's true, I liked what she did, I wanted to play with her... p-please, please don't let her see me aga-..." She hesitated, it was her sadistic side trying to prevent her, but she plowed own "-in..." She closed her trembling lips. She just hoped the Spiritist could understand her despite the stutters and sobs. |
